We have stayed at Sugar Beach in many different units and have always enjoyed it however the past 2 times we have stayed we have seen a major decline in the overall maintenance of the property. While the unit we stayed in had beautiful views , the kitchen was sparse with things to cook in and utensils, the bed was very springy and uncomfortable and decor and furniture was extremely dated. The pools had been great in prior stays however this time there was so much grime and yuck around the edges people had written their names in it..The grounds were littered around the dunes and parking garage...The general upkeep on the property has declined significantly over the past few years which is unfortunate. It seems that the caliber of guests staying has also deteriorated... it was louder than ever this stay and some questionable choices being made around the pool at night among other things. I think perhaps we may be searching for a different property to stay at after years of enjiyment..it just isnt the same.

This is our second time staying here and wont be our last. We love this condo. The location, the beach, the balcony .. its just what we need. It’s clean, comfortable and has everything we need. Our only complaint is that the slider to the balcony is a pain to close and open. We couldn’t even lock it half the time. So I do think that needs to be fixed. I did suggest this the last time we stayed (the booking was with a different company) but taller chairs outside would be amazing. You either have to sit totally straight up to look over the balcony rail or slouch way down to look through the bars to look out at the beach and water. Taller chairs would help that and make it more comfortable. We loved the place as always. Will be back.

Perfect location, condo was nice but can definitely use some updating. Sliding door to balcony very difficult to open and a high metal plate it drags in is a tripping hazard. Cobwebs on the walls and top of wicker cabinet in living room is very dusty. Kitchen cabinets smell like mold and a very limited supply of kitchen utensils. Management was very good to work with/ great communication throughout our stay via text. Bed was very comfortable and nice having the washer and dryer although washer and dryer are also older and can’t wash and dry at same time. Overall though it was a nice place to stay.

Condo issues

Pictures on website look good, first open door into condo looks nice, but then you start seeing all the detail stuff that’s not listed… upstairs Shower would fill ankle deep first time we took a shower and called management and they sent someone out the next day to unplug all the hair that was in it… Shower “liner” has mold on the inside of the liner, no shower curtain just a liner… Handle is broken off of the shower/tub upstairs but you can still turn it on…Downstairs bathroom has a rusted old toilet bowl cleaner sitting beside the commode, nasty… and the nasty dryer vent runs from the dryer into that bathroom,… The washing machine agitator has the top broken off of it. Washer still works though… You cannot put clothes in the dryer to dry them and wash another load because you have to switch back-and-forth from washer to dryer so you can’t do washing and drying at the same time… Rust on the bottom of the old washing machine, and the vents in the ceiling are Black on the edges, looks like mold, and they drip water so you constantly have to keep the floor wiped up… the sliding door to the balcony was so hard to open that so much that we had to go buy some WD-40 just to get it to open. There were new looking Kohler, faucets in the kitchen and bathrooms, but the tub and the tub/shower were very old and horrible. The toilet paper holder upstairs bathroom is broken and looks like it had been hot glued back together and is loose on the wall. The barstools were rusty.

The room was clean , bed was very comfortable. It’s an older condo so everything has a dated feel . The elevator was broken on my side of the building so a long walk to the other elevator or a 3 story flight of stairs to the beach. People were nice and a beautiful view of the beach and pool.

Great value

Sugar Beach Condo was closer to the water than most, maybe becasue it's been there for a while. Most condos are now set back (for good reason) so far you can't hear the waves. Sugar Beach is dated (a lot of updates are going on and planed) but the unit itself was very nice, clean and was perfect for us two. Great location view of the beach. GREAT VALUE!

Sister trip

A very nice condo. Relaxed and was an awesome view from the balcony. I slept on the bottom of the bunk beds, very comfortable. Kitchen very clean all the amenities and more. Best condo we have stayed at..been coming to gulf shores for 4 yrs now and we really enjoyed our vacation and the beautiful condo.

Last minute getaway

We loved being able to go straight to our room to check in with the key code as we didn't arrive until almost 2am lol. Condo was clean, kitchen was stocked with the basics, view was great! Bathrooms are tight, not much room beside toilet. Outdoor furniture was puri new.
