My wife and I arrived on the afternoon of her birthday, I had previously forwarded some bunting and had asked the hotel to purchase a bouquet of flowers for the room as a surprise for my wife, not only did they oblige but they placed a lovely bottle of wine and some nicely presented fresh fruit, (Thank You). The room as very nice and comfortable, the grounds and the pool were kept in a very clean and well presented manner. the staff were extremely helpful and pleasant without being overbearing. This was second hotel we had stayed at during our visit to Sicily and the food and service were far superior in comparison to out so called 5 * we had just stayed at. During our stay there were 2 weddings being conducted at the small church in the courtyard, these were very nice to observe and did not interfere with our holiday in the slightest. on the evening of the second wedding the Bride and Groom sent a couple of drinks across to my wife and I which was really nice of them and we were later invited to join in the festivities and it turned out to be a great night. I would return back to this hotel in a heartbeat for another place to stay.
We have booked for 8 nights at the hotel, as part of our honeymoon. When we arrived we were surprised that the hotel, restaurant was more a 3 star than 5 one. The surrounding is beautiful, but the rest, a shame. Like in the 80s. We were very disappointed. My husband and I have travelled around the world and we know what to expect from a 5* hotel. But nothing met our expectations. So we decided to leave the hotel the next morning and returned to the previous hotel, which was 300 km away. I would not suggest to stay here and would not recommend to friends.
We were impressed with this hotel. There are wonderful views all around, justifying the long drive up to the hotel. The swimming pool area is very good for those few hours of relaxation. Our room (Junior Suite) was excellent. There are plenty of places to visit in the vicinity. The food was above average and, at Dinner, they were very obliging in offering alternatives to the menu choices.
The Relais offered a good stopover location as we made our way via rental car from Palermo to Cefalu and onwards south. The road to the relais requires fast reflexes, as it is a spur off the main road with little warning. I saw the sign after passing the turnoff but was luckily able to reverse course with no traffic behind us. A long narrow road leads past vineyards and olive groves to the relais perched atop a hill. I had to announce our arrival at the speaker system mounted on the adjacent gate, which swung open when I uttered the password. The building is of stone, similar to a farmhouse or, in this case, the structure of a 12th century abbey, which has been transformed into a modern facility. After a friendly greeting we were led along a winding path to our rooms, with wood beam ceilings, ceramic and wood floors, with shower and separate water closet. Bed was firm but pliant, enough so to provide a good night’s sleep. There is no A/C, as the elevation brings a chill with it at night. I felt a chill late in the day, but the room was still a bit warm for me despite their saying we would likely have to turn on the heat (our window was open all night). I imagine in the heat of summer the lack of air conditioning could be a liability. One surprise in a structure such as this was being able to hear muffled sounds from neighboring rooms. We travel with a white noise machine, which negates most of the noise. We had a lovelyl dinner in their beautiful dining room. Service was gracious, and started with an amuse bouche with a taste of their homemade rose wine. We followed the typical path with a pasta dish and then the mains, which included ribs of lamb, veal filet and sea bass. Yum. Portions were such that they left room for dessert. I especially enjoyed the millefoglie. Another yum. Breakfast is served in a bright, open room with a panoramic view over the area, looking towards the sea. There is a terrace if you care to take your cappuccino al fresco. Offerings include selections of juice, cereal, yogurt, cheese, meats, breads and lots of different (and delicious) pastries. Freshly made eggs can be ordered from the servers. All in all, an excellent choice of lodging and dining.
We only spent one night at this charming hotel and vineyard, and loved every minute. The room was cosy, even if a bit small. The bathroom was also good. We did not use the pool as it was a bit cold. Dinner was very tasty, paring with wine from the winery itself. Great views over the valley and coast. Free wifi. Would definitely go back.
Beautiful hotel and vineyard located about 25 minutes drive from Cefalu. We had lunch and wine tasting. Had we known in advance, we would have spent a night here. Nice restaurant, great pool, great views, and elegant country hotel.
Great hotel, nice comfy beds and rooms. Breakfast was good, tea, coffee juice toast bread cheese ham meats and pastries and cereal. Coffee not great. Amazing setting and location. Remote so expect to get charged a lot for taxi or get a car. Hotel receptionist very good, restaurant staff excellent not quite 5 star service though. Pool lovely but no indoor pool, gym or spa and pool was cold as it was may. Sun beds are uncomfortable and gardens surrounding were not planted but overall worth the money. Lunch snack start at €8 and dinner starts at €8 for starter €14primo €18 mains and €8 for dessert. Worth the money, food fab at dinner. Wine tour good but wine not amazing for me. We did buy olive oil home grown which is lovely.
A truly fantastic place to stay, and very reasonable, considering it is a 5-star!! Great food, superb service (always with a smile), and they have their own vineyard!! Magnificent views down the valley towards the coast, and great walking country as well.
We arrived tired from the final stage of our walking tour of the Medonie. A lovely surprise on arrival was to be upgraded to a deluxe room. Loads of space and a balcony. Staff were attentive, kind, good humoured and very professional. The gardens are beautiful and there are steps up to get a panoramic view down to the sea and up to the mountains.Lots of different seating areas to relax, read or enjoy the views. Swimming pool is lovely and right next to the bar. The food is delicious and sourced from their own farm and vineyard. The wine is excellent and good value given the quality.
We did not have a reservation but were able to stay the last 2 nights the hotel was open for the season. This is a very special place with it's history and our room was very comfortable and spacious. We had dinners in the restaurant and the meals were memorable. The wines are their own and did not disappoint. We wished we could have stayed longer. it was such a magical setting and the views surrounding the hotel are superb. The staff, reception and dining room were so helpful and friendly and added to making our stay perfect.
