I stayed at the Hôtel Daunou Opéra with my parents for the Revéillon in Paris. It was great! A great hotel, with a nice room and a good bathroom. The attendants at the front desk were away very attentive and gave me a good options of where to go in the night! The breakfast is paid, but is very good, with lots of croissants and pain au chocolat and the cheese, aways delicious. The location is perfect! Very close to the metro station (Opéra), with 3 different lines, to the Opéra Garnier, L'Olympia, Galeries Lafayette, Printemps, Apple Store Opéra and not so far from the Carrossel du Louvre and the Avenue Champs-Élysée. There are plenty of options to take the bus from the Opéra Place too. There are several options of restaurants in the same street, with a very good lámen next to the hotel. The weather wasn't very good, but the hotel provided us umbrellas. They have a late check-out option and they kept out luggages after that too. I definitely recommend this hotel for everyone!
The building and rooms are not modernly decorated. Rooms are pretty dim in lighting. Nonetheless we had comfortable stay in the triple room, enough walking and luggage space. It is a good location, to opera and auber stations and to main shopping areas, Vendome, Tuileries and more. For the convenience, it’s a great stay if don’t mind a not so modern decorated room. Staff was friendly.
I Spent one night last week in this hotel, booked by the company. Rooms are small on this old builing, and it takes ages for the only elevator to reach your floor, as it's stopped up and down on every floor... Narrow front desk entrance, also. Anyway, the room could have been better, especially the bathroom: maybe it was my room, but that was a really old one, and it felt ice cold! The primitive heating system is useless. Furniture is old and battered, and overall decoration and room atmosphere is way behind expectations. I appreciated the bed and sleep quality, as well as the number of pillows and the new LG TV, that allowed instant USB connection for my portable movies-packed hard drive. By chance, there was a nice breakfast the following morning. Worst = cold. Best = TV + Breakfast.
We spend one night at the hotel and it was really nice. Great location and clean rooms. It was in a quite location and service was really good. Find the rooms size quite good and too small. Would use the hotel again next time :)
The good: great location near the opera, so very centrally, which is a luxury for Paris. 24H reception was useful. It was also very quiet. Free international newspapers were a nice add-on. The bad: the room was very small and the design did not quite correspond to that in the pictures, but was quite plain. The windows facing a courtyard, the building right in front being an office felt a bit uncomfortable. Nevertheless, for 98 euros for a double room a great choice for Paris.
Stayed at Daunou hotel for business and while I wouldn’t exactly say I had a terrible stay, I just felt like this was one of my least enjoyable business hotels in a while. The front desk staff was efficient if not very friendly. The hotel itself doesn’t really have any amenities other than a breakfast area, and the rooms are really too small for comfort. I was expecting a small room given the price for a good location in central Paris, however this was smaller than I even imagined. There was almost no room to walk around the bed and the bathroom itself was extremely small. The room was clean and bed reasonably comfortable and I will say that I had a courtyard facing room so that at least ensured that things were quiet at night. The breakfast was very underwhelming with unfriendly staff so would only suggest it if it’s included in your rate. All in all while the location is good and the rooms clean, I wouldn’t really recommend this hotel as there wasn’t much else to note on the positive side.
The hotel is excellent. The breakfast was very nice. There is an elevator and a luggage storage which was very useful in our trip in Paris. The hotel is located 20 minutes away from the Louvre, so if you're an art buff - this is the hotel to stay in.
Price wise this was the best option in the area. I looked around and this one was 220 euros per night while others were about 380. so not a difficult choice. This hotel looks nice on photos but it is not all like that. Doors and carpets really need to be renewed. Breakfast room is really nice but the rooms need refreshing.
Stayed there in late may. Great location to visit most attractions around the city. Breakfast was a little high but I guess to be expected. Beds were awesome. Very comfortable. Rooms were a little small but again to be expected. The front desk staff were the best. They took excellent care of us! The "American Bar" across the street is cute but pretty expensive. Worth one visit but not two.
We usually stay at the Westminster Opera around the corner...this time we thought that we were getting closer to the Louvre, however, the maps are confusing and we were really only metres closer. The hotel is a lot less expensive than the Westminster, true, however, they are very small..we had our 15 year old grand daughter with us and it was very cramped.... TV had few English channels, altho had aircon, water and a mini bar. Parking is underground some 300 metres away. The manager was very helpful, and friendly, so most inconveniences were overlooked. Price was reasonable for Paris, maybe half of what the Westminster would have been....so it is hard to complain. It is only a genuine 1.5 star property, although many hotels these days rate themselves higher than they actually are, so in comparison to others, you could mistake it for 2 star. Would we recommend it?....yes......pricewise it is fine for what you pay...dont expect the Ritz Carlton tho.
