Hotel Daunou Opera3.0 out of 5.0

The good: great location near the opera, so very centrally, which is a luxury for Paris. 24H reception was useful. It was also very quiet. Free international newspapers were a nice add-on. The bad: the room was very small and the design did not quite correspond to that in the pictures, but was quite plain. The windows facing a courtyard, the building right in front being an office felt a bit uncomfortable. Nevertheless, for 98 euros for a double room a great choice for Paris.
Stayed at Daunou hotel for business and while I wouldn’t exactly say I had a terrible stay, I just felt like this was one of my least enjoyable business hotels in a while. The front desk staff was efficient if not very friendly. The hotel itself doesn’t really have any amenities other than a breakfast area, and the rooms are really too small for comfort. I was expecting a small room given the price for a good location in central Paris, however this was smaller than I even imagined. There was almost no room to walk around the bed and the bathroom itself was extremely small. The room was clean and bed reasonably comfortable and I will say that I had a courtyard facing room so that at least ensured that things were quiet at night. The breakfast was very underwhelming with unfriendly staff so would only suggest it if it’s included in your rate. All in all while the location is good and the rooms clean, I wouldn’t really recommend this hotel as there wasn’t much else to note on the positive side.
The hotel is excellent. The breakfast was very nice. There is an elevator and a luggage storage which was very useful in our trip in Paris. The hotel is located 20 minutes away from the Louvre, so if you're an art buff - this is the hotel to stay in.
Price wise this was the best option in the area. I looked around and this one was 220 euros per night while others were about 380. so not a difficult choice. This hotel looks nice on photos but it is not all like that. Doors and carpets really need to be renewed. Breakfast room is really nice but the rooms need refreshing.
Stayed there in late may. Great location to visit most attractions around the city. Breakfast was a little high but I guess to be expected. Beds were awesome. Very comfortable. Rooms were a little small but again to be expected. The front desk staff were the best. They took excellent care of us! The "American Bar" across the street is cute but pretty expensive. Worth one visit but not two.
We usually stay at the Westminster Opera around the corner...this time we thought that we were getting closer to the Louvre, however, the maps are confusing and we were really only metres closer. The hotel is a lot less expensive than the Westminster, true, however, they are very small..we had our 15 year old grand daughter with us and it was very cramped.... TV had few English channels, altho had aircon, water and a mini bar. Parking is underground some 300 metres away. The manager was very helpful, and friendly, so most inconveniences were overlooked. Price was reasonable for Paris, maybe half of what the Westminster would have been....so it is hard to complain. It is only a genuine 1.5 star property, although many hotels these days rate themselves higher than they actually are, so in comparison to others, you could mistake it for 2 star. Would we recommend it?....yes......pricewise it is fine for what you pay...dont expect the Ritz Carlton tho.
I loved this hotel. Got quite a nice sized room for Paris. Very comfortable bed and linen. Nice clean bathroom. It was also quiet. The guys I dealt with at reception were really friendly and helpful. Location very good. One of the best hotels I have used in Paris. Will definitely stay here again and will be recommending to friends.
We had our rooms on the 6th floor which is the top floor for the rooms. The Elevator broke for the first day to night. it's an old refurbished elevator that can fit max 10 persons but can only take 5. take the lower floors, rooms on the photo doesn't look like the actual. the location is great though.
This hotel is located close to The Opera, train and bus stations. Lots of restaurants and bars all around. Rooms were very spacious for 3 people and front desk was extremely polite and helpful when needed.
We stayed 3 nights at the hotel. It is very nice base for exploring Paris. Comfy beds and rooms. No traffic or other noise. Excellent breakfast (really good by any standard, outstanding by French standard 😀). Some problems with wifi first, but later it worked fine.
