My family's stay at Bay Lake Tower was our second time renting a villa at a Disney Vacation Club hotel. Background on us: Disney fanatics (visit almost every year); 5 adults and a toddler in a 2-bedroom villa on the lake side. Dare I say, this is the best DVC hotel to stay at?! Let me explain... CHECK-IN: Upon arriving on a Monday at 9am, we were greeted by Austin at the front desk. He was chipper and super happy to help us. We were the only people checking in at this time (the perks of taking a 5:35am flight from NJ to get to WDW first thing Monday morning!). This has never happened to us before, but our room was ready when we arrived! Austin assigned all of our MagicBands to different credits cards. Setting up the credits cards for each MagicBand always takes a while - I wish Disney would let people do it on the MDE app/website. Upon reading our reservation notes that it was our parents' 25th anniversary, he gave them special pins. What a lovely touch! ROOM: Located on the 10th floor, we requested a lake view where you could also see the Magic Kingdom (some lake views allow this). We had a gorgeous lake view, and if you looked to the right of our balcony, there was MK! We watched the fireworks from our room once and from our floor where the elevators were, too. Our room was huge for a 2-br villa. Full kitchen and living room, one bedroom with a king bed, and another bedroom with a queen bed (can't confirm they are queens because they felt small, but that's what the website says). This room also had THREE bathrooms! We were grateful because the one shower head in the main bathroom felt like a water missile :X. The lighting in all the bathrooms was very dull. Hard to see your face sometimes! The cleanliness of the place surpassed what I expected. Except, Mousekeeping left a blue washcloth in our shower (guess they forgot when they were cleaning), so that was a little surprising, but the rest of the cleanliness made up for it. The beds were to die for. We knocked out every night because they were so comfy - not stiff, not plush, just perfect. The covers were comfy and clean, too. One annoying thing about the room was that our MagicBands were having issues getting into it. Sometimes, it wouldn't let us in at all, and once, my dad had to walk all the way to the lobby to get someone to let him in since no one else was around. The CM said maybe the door was old and needed to be updated, but that didn't really help since we couldn't always get in. They really need to do a QA check of all the MagicBand doors more often. We were worried about it not locking when we were inside sleeping, since that happened one night. LOCATION: You can't beat this location! The monorail still seems to take a while to go to MK (stopping and waiting at all resorts) and definitely to/from Epcot since you have to transfer at the TTC (and now especially since you need to go through security to get on the monorail at the Contemporary), but you can't get any closer. The best part is that MK is a 10 minute walk away! Imagine being able to walk home during park closing when the line to the monorail is a MADHOUSE (as that happened every night). It's such a perk! I'd pay big money to stay here again for the location specifically! HOTEL: The lobby was quaint and beautiful. We were in a corner room, so the walk to the elevator was a trek, but I don't mind not being near it since that usually brings noise with it. I only heard a baby crying I guess in a room above us one night, otherwise, it was pretty quiet. EXCEPT for the water parade at 10/10:30pm every night on Seven Seas Lagoon which could be heard LOUD and CLEAR from the room :X That was annoying, haha. To get to the Contemporary, you cross a bridge/walkway on the fifth floor. Very convenient and close. The Bay Lake pool is cute too - it is a good size, with a slide and also a poolside bar. DINING: Contempo Cafe is one of the best quick service restaurants and we only ate breakfast there! I heard they have lobster rolls for lunch or dinner that are amazing. Food always came really fast and you got a lot of food for the price. Chef Mickey's is always a must even though it's pricey, but fun to be able to walk right downstairs and meet some characters. All the shops were great, and the little bakeries inside the shops offered delicious treats. I've heard The Wave is good, but haven't been there myself. My parents went there for lunch once and it was dead, so maybe try and hit it up then. CAST MEMBERS: The Cast Members in this hotel particularly were super friendly! I know all CMs are, but they were helpful on another level. One night, we wanted to take a Minnie Van to the Boardwalk, and the front desk woman helped us until the Minnie Van arrived! Maybe 15 mins, since we were having trouble. She was so kind, and even took pics for us! INSIDER TIP: If you're going to the World Showcase at Epcot, instead of taking the monorail to the front of Epcot and doing the 25-30 minute to the Worlds, take a Minnie Van to the Boardwalk and walk to the Worlds from the International Gateway. Note on new Mousekeeping rules: Previously, they only did a full cleaning every fourth day at DVC hotels. Now, they do daily visits where they take out your garbages REGARDLESS if you have the do not disturb sign on your door or not (a new thing due to the recent Las Vegas shooting I believe). No one told us about the new daily service, so it was a surprise tp use arriving back at the hotel after a long day and saw our garbages were taken out (which is helpful, let me add). We had left all our valuables out too since we didn't think this would happen. We called the front desk and said someone should have told us of this new change and apologized. They definitely need to let people know this. Overall, I can't say many bad things about this place at all. It made me want to buy into this hotel myself (even though it's completely sold out). What a gem. I would stay here forever if I could!
