So easy to find from Shin Osaka station. Wonderful views of Osaka City from most rooms in the building including kitchen and common area. Delicious breakfast is only 500yen extra and well worth it, I thought. Spacious rooms and personal lockers at no extra charge. Communal bath with charcoal was the perfect way to end a long day of travel. Staff were lovely, very helpful with good English. Cons - midnight lockout, and you have to leave your key at reception when you leave the hostel. No wifi in the rooms but very fast in the common and dining areas.
Location: ~7 min walk from Shin-Osaka train station, where you can get the Shinkansen, JR lines to other cities and the metro within Osaka as well. It was quite a challenge locating the right exit from the huge train station that leads to the hostel as most signs were in Japanese. You can locate it from Pablo Cheese cake shop, 7-11 and walk to the end of the long path that extends from it, taking the stairs down where there's a Family mart opposite on the road (and google will do the rest of the work). The hostel takes 2 floors of an industrial-looking building in a quiet neighbourhood. Some cafes and convenience stores nearby. Amenities: Shared bathroom / showers that were well-stocked with shampoo/soap and very clean. There is also a traditional communal shower area. There is a big uni hall-like canteen where you can have your meals/ breakfast. The odd thing is the showers are open only certain hours of the day and there is a curfew by 11/midnight because the lifts don't operate past that time (you need the lift as the hostel is on level 10. Not suitable if you are out late. When i was there, several rooms were occupied by a group of middle-school students so it was a little noisy. The rules felt even more restrictive than when I was in uni. Room: I was in a 6-bed female dorm and the room was spacious with its own sink. I appreciated the privacy curtain along the bunk bed and each bed was equipped with bed light, clothing hook and electricity plug. You get your own locker as well. Overall: Good for short stays, centrally located. If you are ok with the restrictions on time / showers, it is perfect.
This place is great for a "in and out" stay - Pros - clean facilities, 24 hr reception, walking distance to shin-osaka station. Cons - there is no wifi in the rooms, lots of rules, no staying up past a certain time, breakfast rules etc.
This is a very clean, quiet and well-run hostel located just a few minutes outside of JR Shin-Osaka station. It's also a good value. There are quite a few regulations while staying at this hostel, which has both its good and bad points. There is a curfew at midnight, so you can't get into the hostel after this time. The good point, I guess is that loud party people probably won't stay at this place. There is no wifi in the private rooms, only the common rooms, which is also inconvenient, but perhaps it encourages people to either not disturb other guests in the room or go to bed early. The only "rule" that I didn't think made sense was a limited shower time - only in the evenings and early in the morning. Even so, staying here is not that inconvenient, and for the price and cleanliness, it's a great option.
There are various style rooms available. I chose the Japanese style room available for 6 persons. It was very nice experience to stay in such a Japanese style room. The room was spacious with a small living room and another area for sleeping. There is also en-suite toilet. The best of the stay is the public bath where one can soak into the hot water after a whole day of walking. It was very relaxing. Location wise is also near to Shin-Osaka train station. About 5-10 minutes walk and train station is central to all the popular attraction in Osaka. Breakfast is simple but delicious at an additional of 500 yen.
Very clean hostel located near Shin Osaka station. The staff speak English to a certain extent so you should not have any problems communicating with them. Good customer service too, but that is a Japanese thing, I've noticed. Issues: - You only have until 00:00 to have a shower. I arrived at the hostel after a long day at 23:57 so I didn't have long to settle in my shared room and clean myself up. -They lock the doors of the building at 00:00 and there is no way of getting food inside after that time so make sure you EAT before getting there or take some food in to avoid the hunger pains and frustration. Apart form these two main issues, it is a quite decent hostel on a reasonable price range.
The hostel located in very near to Shin-Osaka station, just about 10 minutes walk. It's very convenient with clean room and friendly staff. There are 2 choices of bathroom, traditional bath room and private shower room, that only available in 1 floor but the toilets are available in every floor. The room price is exclude breakfast but it close to a convenient store so it's easy to find a quick breakfast-snack ^^
Stayed 2 nights at this YH, very comfortable beds and friendly staff. English instructions are available in any rooms for visiting foreigners! Very quiet and convenient place in Osaka :) Btw the view from 9th floor is quite good.
The hostel is clean and has strict rules, making it quite safe. There is a curfew from midnight to 6am during which doors are locked however staff were helpful and opened the doors earlier for me since I needed to be at airport by 7am thus needed to leave earlier than 6am. Room-mates were friendly and respectful, room had enough space and clean sheets were provided. Thanks
A great stay at Shin-Osaka backpackers! I was very impressed with the lovely staff & their overall level of English. The bunk bedrooms were extremely spacious, clean, light & modern. Each bunk bed had its own bedside lamp & shut away curtains. The Japanese bathroom complete with onsen was a great little touch! However, I found it a little strange that the bathroom could only be accessed at certain times 6am - 9am & 4pm until midnight. I love my long morning runs but unfortunately I couldn't commit to one while staying here as I was nervous I'd miss the 9am shower curfew! Complimentary coffee was served in the evenings only, I thought this was a little odd & would have been better in the mornings. Overall a great hostel experience! Just a shame about the bathroom curfew :)
