We enjoyed our stay. This hotel has very friendly & helpful staff. It's a large property, but they have shuttles running constantly if you don't want to walk. Food was good with lots of variety and we loved the golf course! My wife and I visited for our anniversary, so we left the kiddos at home and enjoyed staying in the Royal Beach Club (Adult only area) . Just an overall great experience.
We had a wonderful experience. The resort is large, but you can call concierge for transportation from one end to the other. Food was excellent. You will need to set up reservations ASAP for the entire stay as the good restaurants were booked for us past our stay. Many staff members remembered our names from check-in to the day we left! Be sure to do some extra activities/excursions and check out the shows in the evening. All liquor is premium and all-inclusive. Adult areas were separate from family areas, but most young children stayed in the kids camp.
The rooms were big and very comfortable! The staff was excellent and very friendly. I thought the food was going to be just ok after reading the reviews. Maybe they addressed the problem, but I thought the food in all the restaurants, including the Mitra buffet was very very good!!
The room was nice and big. The only issue we had was with flies coming out of the drain which was gross. I had to kill a few spiders as well.
Zip lining, horseback riding, tubing and hot springs were fun. Unfortunately, we were told we had to eat at the buffet the whole time. Being elderly eating with friends is a major part of the experience.
It is a big hotel, ideal for people with the following hobbies: - Golf - Cycler - Runners Great for families not much for couples or singles. I prefer RIU for couples
Hotel, grounds, stuff excellent!!! Exceeded our expectation for a n all inclusive hotel. Extremely helpful personal. Excellent selections of food all restaurants and buffet. Lots of smiles and Beautiful nature in Costa Rica. Will definitely return one day with kids this time!
I thought it was good value for the money. nice location, nice beach, pretty good food. You had to pay extra though for premier liquor. Costa Rica itself is spectacular, and we are looking to return and probably book at this hotel again PS I have no idea about the WiFI, but the review made me select something
Very nice trip. My wife and i enjoyed it very much. The experience of Costa Rica, coupled with the amenities of the hotel gave us an excellent trip.
Absolutely a wonderful resort. My husband and I went there somewhat as a second honeymoon. The food was excellent. Beautiful setting, great pools, and great drinks. Would recommend to anyone!
I went to a large resort in Guancaste because I desperately needed relaxation i didn't have time to make a lot of plans. The Westin was perfect for this type of trip, because the staff will take care of everything for you. The excursion company, which is great, has several locations right on site. The staff is friendly, professional, and well-trained, always willing to find a way to help. The grounds are beautiful and I love it that local animals are welcomed onto the property, instead of shunned. As a single traveler, I always felt safe at Playa Conchal.
Great experience! Definitely recommend! Make sure you contact the resort before you land to schedule a shuttle from the airport to the resort!
Amazing place for any type of vacation. The staff is incredibly friendly and accommodating. The food is delicious, and the rooms are beautiful!
For an all inclusive resort The Westin was a great place to stay. The hotel was beautiful and facilities clean. The food was ok, some restaurants better than others. Would like more flexibility with restaurant choices. Didn't like having to make our decision on where to eat for the week the first day we arrived, having not even seen the facilities. The staff was friendly and went out of their way to please the guests.
Loved the natural settings of the resort, the dinner restaurants were great, adults only pool was even better with a bar. Only thing they could have done better was more breakfast and lunch options... dinner reservations need to be made days in advance or you won't get one. The nightly entertainment was limited also. If you are looking for a large beach you won't find it here, but it really is pretty and blue on a sunny day.
