We booked an afternoon tea for four through the Groupon website and made a nice saving. The process works as our table was available when we arrived. WE ordered a Prosecco package for a little extra but it was well worth it. Staff were attentive and efficient. The food provided was plentiful and in fact we had to ask for a 'doggy bag' for two scones - which was duly provided. A great view of the Tower from the restaurant. All in all a very pleasant 90 minutes.
Whilst there were positives with the hotel of course it is only natural to focus on the negatives... The staff were very friendly and approachable, breakfast was lovely although no mushrooms, however the lady preparing the eggs was the friendliest person i have seen serve at any hotel and location is great. The negatives were there was no aircon or ventiliation in the bathroom, there were cobwebs on the ceilings and on the walls and above the bed, there was a huge photo frame above the bed which is a hazard should it fall on you and the parking was far too expensive when you're already paying so much for a Hilton hotel where there are no spa facilities as you would normally get.
Chose this as it was a short walk from all the main tourist sites but just far enough away that it was quiet. The hotel is what you would expect of a Hilton, clean, simple design with friendly staff. The Clifford castle was opposite, so I would recommend getting a room with a view.
Helpful staff, room was great room 203,great views overall i would stay here for a visit to York ,food was of a high standards and reasonably priced . Nothing was not to much trouble from start to finish.
Had a great nights sleep, but had to do some cleaning of the toilet when we arrived. That should be taken care of? Great location with all attractions within walking distance. Valet parking available too.
Went with my wife for afternoon tea one of her birthday presents Nice sandwich selection which u could swap for your favourite a nice change from sorry madam but it's set in stone. Warm scones with jam and cream Brownie fruit tart and excellent sponge walnut cake Endless coffee again a nice change from the one pot. Nice friendly staff in pleasant restaurant with a view of Clifford's Tower. Good value for money and would go again Barry
We had an excellent 3 days in York playing tourist. The hotel was very good and the staff were extraordinarily helpful without exception. Our room had all we needed and the bed was very comfortable. Wiith a huge range of restaurants to choose from in York we only had breakfast and a snack lunch in the hotel, but breakfast was very good. A very pleasant stay; thank you
We stayed for the night (20th July). Really welcoming receptionists, our room was clean. Good bar and restaurant area. Breakfast was excellent. Loved how close all attractions and restaurants are to this hotel aswell 👍
Very good position in York close to attractions, good restaurants and riverside bars. About 15min walk from the main railway station. Conference facilities were good and good lunch. Staff very friendly and helpful.
The hotel is modern, clean and manages to combine fairly contemporary surroundings with a sense of grandeur somehow. The staff are just so efficient and incredibly friendly from check in, to the bar staff to the wonderful lady who has a smile for everyone while she is cooking the eggs at breakfast. I must make a special mention of Andrew Coggin, who assisted us enormously in the planning, cancelling (due to health issues) and re-booking our trip. He could not have been kinder and what an ambassador for the Hilton brand. Really well located straight in front of the castle. I really wouldn't stay anywhere else in York.
