it is all about time share

The good.. hotel is getting old and sure could use renovations, but it is clean and everything is in good working order. Staff are mostly very pleasant and even though the rooms are more fitting to a two star hotel the pools and shops bring up the rating. The rooms are large and well stocked. The bad.. lots of work is always going on and the contractors do not care about the guest. Yes they are nosey but here is one example of the need to be very cautious. The rooms are in separate buildings away from the main lobby. There is only one elevator in each building and at times you will be forced to walk up the six stories as the elevator is busy or just does not come. Each floor has an open outside long hallway getting you to your room. As we were walking along the open hallway a contractor was pressure washing the floor above and without notice a huge stream of nasty dirty water fell on our heads. Imagine its night time and you want a snack. So you have to commute to get to the store all the way back at the main building, when you arrive you find a very small selection of very overpriced items I bought a Kit Kat chocolate bar. I paid and then opened it a the cash counter. The chocolate bar was so old that it just crumbled, I showed the casher and she just stared at me. The ugly… from the moment you arrive there is nonstop pressure to buy time share. One old school gimmick one after another. This harassment includes early morning phone calls from sales people that are not connect

very disappointed

I wanted to stay here for part of my vacation this year because it was excellent when I stayed 3 years ago. I was very disappointed. The room was located on the golf course side with a terrible view from the balcony. Our bathroom had hair that was stuck to the walls and we were only given 2 towels for our stay. Other than that, the room was just standard, nothing special. On our last night, the hot tub had poop floating in it and no staff present to supervise the pools. Was charged almost $50 in hotel fees and no summary of charges was given. Not "vacation club" quality. Not worth the $$.

just an ok hotel

First night lost power in the room and staff just told us that engineering was working on it but if we were that uncomfortable then we could go to a shelter. The first night was the night before hurricane Mathew came by. We didn't lose any power from the hurricane only power before it even came. No lights or A/C The first night. Quite miserable. No offer of a refund either. After that night everything was ok. Location is not bad for any of the parks in the area.

great stay

My son and I stayed at the Marriot Grand for 4 nights and 5 days. It was centrally located to all the parks and the environment was wonderful with many activities for both children and adults. Room was very clean with full kitchen allowing us to save money with cooking some of our meals at the hotel.

The staff and service are great. The room was clean, organized and had a great view over looking the lake.

hotel has great potential.

The lobby was pretty but I was disappointed in the room we stayed in. I paid 2,800 for a 2 br, for 2 ppl. I was expecting a much nicer stay. The staff was friendly but the key card to the room was constantly not working. After the 3rd time, I finally asked them to check on our keys. It took 3 hours for them to fix the door and to get me and my baby in the room. Anyone with a baby knows what it can be like when you have a baby and it's 9pm and your baby needs to sleep and eat. Another big issue I had is the deadbolt to the room. My toddler can reach the doorhandle and just pull it down and the deadbolt unlocks and he can just walk out of the room if you aren't watching. One other potentially big issue was that there was a peanut under the chair, if I didn't see it before my son he would have eaten it. The cleaning crew needs to do a thorough job. My son could have choked or have nut allergy. Either outcome would have been a disaster of a vacation. I don't want to say the room was awful but these are very big key issues if you have kids. The washer and dryer was a plus and having a full kitchen was great. Just beware when you book these villas not all have a door even though the desriptide days bedroom. I called and the woman said sone bedroom villas only have a wall partition separating the areas. Not ideal if you need quiet for an infant. The grounds are really nice, there are sidewalks everywhere which I loved. Great for evening strolls with the stroller.

mother/daughter spring break long weekend

We had a great time relaxing at the resort for a 4 day spring break long weekend without a rental car. The pool decks never felt crowded and there was plenty of seating even when it was quite busy. Smaller pools were available throughout the resort when we wanted to slip away and read someplace a bit more quiet. We treated ourselves to hot stone massages which were fantastic! On a rainy day we discovered movie rentals in the recreation room for only $3/night which was a bargain compared to on screen ordering we've used other places. The chocolate monkey drinks by the pool were my daughters favorite! The only thing that would make our visit a 5 would be a more comfortable bed, that part was disappointing, much too hard for a good nights sleep. Any more than 4 days and we would have definitely needed a car, but the theme parks weren't on the agenda for us. The onsite store has everything you could need and more. All in all a great visit!

not the best

The staff was very nice and helpful. What I didn't like was that room had a very strong smell. Not sure what it was. Also, the toilet flushed on its own every hour or so which was loud and interrupted our sleep.
