We booked the hotel for one night purely for the opportunity to stay in the Art Nouveau building and ended up staying an extra night. Besides the actual building with its interior and collectibles that I loved, the staff were super friendly and pleasant to chat with. This is the only place to stay if you are in Parnu, no need to look anywhere else.
We had a 2-days business meeting at Ammende. I think this place is not the best option for such meetings. The meeting room was dark without a good option to add more light, food was overpriced and we had to wait for 40 minutes for the lunch. There were nice cakes for the breaks, however, they were not putting any attention to how shall food support the energy level of the meeting. Rooms were nice, night sleep was good. If you do not like parabens in ametnities or have special digestion requirements, you should take your own amenities and food with you.
Villa Ammende is extraordinary. The building is fantastic and the quality of the decor and attention to detail makes it a unique place to stay. The staff were also friendly and very helpful - this was the only hotel in our 10 day trip where they offered to take our bags to our rooms..... Photographs do not do the hotel justice - everything was in tip-top condition and we loved the quirky stuffed animals (though they may not be to everyone's taste). Two small caveats - firstly, we had top floor bedrooms that were dark and not nearly as nice as the public areas, and secondly the food (albeit very good) was expensive compared to similar meals in other top-notch hotels in Estonia. In conclusion - We had a wonderful time staying in Parnu and recommend this hotel unreservedly.
We were staying in this hotel not for the first time, we spent weekend there and this time it was awful.. • Specifically, this room where we spend the night, the floor of the shower room floated completely after taking the shower, so it's not possible to use the restroom for some time after washing. Water pressure is also very low. • When I did a check-in, We mentioned that we also have a small dog. It was said that they actually have new rules now, but make an exception. There was nothing said about the pet fee. (last year we stayed at this hotel with dog then the charge was 20 euros) • Friday evening dinner. Wine recommendations should be reviewed. First of all, it was recommended essentially a dessert wine (Pinot Gris). We are not so big professionals that we know what kind of wine is what tastes. As the bottle was opened, it was distributed to everyone (including those who did not drink wine). • In the case of asking for non-menu items, snacks in our case before the main course, you could be coordinated in advance, how much is brought and what its price is. There was no need to bring us ham and cheese for 150 euros. • In the case of food, the beef was poor. Apparently, low quality meat was used, it was stringy and not possible to chew. The dessert did not deserve its price and location in the menu. Some of us ordered strawberry and rhubarb profiteroles.. They were dried up and seemed like few days old.. After all prices are very high, but the content does not match. When finally were making a check-out, we were told to pay the dog fee as much as 110 euros. Ofcourse we refused to pay this. Later we receiver the bill to our e-mail. We were told that there was more than 1 dog with us. If there is another dogs in hotel should we pay for all of them? Ridiculous. We paid all the needed amounts and it seems like we were quitly in poor quality of this hotel.
This was an exceptional experience. It is a rare thing to be able to stay in a beautifully restored Art Nouveau hotel. The rooms were comfortable, quiet, large, well-appointed and very clean. The staff were discreet, very helpful, and highly professional. We had a special request during our stay as one of our party was celebrating his birthday and they were very helpful in finding us a special table. The breakfast is delicious and excellent value. The hotel's location is good as well - halfway between central Parnu and the main beach area, in a leafy residential area. Everything is very walkable.
First of all, we paid around 80€ for our night and not 200€ plus which i guess can affect our experience. Staff was friendly and helpful. First of all, it was a nice house, with its own character, rooms can be a bit small and our bed felt more like dollhouse beds than anything else, clean and all in all not your standard hotel but makes up for it with character. Good location close both to town and beach. Breakfast was good, you have a good selection of buffet but also a menu you can order some really good stuff from. I am lactose intolerant so i had higher hopes for something more that could go along with that but i managed to have a very good breakfast anyway.
This botique hotel is quirky. There are lots of stairs and no elevators. Many of the rooms have only a porthole window although overlooking parkland. Odd. The rooms themselves are spacious and comfortable. The public spaces in the hotel are expansive, with a large number of hunting trophies on the walls, a billiards room and several posh dining rooms. All in all, a nice, comfortable, and slightly unusual hotel . Dinner was a disaster. The before dinner drinks were very slow in coming. We ordered two gin and tonics and two prosciuttos. We were served four gin and tonics. Two of the four persons in our party ordered the fillet of beef, medium rare and were served utility grade rump steak, well done. The other two mains were mediocre but okay. The least expensive wine on the wine list was $50, nice but pricey. When we asked for a second bottle, they were sold out of the cheap stuff and upsold us an $80 bottle. All in all, a very expensive, fairly awful meal, though the staff were polite.
Very nice experience from the first impression to the farewell. They have done a superb job in restoring the old charm to this lovely estate. We stayed at the separate building, our room (number 15) was very spacious. Only downside being that it's on the ground floor with bathroom windows facing the parking area, but that did not bother us. They have a really good restaurant, the dinner we had with our friends was more than satisfactory - really good dishes and lovely setting on the plates. The breakfast was also an experience above ordinary - besides normal smorgasbord selection there is a really tempting menu of prepared hot dishes. Only problem with it was that it was almost impossible to choose ones favourite as there seemed to be so many tempting dishes to choose from! All in all, I can heartily recommend this hotel and their restaurant as to top it off the service at the hotel was really good and caring for us as customers.
We stayed at Villa Ammende for one night during Pärnu restaurant week. This was part of a package we got from Estravel which also included a three course dinner at the hotel's famed restaurant, breakfast and late checkout. Kindly note that I will be covering the three course dinner we had at the hotel's restaurant in a separate review. You realise how special the hotel is even before entering. It is based in a big mansion which has been granted national monument status. Upon entry we were greeted by several enthusiastic staff members. They all spoke English fluently. Once we checked in, we were escorted to our room on the second floor by a member of staff. In order to get to our room, we had to climb two flights of stairs. I am not sure if a lift is available, I highly doubt that there is a lift in such a beautiful, historic building. Our room was a De Luxe twin room. Although not a suite, it was quite large. I can only imagine how impressive the suites are. The attention to detail is mind boggling. The fixtures, fittings and complimentary cosmetics are successful in conveying to the guests that they are staying in a luxurious and exclusive hotel. As expected, the breakfast was also up to par. There is the usual buffet, sparkling wine for mimosas and an a la carte menu. We ordered the three egg omelette with king prawn and the pancakes with cottage cheese and jam. If you are staying for more than one night, you can try something different from the menu every day to avoid boredom. Conclusion: Villa Ammende is incredible. The perfect place for a romantic getaway. It is probably even better to stay there in the Summer when you can sit on the terrace outside. Highly recommended!
Stayed here for one night whilst on a recent business trip. The hotel has a fantastic ambiance, art deco at its very best. Dinner in the restaurant was sublime, food simply to die for ! All of the staff were very helpful, knowledgeable and extremely friendly, a credit to the hotel. Even now I'm planning my next visit, this time with my family. A destination definitely not to be missed.
