On the day of check in, we were messaged by the host saying that there were plumbing issues at the property and that we would be moved to a different property. Details and check in instructions were given for the new property not far away. The new property was clean and neat, however, it needs updates. The appliances were very old and outdated. There was also food and other items left in the refrigerator and freezer and cabinets. We did take advantage of using the shower as we were trying to settle in for the night. While resting and relaxing in the living area, the power went out. We waited for it to come back on with no success. The owner was notified and he stated there was a widespread power outage and offered to come start the generator at the property. We declined and elected to return to our point of origin. The owner understood and wished us safe travels. I inquired about getting a refund for our stay and the owner stated we would minus VRBO fees. I recently inquired about my refund status with VRBO and they stated they would get a hold of the owner. I received a phone call from VRBO stating the owner would not be refunding our stay since we used all the towels (prior to the power going out). I wish I could say our experience with this owner and property were better, but sadly it was not.
