Nice hotel with wonderful staff and facilities. Walking distance from restaurants and activities. Yadira is especially sweet as well as the young woman at the front desk. Very good price. Extremely good value for money

This hotel is on a major street, traffic is heavy, but being a former Spanish villa, the rooms face inwards so noise is minimal. Beds a bit hard, but rooms are clean and spacious. Location excellent. Staff very friendly. Good breakfast.
The hotel is more than ok. Its location that some reviewers write about was not an issue for us, a five minute stroll thru beautiful old town oaxaca past stunning architecture being hardly an issue. The food was below average, but then most hotel food in any country is expected to be below good local restraunt standard. For us a it was the interim step between first arriving in a new city and staying at the most expensive hotels and having the confidence and knowledge of finding a short term apartment. Fair value for money compared to other more known , expensive hotels in the old town.
We were very happy with our location and with the warmth and friendliness of the staff overall. However, we missed a certain level of attention to details. A towel or bathmat would be picked up for cleaning, and not replaced. Kleenex emptied and not replaced. Being windowless, our room was dark to start with, and when two bulbs went out it was very very dim and took two days to repair. These issues were all very small in themselves...yet attention to these kinds of details seems easy and would lift the level of a visit to this hotel immeasurably.
We were on a driving trip through Mexico and chose this hotel because it was easy to get to. The downside was that the street was quite busy and some of the street noise found itself into our room. The WiFi was great and we had a coffee maker in the room, but they ran out of coffee packets. The service was gracious and the parking lot across the street was convenient though getting in and out of it presented a challenge as it is an old building with a narrow gate. Most of the inconveniences of the hotel were due to their need to preserve the old architecture, thus retaining it's charm.
Room was comfortable, clean, with irratic hot water. Located on the edge of historical district within easy walk to majority of tourist destinations, restaurants, markets, and festivities. Friendly, helpful staff that could arrange anything including some off hrs. meals that we ate there. Breakfast was excellent and some other meals were quite good and very reasonably priced. A great choice overall and when we return to Oaxaca will probably stay there again.
We had planned on going to Oaxaca for my birthday. We had an AWFUL experience with our flight (Aeromexico). Our original flight was canceled so we were not going to make it to Hotel Aitana on the night we originally planned. Instead of penalizing, the hotel was very friendly, helpful, and let me apply the 1-night stay we had for the night we finally did arrive. Because of the day delay, we wanted to try and get a flight out to Huatulco instead of the bus trip we originally planned. It was past 6pm but Hotel Aitana still helped call on our behalf to arrange for a last minute flight out the next morning to the coast. Just in time for my birthday. So not only is the staff friendly and extremely helpful, the hotel itself is pleasant, clean, and has a lot of wonderful character. The room was comfortable and I have absolutely no complaints! I am so grateful for their hospitality and service! I would highly recommend staying at this hotel.
Although the exterior appears modest, the architecture of this hotel is inviting, interesting, and beautifully maintained. This may be the cleanest hotel I visited on this trip. The rooms are large with very high ceilings, good closet and storage space, and updated bathrooms. The restaurant food is reasonably priced and tasty (not gourmet). The internet is available via wi-fi and the free use of two computers in the central courtyard. There is a roof top patio - unfortunately I was not told about it until my departure. The location is convenient for walking downtown and has a bus stop directly across the street. My only disappointment was lack of sunlight and this would have been solved by going to the roof patio if I had known about it.