We stayed here in a 3 bed duplex overlooking the lake, wonderful facilities and staff, only 10 mins walk from Magic Kingdom. We made use of the early park access and enjoyed many rides before the park was too busy. Best on site accommodation ever.
While the location is good for Magic Kingdom and the monorail is accessible, the hotel is way below Disney standards. The rooms are fairly clean but the Market and dining area is unacceptable. No attention to detail such as making sure coffee urns are full, the tables are dirty and slowly maintained. Food is below average. The pool is okay... the pool bar doesn’t serve lunch for some reason so you need to walk over to be Contemporary pool bar to eat and/or bring it back. The pool bar opens at 11 but actually opened closer to 11:30 most days. Service overall is very average at best. We will not be staying here in the future.
We were always a little hesitant to stay here because of the sterility of the restaurants and of the public spaces. The room was exactly as we expected - sterile and unwelcoming. A large family with many small children stayed in the room next to ours and could here every sound, scream, and conversation. It made for a very long night. The easy walk to Magic Kingdom is nice, but we missed out on our Epcot fastpasses because the monorail was offline and (apparently) that's the only way to get there in a reasonable amount of time (at least that's what the service desk cast member sarcastically informed us.)
We stayed here one night because my brother is a DVC member. The hotel is beautiful and all the amenities were great. The location to magic kingdom cannot be beat, you can walk there in 3 minutes. The fireworks from the top floor were spectacular. All of the cast members were extremely nice and helpful. We stayed in a studio so the room was a little small but very clean and comfortable. The pull out couch bed was the most comfortable pull out bed I have ever been on. You would never know it was a pull out. Very convenient to stay here if you are going to the parks.
the main reason to stay here is the location. this was our second stay. last time we had a 1 br suite (plenty of room for family of 4, kids loved the comfortable pull out sofa and chair) and then a 2 br suite this time because we went with the grandparents.. the rooms are dated in terms of decor and certainly not brand new, but very functional and comfortable - good appliances and washer dryer/etc. 2 bathrooms in the 1br suite and 3 bathrooms in the 2br suite. there is a nice playroom/community room on the first floor which is great when it's raining :) i personally think the location is the main draw (walk to MK, monorail back just one stop, can see fireworks from several locations). the service was lacking this time (front desk, luggage and housekeeping) which did affect our stay. they were booked to capacity at Bay Lake and the contemporary, but i'm sure that's not that uncommon. next time we may try the beach/yacht club area. one other issue is lack of dining reasonable dining option - the contempo cafe is not good. we previously stayed at the grand floridian, and their quick service restaurant seemed much better (though that was 2+ years ago) we did order from garden grocer.com so we had breakfast, and a few other scattered meals in the room. i've used that service twice and it has been great both times. the only reason i gave it a "very good" rating was that for the $$$, service should be improved.
My family recently stayed in standard view studio at bay lake tower. We loved it. We requested the fifth floor and that request was granted. We had room 7514...which is classified as standard view, but if you stand out on the balcony you are able to see part of bay lake and also space mountain and Cinderella's castle...lovely view at night when they are magnificently lit up. If you are using dvc points for your stay, there is a free laundry room on the first floor for your use. There is a website that you can use to monitor when the machines are in use and how much time left on cycles...you can also have the machines text you when your load is finished. Approximately a ten minute walk to the magic kingdom. People walking from Bay Lake/Contemporary have their own security desk to process them along the sidewalk before getting to the magic kingdom. Room was clean upon arrival. Trash emptied daily. Front desk sent extra towels up to our room at our request one evening. Friendly cast members for any interactions. Highly recommend.
Bay lake Tower one of our favorite resorts. We did learn that they closed the arcade for good. Which was the best arcade at Disney World. Always have a blast staying at BLT. Rooms are great and they have room service. The food and service at BLT is always very good. Kiddos had a ball at the pool going down the water slide. Great Resort!!❤️
Get a room with the view of Magic Kingdom. You can watch the fireworks from your balcony. In the morning you can watch Disney wake up with the train and the monorail. We had a one bedroom this time. Ask for high up room near elevator. Enough walking without doing at hotel. Rooms are big, bed comfortable, very quiet, good appliances. Pool area is wonderful. Separate from the contemporary. Parking is self park but close. You can walk to magic kingdom from room. Grills available to cook.
This resort is within walking distance to the Magic Kingdom. They check your bags along the walkway allowing you to walk right into the park with no other delays. The staff, rooms and facilities were excellent. The reservation process took a while but ultimately included the magic bands, luggage tags, and all necessary processes that made transportation and check-in a breeze. There was bus transportation to and from the airport included. The resort was NOT crowded and all staff members were a pleasure to work with. I would wholeheartedly recommend this resort and will definitely go back.
