The Sebel Launceston

4.5 out of 5.0

The Sebel is a modern well appointed Hotel that is close to everything within the CBD. Friendly, efficient staff happy to offer suggestions and assist in any way possible. The Clock Radio with USB charger is fantastic I’m looking to buy one for home, exactly what the business traveller wants. Will be even better with the restaurant opening after a renovation, in room dining still available.

We stayed in a one bedroom apartment which had a kitchen and laundry. It was well appointed and plenty of room to relax and feel comfortable. The king sized was very comfortable and the bathroom even had a spa bath (although we didn't use it) as the shower was very nice. The Sebel is well placed in Launceston and parking (at $6 a day) is easily accessed underneath. Only disappointment was the restaurant was being refurbished (we had been advised of this), however the Mercure was close by as were other restaurants. All in all an excellent place to stay.

Stayed here for one night. Rooms were dated but clean and comfortable for four adults. Walking distance from all parts of launceston. On site parking available for $8 per night. Staff friendly and welcoming.

Room was spacious, location good, staff friendly HOWEVER having booked nearly 11 months in advance we were very disappointed and frustrated on arrival that the restaurant was closed for refurbishment. It would not have been rocket science for the hotel management / ACCOR group to have flagged that in advance of our arrival. Thankfully the alternatives for food around the town were plentiful and good quality.

The front desk staff were fantastic and extremely helpful. Our room was a nice size studio but was tired. The furniture was faded, the carpet was dirty, and the paint was falling off the ceiling in the shower. The hot water was almost warm enough. Our remote for the TV was so dirty we used our own antibacterial wipes to clean it before uses.

Hotel is tired and parts of it are under reconstruction. They don't bother telling you about the reconstruction and continue to take bookings and worse put some of my colleagues in rooms directly above the construction with noise starting at 7am. The in house wifi is a joke and doesnt connect. Several attempts with the front desk to rectify proved fruitless.. If you are travelling on business you should find another hotel. Launceston had one of Australia's only gigabit networks available so this is inexcusable. They also make you pay for parking under their own hotel. Money grab.!

Hotel is well managed at edge of Launceston city but couple of minutes drive to city Centre. Clean and well managed. Water pressure a little low in bathrooms and parking can be quite limited during weekends.

We just love staying at the Sebel in Launcestion, all staff are so obliging ang offer excellent service. The menu in Market Place restuarant is excellent and there is a fantastic choice. Reception are so obliging and curious when you arrive or depart!

The team at the Sebel are without exception outstanding. Every person we dealt with was a delight and could not have been more helpful. From the time we arrived they could not do enough to help. I would recommend anyone visiting Launceston to stay here. Our suite was spacious and a great place to spend our visit.

The Sebel Launceston is a good venue with an equal spread of pros and cos. A few tweaks and you can really get the best of this venue. Ask to stay in a room at the back, as this corner positioned location is extremely noisy with trucks going past all hours as well as the drilling from the refurbishments that are going on at the front of the building. Ask for the special parking key so you can actually open your door to your car to get your luggage, baby and pram out of the car. Ask for a referral to a nice restaurant as the room service meals are utterly diabolical. I ordered 12 hour lamb, it was certainly 12 hours or more of re-heating and at $38 was probably the worst meal I have wasted good money on in over 5 years or more. It was no surprise to see the venue was advertising for a new restaurant manager. However, was is good about this venue is that there is very well appointed kitchenette, good quality linen, the bed was comfortable, the toiletries were high quality and Australian made. But best of all were the tireless and very helpful housekeeping staff. We have a messy toddler travelling with us and the housekeeping did not miss a beat in keeping our room spotless.