Pro: -Room clean, resort landscape is nice, employee tried to make you happy but(read cons) -Italian restaurant is very good (read Cons) Cons: -Employee need to train a lot more to be 4 start Hotel( right now they equal to 2 start hotel employee). It took 1 hour 45 min to check in 5 rooms. -Only 4 restaurant for dinner and they are small. Two Italian are good but only 1 of it have AC, Asian restaurant is OK and the worse is Latin American both food and service. -Pool and Pool Bar stop service at 7 pm
I’ve traveled to 18 countries, but this was my first trip to Costa Rica. As we planned our vacation, we researched many resorts in the country. We mainly picked the Westin because we’ve had good experiences at other Westin resorts, and we read mainly positive reviews from other travelers. The resort is represented on several travel sites, and they have a website, but none of these really do the place justice. It was even better than we had expected. THE RESORT The resort is fairly large, but they will pick you up and drive you anywhere you want to go if you don’t want to walk. You need only ask. All the grounds are landscaped and well maintained. Our room was clean and was stocked with amenities and a full mini-fridge. Everything was in working order. THE SERVICE The service from the staff was nothing short of spectacular. Everyone was extraordinarily friendly, and it felt genuine and sincere, not like they were just being nice because it’s their job to be nice. At one point I was standing on a resort walkway looking at a map trying to determine which way to go, and a woman on the housekeeping staff stopped what she was doing to come over to me and ask if she could give me directions. Everyone on the resort greats you with a smile and “hola” or “buenos días” as you pass by. I asked for something slightly odd from the room service and the response I received was “no problem sir, you’re the boss here; we will take care of that.” Everyone that you will interact with speaks both English and Spanish. I tipped many resort employees during the week, but I was never asked for a tip, and never made to feel like it was obligatory. I’ve stayed in about a dozen resorts, many with very good service, and I think this resort had the best service I’ve experienced. THE FOOD There is something that everyone will like. In addition to the buffet for breakfast, lunch, and dinner, they have several nice restaurants for evening dining. At least three options are open at all times during the day. You can also order room service. We tried all the specialty restaurants and loved all of them. The buffet food was average to above average… nothing I tried was bad. The specialty restaurant food was all above average to excellent. A few of the dishes that I had would rival some of the best restaurants I’ve visited… and yes, I eat in nice restaurants with some frequency. If you don’t find some food you like at this resort, you’re a food snob on a level I’ve not yet encountered. THE COUNTRY Costa Rica is BEAUTIFUL! It’s a good blend of upscale resorts and modern conveniences, and unspoiled nature. The people are very kind and welcoming. We never felt unsafe in any of the areas we visited. When venturing off the resort, there are several vendors selling items and services, but you will not be attacked with a wave of high pressure selling like some places I’ve visited. Also, I felt like the locals were not trying to scam me. They will bargain and haggle with you on pricing, but I never felt like I was being taken advantage of. It wasn’t a shell game or three-card hustle buying experience. One of the vendors at the artisan tent on the resort property jumped up from her table and ran after a woman because she had forgotten to take her change from the transaction. It’s rare to see such a display of honesty, and this really impressed me. I can’t say enough about the good nature of the people here. I would definitely recommend the Westin resort. I will stay their again someday. Don’t hesitate! Book your trip now.
The Westin was great! We went here for our honeymoon the first week of June and loved it! Costa Rica is amazing and the Westin was a great place to stay. The hotel grounds are very nice and always kept very clean. The staff could not have been friendlier and the food was amazing! Would definitely recommend!
I had a very good experience. Room was well cleaned and stocked, except I did have to ask once for refill on in room fridge. Room service excellent, and food was great. Also sports and water (pool, ocean) good, as was all inclusive. only downside was an early AM shuttle to connect to off propery trip was late, but I was close enough to walk. Free internet helped as well. I would rate a 4 out of 5. Night time activiies were very limited, needs a bit more. Would go back
If I could give The Westin a -10 I would. From things being stolen from my room (there is a pass code for the safes in the room and employees know it) to the rooms being run down. The food is horrible and you can't get reservation so u end up ordering room service or going to the buffet which is the worst buffet ever. Don't take there shuttle service anywhere they may forget to come pick u up. it happened to 5 of use we finally took a taxi back to the resort and then had to fight to get a refund. Service at meals needs work when u ask for coffee and water at breakfast 5 times and don't get it till your done eating. something is wrong. that happened 4 times we started getting our own coffee and we got dirty looks. Please don't think im the only one who felt this way about the westin I witnessed a lot of people screaming at employees at the pool 5 time and at meals every single day. Service and conditions r really bad. Don't spend your hard earned money here.
