Excellent location, easy parking, near to other restaurants and handy sainsburys/petrol. Room comfortable and clean. Good value. Staff friendly and helpful. Breakfast good, would just suggest that scrambled and fried eggs should be cooked to order as they overcook quickly in the covered hot plates. The rest was plentiful and good. Serving staff friendly and helpful.
...don't keep knocking hourly from 8:30am to try and clean it. Shame that the above impacted my one night stay as the room was decent, bed comfortable and breakfast was excellent. The check in and out was quick and easy and general hotel facilities were nice enough. Free, plentiful parking was also a pleasant change from some city locations. I arrived late, so would have been nice to have a minibar with soft drinks available.
We have all have a lovely six days at the Holiday Inn. All the staff were very welcoming when we arrived, rooms were clean and newly decorated. In the restaurant there was a wide choice of meals and nothing was too much trouble and if alternative meals were requested they were provided. All in all a very nice place to stay.
Good but not great hotel. Generally very clean and wonderful staff but the rooms are somewhat dated and need updating. I ate in the restaurant a couple of times and the food is good, better than I expected. Parking is easy and access to the city is excellent.
With about a 15 min walk along the pleasant canal side to the city centre the hotel is close enough to enjoy a visit to Nottingham but far enough out to avoid the noise from revellers. The rooms were clean and comfortable, not the most up to date but still good. Reception staff were welcoming and helpful. The delight was the food offer with a limited menu but with restaurant quality evening meals, good, well cooked breakfasts and charming friendly staff.
This hotel was very comfortable, the food was really good and the staff were very friendly and helpful. It is on the outskirts of Nottingham but there is a gorgeous riverside walk takes you straight to the centre. There are pubs dotted along the riverbank. We had a great few days
Before going away to Nottingham I had a procedure and like with any procedure you don't think things could go wrong, well at I thought nothing would go wrong! On Monday evening I started feeling very rough and feverish that not even pain killers could control my fever. I ended up calling 111 and ended up going to an out of hours gp. When I got to reception there were two gentlemen who looked very concerned and asked if I was ok, I explained I am going to an out of hours gp and if they knew the way? The gentlemen printed me out a map of the directions to the gp practise. The hotel has been so good to my husband and my two boys I cannot explain. They all took my husband and my two boys under their wings and really took care of them. I really wanted to say a big thank you to Abbey the hotel general manager, Chris the manager on duty, James the manager in charge of breakfast and Martyn and Albert the staff on duty the night I went into hospital. The hotel really look after their guests and I felt at ease knowing that my family were taken care of by these wonderful people. I can't thank you enough, they have a wonderful team of people and genuinely caring people. I will definately be coming back to Nottingham.
We arrived to a very friendly chap on reception who said he was originally from stoke, excellent manners a credit to the hotel. We went up to our our room and I just said wow. It was fantastic the beds and pillows are so comfortable, the tele is a good size the bathroom was brilliant all in all I was so impressed. We went down to dinner and the food was fantastic. The next morning we had breakfast and again the food fantastic. I can very much recommend this hotel, wonderful. free parking and a lovely walk along the canal which takes you into the city centre. Just two minutes walk away is a huge sainsburys if you need anything. I really want to stay in this hotel again when the occasion arises. Can't wait. Also I must add the wi fi is brilliant here.
I stayed here recently for four nights for a course. Check in was very smooth and throughout my stay, the staff were excellent. First room allocated (203) smelt so bad from the drains that I asked to be moved. Moved to the room next door (201) and this was better but there was still a distinct drain smell. The room itself was large but very old fashioned/outdated and really not very clean. The carpets were dirty and the throw that was on the bed was heavily stained. The bathroom had someone else's hair in the bath and that, with the whiff of drains, made it all a bit yuck. The furniture in the room had distinct chips in it - the edges of the desk for example were chipped and snagged my jumper. The bath had a crack in it and looked grubby despite housekeeping cleaning it every day. The wardrobe was an old fashioned one and was dirty inside. On a positive, the hairdryer was a decent one and you were able to plug it in anywhere. The room was potentially for two people, but you only got one "comfy" chair, and one desk chair. The comfy chair was anything but....! The food was okay if you liked chips with everything. You certainly got a big plateful of food, but not necessarily the greatest quality. The lunch provided as part of our course was really hit and miss - it was almost as though the chef opened up the fridge and just used up leftovers. For example, a cold spaghetti with cucumber salad anyone? Odd to say the least. Parking was excellent and plentiful, and as I said, the staff were great - really helpful and considerate. The lady who cleaned my room was incredibly cheerful but she just had too much to do. As regards the cost - I thought the £75 a night without breakfast to be far too much for a room that wasn't particularly clean and had old fashioned and chipped furniture. I have recently stayed in a Travelodge and also a Premier Inn - both of which were roughly £30 cheaper a night and were comparable in terms of room size and options available such as wi-fi etc. I would stay here again as it is very handy for town but only if the price was considerably reduced. I like the Holiday Inn brand but this one was just too expensive for what it is.
Spent a night here on a business visit to Nottingham. Good breakfast and comfortable room. Free wifi and parking. Plenty of food options locally if you'd rather not eat in the hotel restaurant or wander into the city (£8 cab). Hedgehog on reception. Nice.
