Bay Lake Tower at Disney's Contemporary Resort3.5 out of 5.0

My family of four recently returned from a great vacation at Bay Lake Tower. The highlights for us were the Top of the World Lounge (great place to get a drink & watch the Magic Kingdom fireworks); easy walk to Magic Kingdom; and sitting on our balcony watching the Electrical Water Pageant. We had left 2 shirts at the pool and when we went back they were nowhere to be found. We filled out a lost & found form & Disney ended up mailing them to our house.
Great location for family with children. Superb swim pool and water slide and splash pad. The Wave restaurant has excellent service and food. Would recommend staying here. Within walking distance to the Magic Kingdom and the monorail also stops at the Contempory next door. 5 stars!!
I generally don’t offer a review of a resort that I know is generally excellent in all that they do. But recently I had a major injury that involved surgery and at just three months postoperative I am still in need of special assistance especially in my hotel lodging. I have found that this is not as easy to come by in most hotels. This hotel went above and beyond and made sure that anything I needed was there and as quickly as possible. I was once again amazed at the Disney experience and their attention to customer service. This was just one additional reason to give them the additional kudos that they deserve For their excellent customer service.
Great location! Short walk to Magic Kingdom and shorter line for security than it coming in via monorail or buses! Stayed in studio suite. A bit small, but mini kitchen was so handy. Great staff, of course-it’s Disney after all! Pool was great, but by 2pm a large portion of pool area is in shade/shadow of the building. Will definitely stay here again!
First time staying at Bay Lake Tower which I've wanted to do for years as a dvc member. I have to say it's been a wonderful experience starting out with Alfie at the front desk area who was beyond helpful! Thanks Alfie!! This isn't your typical resort, there are no full service restaurants in the building and you have to walk to the contemporary, but you're at Disney...you're going to walk a ton anyway and it's maybe a 5 minute walk. Rooms are modern and clean, with great views of Magic kingdom, and you can walk over! No complaints, great stay and highly recommended!
Don't book a studio room , if anything book the one bedroom Villa. Disney has changed, I used to rave about their service culture and the training that went into the service they provide to guests. From the staff at the hotel to the staff at the gates, Disney is not the fun place it used to be, they are losing their edge. The staff at the hotel was just okay, I get that if I was staying at a one star hotel on property but the Contemporary???No one went out of their way to say hello or greet us as we walked by. Many would rather talk to their co workers than us. There is no food service in the BLT just a vending machine. If you want coffee or breakfast you have to walk across the covered walkway to the larger Contemporary Hotel and retrieve it and then walk back to your room at BLT. This was such a pain every morning. The monorail is the same you have to walk a long distance to get to the entrance. Nothing was explained to us at check in so our dining plan got all screwed up, we ran out by the third day and had to pay cash for everything after that. Maybe had the front desk explained everything to us the pain this wouldn't have happened. The only nice people in the lobby seemed to be the Disney time share employees go figure. Is it just me or does anyone else find that because Disney is in a Union dispute that employees are taking it out on the guests. I used to use Disney in my training of my own team members as the best of the best, sorry I won't be doing that again. In the future if we return to Disney we will stay at the Swan or the Dolphin, trust me skip the Disney hotels. Swan and Dolphin are not run by Disney.
Family trip to Disney. Granted, we are not expert Disney people but this trip was nearly ruined by the folks at Bay Lake Tower. We got to the hotel late from the airport and asked what we needed to do to get setup for Disney with our magic bands. They said we didn’t have to do anything and they were a bit rude about it. We spent the entire next day paying with credit cards and not getting credit against our meal plan. We got home after a full day at Magic Kingdom, exhausted, pulled back the sheets and found mildewed sheets!!! Seriously, black spots all over the sheets. There is zero chance the cleaning crew did not notice. We called to let them know and they offered a fast pass for our group which caused all kinds of confusion at the park. The next night we return to the room and they’ve taken all of our dirty clothes and placed them on top of our neatly folded clean clothes. They threw shoes on top as well. We really scratched our heads at that one. The pullout bed for the kids was as soft as brick and there was no blanket. And the shower....wow. The rain head in the ceiling drips cold water on you while you are trying to shower. And if you switch the heads there’s hardly any water pressure. It’s just pathetic, especially considering the insanely high cost of staying here. Disney is such a great place with so much joy, but this place tried to zap it from us. Just know that if you book a room here you are paying a premium for location and nothing else. I’m sure there are numerous other options that actually care about their clientele.
Would be less than 1 star if I could! Literally staying at BLT as a hotel guest (not Disney club) right now and the service is terrible. The front desk takes at least 10 minutes at answer the phone at all times and no requests have been managed properly and room not even cleaned. When we finally got through they understood why we were upset but said it is mostly a vacation club property which is why they don’t have as many people available. I am not in the club and if I was I would expect someone to answer the phone. Would never join the club if this is how they treat you as a hotel guest. I have stayed at all types of hotels/resorts and seriously never had worse service. I couldn’t even wait to write this review. Disgusted for what they have the nerve to charge.
We stayed two nights at BLT before a Disney cruise and cannot say enough great things about our stay. We were in a theme park view studio and the view was amazing. I loved watching the monorail go by from our balcony. The walk to Magic Kingdom was worth the cost - quick walk there and first stop on the monorail back after MK. The room was plenty spacious for our family of four. Husband and I in the queen bed, 7 yo in pull out sofa and 2 yo in the pack n play which is available in the closet. We ended up putting the pack n play in the kitchen because my 2 yo wanted to talk all night and needed his own space. We would stop at the Contempo Café when we got off the monorail for ice cream snacks on the way back to our room. Definitely recommend BLT and can’t wait to visit again.
We stayed on the 8th floor in room 8126. It was a one bedroom villa. We could watch the fireworks from the window or out on the balcony. The room was great with all the amenities. It was my wife’s favorite place of all the Disney resorts that we have stayed over the years. I actually prefer Beach Club villas, because of the proximity to EPCOT. Our one major complaint is that you pay all this extra money for a washer and dryer, but our dryer did not do anything more than warm our clothes. We called maintenance, but they did not seem to have done anything. We had to air dry all our clothes the next couple days when we were staying at Universal. My only other complaint is that the transportation to the parks is very inconsistent. There were times that we waited only a few minutes, but there were times when we waited more than 30 minutes. One day it took us over an hour to get to animal kingdom.
