Old Swan & Minster Mill

Wonderfully pretty and great character but the hotel rooms are too small, cramped and lack of air conditioning and thin walls guarantee sleepless nights...the evening meal was ok but breakfast was poor. The cooked breakfast was cold - cooked in advance and allowed to fester in a hot plate I suspect.

Took my wife here for a two night stay for a bit of luxury. We were not disappointed. Lovely location, super walk along the river, good food in the restaurant. The rooms in the old pub were not as nice as the ones by the river but still good.

We booked on one of their mid-week specials which got us a free bottle of champagne but it is a top quality hotel & spa. We upgraded to a deluxe room which gave us a seating area as well. The spa is a little small, the pool is small and the changing isn't big enough to swing a cat. That part was a little strange as the hotel was virtually full, presumably no one uses the spa which was great for us. Lovely village too, a few nice walks and even a route for a self guided bike ride

We stayed at this hotel and had a very nice room and a good evening meal. The grounds of the hotel are lovely and the area is very pretty. The hotel is ideally situated for exploring the Cotswolds. Breakfast was freshly cooked with a good selection.

It is a repeat visit to this hotel. We even asked to stay in the same room (141). We enjoyed our stay. The room was perfect all the facilities were well maintained, the grounds beautiful as we remembered. It was a joy until we went for our dinner in the restaurant. The food was a complete let dawn. on our last visit we enjoyed it. unfortunately, this time the food was very mediocre, small choice, small quantities with a high price. Even the breakfast was disappointing. It is a great shame & I hope the management will rectify it ASAP as otherwise it is a gem of a hotel.

My girlfriend and I visited yesterday. Once we got to reception, the lady told us we got our room upgraded for free. Really nice of them... if it was true! We checked all the rooms online and we definitely got the standard room as we booked. No need to lie... is there? The room we got was nice, quite small but clean and nice features. Once we got to the bar, we were told that unfortunately there was no cocktails available; I expected a five star hotel to have a really nice selection, instead of none! Another let down was the food. Oh my, oh my. The staff were really friendly but they definitely need a thorough review of the menu. Small portions, not much flavour and quite boring food for the price you pay. Again, you expect the best from five star accommodation. We heard the customers next to our table complaining as well. The day after we went to use the swimming pool, when we had the "the delightful" surprise that wasn't included in the staying but you had to pay and extra £25 per head to get in. Basically the 2 out of 5 stars we give to this hotel are based on the beautiful set up of the hotel, the stream and lake in the 65 acres of land and cleanliness. Upon arrival, we turned off the towel rail that was left on on our arrival even if it was 32 degrees Celsius outside. In the morning, before we left to go for the check out, my girlfriend burnt her self twice in one go with the rail. After we left, her hip and arm burnt and badly scarred. We emailed the hotel the day after to let them know but we didn't get any kind of support apart from "we are sorry". They said if we turned it off that wouldn't had been a problem. I did switch it off at least 8 ours before the accident happened and it was still scorching hot. BE CAREFUL if you're staying in the room called: Churchill.

This must be our 8th time and even under new ownership it did not disappoint, in fact we felt the service and food at the hotel was better than before. Stunning location we will be back hopefully later in the year..

What a find! A wonderful hotel in the Cotswolds - service was excellent, staff could not do enough for us. The room we had was very clean and comfortable - lovely touch of Sloe Gin in our room and a fire pit on the patio by the river - perfect. We used the Spa and the treatments were excellent. The food in the restaurant was excellent with superb service from all the staff.

River room , very comfortable , shower space limited due to sloping roof , but acceptable even at 6.3 . Great range of coffee, tea and complimentary Slow Gin ! Staff could not be more helpful and relaxed. The complex surroundings are great .Spa was very clean , although having paid to stay , would have thought this would be included , hence very quite within the Spa .

I booked this venue for a romantic weekend away in the country; we ended up leaving after the first night feeling incredibly let down. The location is stunning but the hotel does not live up to expectations. Rooms way too small and not very clean. The first room we were given in the Minster Mill had a vaulted ceiling which had three spiders lurking in the eaves, out of reach to remove them and one was over the bed. My partner refused to sleep there; the room we were moved to in The Swan was also small but spiderless... however it had no coffee machine and when we tried to make instant before breakfast we discovered the kettle had an old tea bag and tea in the bottom. There was no mirror in the bedroom which made it impossible for my partner to dry her hair. The toilet seat moved when you sat on it, and the flush handle was filthy. The bath was the size of a shoe box. We were woken at 6am by the sound of loud staff voices and the clattering and buzzing of kitchen equipment. Two star accommodation at five star prices. On a positive note, my partner enjoyed her massage in the spa and dinner was of a reasonable standard albeit portions very small for the price. We declined to stay for the second night of our booking and whilst the duty manager agreed not to charge for canceling the second night there was no offer of recompense for the awful first night. A real shame as we had been looking forward to a relaxing weekend in the country at a five star venue. Massively disappointing and a waste of a not inconsiderable sum of money!
