If you want to experience an older historical New England home with creaky wood floors, antique door hardware and beautiful grounds, this is your place. The home has been upgraded to provide modern plumbing and wiring, but don’t expect an open concept modern home with large kitchen and huge en-suite with a 1700’s exterior, because such is not style of this home. The location is close to town and highways so you can easily travel to anywhere you want on the Central Connecticut coast. Yvette, our hostess, was easy to communicate with and very gracious. If I had any caution about this property, it would be accessibility. Like most historical homes, all entries into the home requires climbing stairs, and going to the upstairs bedrooms requires negotiating narrow staircases with taller steps than modern homes. Again, this is not a criticism of the home, but just a note to advise future guests with mobility issues to be sure they check out the floor plan and access points on this home before confirming a reservation. Overall, our family enjoyed the stay and I would consider this property again if I were to make a return trip to Old Saybrook.
