Mitsui Garden Hotel Osaka Yodoyabashi3.0 out of 5.0

The hotel is in a good location just 2/3 minute walk from the metro station. Breakfast is included in the price. The room was of a decent size with a very nice bathroom. Reception staff very friendly and helpful. I would recommend this hotel.
We stayed at this hotel for 5 nights. It is conveniently located close to Yodoyabashi Station, which provides connection to Osaka Station, Kobe, Kyoto and Nara. The room was small (but not unusual by Japanese standards) but very comfortable with everything you need - very clean, a comfy bed and pillow, free wifi, etc. Plus there was a cell phone in the room guests can use for free which allows for free international calls, which was a real bonus. Breakfast was included in our rate, and it was excellent quality with a lot of choices and courteous staff. The lobby has free beverages, a nice lounge, and computer stations. The hotel is located in a relatively quiet part of town near a river and is walking distance to Osaka Castle and Osaka Station. Next door is a 7-11 and there are coffee shops and other amenenities nearby. All in all, I was very happy with this hotel and would certainly stay again.
I have to premise that normally I like very much Mitsui Garden Hotels, having stayed in many of them all over Japan (I travel frequently to Japan). Regrettably Mitsui Garden Hotel Osaka Yodoyabashi is absolutely far from the high standard of other Mitsui Garden Hotels. Room is incredibly small (I asked to change my room with a higher category room, but no rooms were available), furniture are really old, and even cleanliness is not optimal. Staff is quite cold and unfriendly, and do nothing to support your request. There is no onsen (Japanese bath) and breakfast choice is poor.
The double bed in our room was about a third wider than a UK single, so wasn't great to share, and the room was more cramped than similar rooms in Tokyo. Kept banging my head coming out of the bathroom (I'm 6'1" and haven't had the same problem elsewhere outside the old castles). No wonder they wanted payment at check in - before we had seen the room! That said, it was clean, well located and had all the usual amenities. Barring the low bathroom door it would have made a fine single room.
The location is quite central, easy access to Umeda and Dotonbori shopping area. Many eateries around the vicinity of the hotel, local and western restaurants. There is also a guests lounge with self-service coffee and tea making machine. The room (twin bed) was of a good size. Saffs were generally friendly but communication was a bit of a problem
Hotel is old, and rooms are small (as the rest of Japan which is OK ) but this is the first time that I found dirt everywhere, the dust seems that has accumulated since 2 years ago, the blankets are like sand paper! I wouldn’t go back to this hotel
At $166 a night during peak cheery blossom season this felt like not the greatest value. The room was very small. That said, the hotel was clean, conveniently located, and in a neighborhhood that surprised us with lots of small local businesses. Among them is a great craft beer bar right around the corner from it. I would stay there again, but not for that price, especially with no breakfast. Staff was very friendly and helpful.
Enjoyed my stay at this hotel, room was spacious compared to the others I stayed in Japan! Also pleasantly surprised that there were two toilets in the twin room, which is great when traveling with friends or family. Would recommend this hotel!
We booked this hotel for 2 nights, in between, we went to Kyoto and Arashiyama. Hotel allowed us to leave our big luggages in the Hotel for 2 days free of charge after coming back from Kyoto and Arashiyama. Our plan did not include breakfast however, there is a drinking bar in the lobby, all hotel guests are free to get the water, tea, ice, or coffee with free. Staff is professional and can speak fluent English. Good Services overall. We book a Twin room with 2 toilets and 2 bathtubs inside the room. It is a very good idea for two ladies. The size of each bed is almost 4 sq. Room amenities include TV, kettle, tea bags and mini refrigerator, hair dryer, etc. The staff in the front desk is very helpful. She helped me to cancel the booking for crab lunch as my friend suddenly has suffered from skin allergy. Hotel is quiet easy to locate. We took the RAPIT from Kansai International Airport and transferred stopped at「天下茶屋」 and then changed to Metro「堺筋線」and get off at 「北浜駅」, go to Exit no. ６ and walk about 5 minutes to the hotel.
Very reluctant at giving this hotel 3 stars. Book through Expedia because that is the only way to contact them. They don't have an email on their website. I wanted to contact them directly about accommodating our 6 month old baby. We wanted just one bed and more room on the floor for her to sleep because she is starting to crawl. We didn't want her to fall off the bed. The beds are very small. My wife and I slept on one and barricaded the other with pillows for our daughter. We could barely fit, and we're not that big. The beds are probably the worst quality beds I've slept on in a hotel and the sheets are just as bad. To me the bed and sheets are what makes a room. You want to feel comfortable and have a good rest to re-energize the next day. They also don't have a safe box in the room. I like to keep my passport and extra cash locked up. The positive things about the hotel is its not far from yodobayashi station, walking distance and they leave new towels outside your room when you put the "do not disturb" sign out. The staff and service were good. No complaints there.
