We only stayed for one night, but would definitely go back; it was a highlight of our trip. The hotel is charming, the service is lovely, the location is stunning and the food and wine are superb. The sense of pride shown by all staff in the estate's wine is evident and well placed. Highly recommended.
Fabulous location and gorgeous hotel. A bit of a hairy drive to reach the Abbazia, but once you are there it is so worth it. Stunning views over the hills of Castelbuono. Accommodation and facilities were also amazing. Beautiful pool, had dinner one for the nights and was delicious. Was only there for 2 days but was super relaxing and beautiful. Great staff too.
We stayed for 5 nights in Oct 2017 and had all our evening meals there. Our room was spacious and lovely and we enjoyed sitting by the pool in the late afternoon looking out to sea. Because Santa Anastasia has it's own vineyards they only serve their wine, but this is no hardship! We had the very reasonably priced wine -taster with 2 of our meals and the experience enhanced our meal. The staff could not have been more friendly or helpful, and the food was fantastic.WE would love to return. Cynthia and John
We recently stayed at the Relais Santa Anastasia where we found the staff to be so really pleasant and helpful especially in an emergency situation where medical assistance was required. The accommodation was Wonderfull and the restaurant out of his world. We will count the days until the opportunity to return presents itself.
We stayed in the hotel for three nights. The hotel is besutifully set with view of the mountains and the sea. The rooms are spaciuos and our room had a huge bathroom. The breakfast was good, and the restaurant served excellet dinner with different menu every night. The best aspect of this hotel is still the beauty of the hotel buildings and gardens and the personal service. Recomended for everyone who wants to relax!
Graet place to stay for peace, quiet and nature. The hotel is on the hill and has great views to the coast and sea. Its not far form the main motorway so easy to get to.The rooms where great , I stayed in the suite which was a great choice looking over the swimming pool and sea. The food was good and the staff are friendly and attentive. Go on the free wine tour and pay for the wine tasting well worth it. You need a car to stay here but people where using taxis from the nearby town to visit places , you can arrange local tours form the hotel. The restaurant was good with a good atmosphere and the food of a good quality. Would recommend this hotel if you want a break from noise and activity. and not stay in the usual chain hotels.
This was our last hotel out of 3 on our Sicily holiday. It's at the end of a very long 3km driveway with beautiful views and vineyards. It came with good vibes. What a beautiful hotel with character and charm. Yes it's a little dated in parts but that is the Sicilian decor. The lounge / reading room was grand and tasteful. The important bit: staff, food, surroundings and service were excellent. Pool area large and luxurious. Bar area for daytime drinks next to pool with lovely staff who served quickly. Lunch al fresco in a beautiful courtyard was perfect. Dinner in the restaurant was again relaxing and of very high standard. Slight minus menu was same most days with a small variation of specials. It's a vineyard so as expected great variety of their own wines which were offered expertly at each meal. Loved the grillo white and can be bought and shipped home from their own wine shop on site. We had one minus in the four days we were there: local wedding! We were quite excited to see a bit of local celebrating and would normally enjoy watching and soaking in the atmosphere. Oh dear it was too big for the hotel, 200 plus guests. A notice on reception that music was until 3am! The next day the post wedding party of about 30 people descended on the pool area, took over and shouted to each other the whole day along with pool chaos it was not relaxing. The next day was perfect with other family's just enjoying this lovely place. May we suggest to the Santa Anastasia that if they have a large wedding booked they don't take bookings for other guests at that time. I think the overworked staff would appreciate it too. Still give it 5 TA s as was stunning overall.
We stayed here for four days being the second of two stays both at Relais hotels on the island. This was our favourite by a long shot! We have travelled around the world and stayed in some excellent five star hotels and this one is up there! If you are looking for riotous evenings, lots of live music and a large town within walking distance then do not stay here! However if you are looking for good food, great wine, beautiful scenery, excellent customer service and a very peaceful ambience then this is the hotel for you! You do need to a car to explore the surrounding area with the quaint town of Castelbuono about 8 km away and the lively seaside resort of Cefalu with its excellent beach, great restaurants and good shops and picturesque side streets. The drive up to the hotel from the road is about 5mins long but don't let this put you off! When you arrive you enter a beautiful courtyard where we could quite easily have spent large tracts of the day relaxing over a glass of wine! The staff were excellent and in particular I must mention Danielo, the Hotel Manager and Mirko on reception, both of whom could not do enough for us. The waiting staff in the restaurant were polite and efficient under the watchful eye of Giancomo and the restaurant itself created a lovely atmosphere and was pretty full both nights we ate there. One nice touch is that you book a table but you don't have to stick to a certain time and turn up when you want to. Drinks are also served in any of the beautifully furnished general areas of the hotel. The pool was not too cold and the area around it had wonderful views over the extensive vineyards and out to see on one side and the beautifully refurbished walls of the old monastery on the other. Our room overlooked the pool and gave us this lovely view each morning. The rooms are nice furnished in fairly typical Sicilian style wit separate toilet and a very nice bath with shower overhead. A good sized basin and towel warmers made it very comfortable for the two of us. The rooms also gave easy access to the breakfast area which provided a very good start to the day with the options of complimentary omelette and bacon and eggs on top of the excellent buffet available. The hotel is also a working winery and we were given a very informative half hour tour and the wines available for purchase are discounted for residents - a nice touch. I would also add that we thought that the drinks are well priced and were far more reasonable that the other Relais where we had stayed on the first part of our trip. So overall I would thoroughly recommend the Relais and hope to revisit it in the future and experience further that lovely ambience and friendly service!
My wife and I arrived on the afternoon of her birthday, I had previously forwarded some bunting and had asked the hotel to purchase a bouquet of flowers for the room as a surprise for my wife, not only did they oblige but they placed a lovely bottle of wine and some nicely presented fresh fruit, (Thank You). The room as very nice and comfortable, the grounds and the pool were kept in a very clean and well presented manner. the staff were extremely helpful and pleasant without being overbearing. This was second hotel we had stayed at during our visit to Sicily and the food and service were far superior in comparison to out so called 5 * we had just stayed at. During our stay there were 2 weddings being conducted at the small church in the courtyard, these were very nice to observe and did not interfere with our holiday in the slightest. on the evening of the second wedding the Bride and Groom sent a couple of drinks across to my wife and I which was really nice of them and we were later invited to join in the festivities and it turned out to be a great night. I would return back to this hotel in a heartbeat for another place to stay.
We have booked for 8 nights at the hotel, as part of our honeymoon. When we arrived we were surprised that the hotel, restaurant was more a 3 star than 5 one. The surrounding is beautiful, but the rest, a shame. Like in the 80s. We were very disappointed. My husband and I have travelled around the world and we know what to expect from a 5* hotel. But nothing met our expectations. So we decided to leave the hotel the next morning and returned to the previous hotel, which was 300 km away. I would not suggest to stay here and would not recommend to friends.
