Very nice reno done at this hotel. However, a few things just so travellers know. You are only enjoying a bath if you are skinny. The tubs are nice and deep ; I am 6 feet about 220 and barely fit due to the inside molding. Nice to have a fridge and microwave, but the fridge didn't work ; our fault for not having someone come look at it. Also, no elevator in this hotel, so dragging luggage up is a pain. Happens a lot in the older Sandman because of the 2 floor setup. Also, when getting a reno, I fine a lot of Sandmans ( stay at them all over the province) don't install extra new outlets in their renos , just overload power bars everywhere. My wife said the shower was excellent and great hot water pressure here ! Also, the separate sink from bathroom is great, wish all bathrooms in hotels were set up like this ! The AC in the room was great ; and appears to be maintained regularlily. The new bedding the Sandman uses is awesome :) The wifi is a fail. I know all about access points in stores and know this can be a challenge. I also know that a lot of hotels having this issue install routers in every hall or in each room which can solve the problem nicely. Great internet can make or break a hotel stay, especially for business travelers who need to send files etc :)
It's a Sandman...... Pros: Bed very comfy Shower nice Staff friendly Cons: Room very dark and small Electrical issues ( lamps not working, lost all power when hair dryer and iron plugged in at the same time :/ ) Heater/Air conditioner has a mind of its own Don't order from Denny's!! Food brought to us on an open plate by a VERY rough looking fellow, no utensils, no napkins and $20 for a burger & fries.
I could not be more impressed with my experience at this hotel. I was here for an extended stay as, as we were moving to the area and the stress of finding a new house was eased greatly with how welcomed we felt at this hotel. We had many of our belongings with us and 2 cats in tow, but we were accommodated nicely and everything that could have been done for us was done. I want to thank Kathryn, Cathy, Kurtis, Charlie, Chan, Leah, Roxy and all the other staff that made my 2.5 month stay the best it could be. They were my first 'family' in the Okanagan and I'll be forever grateful.
SOMEONE GIVE STUART A RAISE. We called over to book a hotel to switch from a god awful hotel in the area. He had a room ready for us, as well as complementary snacks for the inconvenience of the other hotel. He checked us in super fast with no troubles. The room was immaculately spotless. I would recommend this place for sure. Affordable and clean!
We enjoyed our stay in Vernon at the Sandman. We had a well stocked kitchenette room. It had everything we needed including a frying pan, and most importantly a kettle. Kathy at the front desk was very friendly and helpful. We had a great sleep and enjoyed our quiet room even with the hotel fully booked with hockey teams on the week-end. For sure we would stay here again next time we are in Vernon.
This is a nice hotel the rooms are clean and there is coffee machine in the room with tea and coffee provided there is also a microwave and fridge in the room. The hotel is not in a great place, it does have a Denny's Restaurant attached to it and there is a pub restaurant just along the street.
Staff friendly , helpful and good knowledge of the area . Good eating places within walking distance for all diners .rooms good clean quiet .recomend for a visit .the staff are a great asset to this establishment
I had rebooked a room after calling in to cancel my original booking. I received the cancellation confirmation and a confirmation for my new booking - everything was in place, or so I thought. When we arrived to check in, they had outright told me that the original room was never cancelled, that it was a technical issue on their end, and that I would have to pay a $140 cancellation fee. This was all dropped on me before I could even explain the situation. I attempted to explain that the cancellation had been confirmed by my calling in, but all they would respond with were what was probably in their training script: "We have a cancellation policy etc., etc., etc.". They showed no flexibility or understanding. The General Manager was just as robotic and rude. Thankfully, I kept my cancellation confirmation e-mail. As soon as I presented this to them, they all presumed wrongdoing and "apologized for the complication". I will definitely not be returning to this hotel or even the hotel chain. I suggest the service culture be improved significantly or many more customers will be lost.
I understand that people have different experiences staying at hotels, but our stay was excellent. Having read some of the reviews, we wondered what we were letting ourselves in for, but our concerns couldn't have been dismissed much faster... from the very warm welcome from Elizabeth at reception, to receiving extra towels, hangers, robes for use at the pool. Kath was also very friendly, attentive and accommodating. All in all a fantastic stay and we couldn't fault the staff or the hotel.
My husband and I spent a couple nights at the sandman inn. Our room was terrific for the $99 per night special rate otherwise it would not have been worth the $205 regular rate. We enjoyed the indoor pool although it is older and the pool towels were very scratchy to the touch, nothing special, no hot tub or steam room/sauna. The guests are provided with nice robes and the big room shower was great! We ventured out for a late dinner around 9 pm at the attached Denny's restaurant. We were seated and then forgotten about. We waited a good 10 plus minutes for a server before we walked out, completely unnoticed too. When we returned to the hotel and walked by Denny's we looked inside the window and noticed the menus and chairs exactly how we left. We were forgotten about! Bad customer service. The hostess seemed more involved with her after work life than her job! We did go back for breakfast and the morning staff was more efficient, however, still not great customer service. Parking is also an issue at this hotel as Denny's shares the parking with the guests. Their should be specific assigned hotel parking. That was rather frustrating. Overall experience 2.5 out of 5.
