Got a top floor room facing the Millenium Bridge and overall was a good stay. Room was clean and had a full kitchen but will note it was a mini fridge rather than full size. Couldn't hear any noise from adjoining rooms all shared walls seem to be concrete. Walking distance from grocery stores, gyms, etc so I only had to take transport when going to work in Gateshead. Buffet style breakfast for free in the mornings and some nights of the week there is also a free dinner. All of the staff I dealt with were friendly and taxis came quickly when they called for one. If there is anything to complain about the bed sheet is a duvet and incredibly hot I had to pull out the thick portion every night to not wake up in sweat.

I had e-mailed the hotel, before arriving, with some questions about the local area and my requirements for the room. The responses had already shown that the staff were really kind, friendly and helpful and, throughout my five night stay, they were untiringly welcoming and willing to do whatever it took to help. I never had the sense that any of this was done because it was part of the job, it was clear that the staff worked really hard to give guests an excellent stay because they wanted to do this. Jason and Francesco really stood out – they could be excellent role models for all hotel staff. I had wanted a quiet room on the top floor, with a view of the river – really, I wanted something which was comfortable, a small ‘home’ feel with a certain something which made it feel special. I was advised, by the staff, to opt for the Deluxe Studio Suite They had advised me well because the studio was lovely. Clean, comfortable, it had everything I needed to give me the relaxed feeling of being able to cook for myself whilst having the deluxe feeling of a hotel, of escaping for a few days. The kitchen had everything you needed – good quality hot plate and extractor fan, all utensils, pots and pans, crockery and cutlery, microwave, small refrigerator, enough storage space for groceries and small dishwasher. There was a sofa in the room but I preferred to watch TV (which had a huge choice of TV channels) from the ‘snugness’ given by the bed! The bathroom was the size you’d expect in such a hotel, clean and with a shower. What surprised me – and was a huge relief – was that the suite was incredibly quiet. One of the quietest I have ever experienced. Even on a Friday and Saturday night, I heard nothing from neighbouring rooms or outside. Wonderful! What did disappoint me, however, was the fact that the windows don’t open. I like to sleep with a window open at night; I feel a little claustrophobic without that ability. Whilst the air conditioner unit worked and was not noisy, it did not give me that feeling of the room being ventilated or the feeling I would normally get with a window open. I know that many hotels have the same issue, for health and safety reasons perhaps, and it is a very personal ‘complaint’ perhaps but I could not escape that feeling that I really wanted to open the window. I got up a few times in the night often to turn the air con on or off, depending on whether or not it got cold or I felt slightly claustrophobic. The hotel is situated about 20 minutes’ walk away from the city centre and 10 minutes’ walk from the Quayside. Being so close to the Quayside is great if, like me, you are an early morning runner as it gives a great and easy route for all distances. Also about 15-20 minutes’ walk away is a large Morrisons supermarket. In the hotel there is a small gym room, a laundry room and small shop. It would be good if the shop stocked dishwasher tablets (I didn’t notice any but then again, perhaps they were stocked and I just didn’t spot them) and non-dairy milks (but pure/organic ones with no additives as they are healthier and less likely to cause problems for intolerance, allergy or sensitivity sufferers, in my view, and would fit IHG’s mission to be a healthy and environmentally aware hotel chain). But this is not a criticism, purely a suggestion. The breakfast selection would suit most tastes - hot and cold possibilities, I chose to prepare my own breakfast after finding out that the berries and fruit salad were not fresh – the berries were pre-packed frozen and the fruit salad also pre-packed, not freshly prepared. It would also have been nice to have some non-dairy milks – such as pure/organic almond milk – for those with a cow’s milk intolerance or allergy. Again, I say both these things as suggestions. This hotel is really nice and to have fresh fruit on offer at breakfast would fit with the sense of care and attention and quality you witness here. WIfi is free and reliable. Overall, I had a lovely stay, largely due to the kindness and helpfulness of the staff and the quiet comfort of the Deluxe Studio Suite.

Large Suite, comfortable double bed. Flat screen TV. Every amenity you could want and more including dishwasher. Home from home. Free bar 18:30-19:30, free tea/coffee 24/7. Free wifi is good Good location, 10 minutes from centre. Car park £8 for up to 2 days Breakfast included is OK but nothing special

After staying here I can’t imagine booking into a hotel again when visiting Newcastle. The concept is spot on and I certainly felt at home. The suites are so well equipped, spotlessly clean. Nothing is too much trouble.

Stayed here for two nights for my wife’s birthday and could easily spend a lot longer in this hotel. Fantastic location, 5 mins walk to quayside and 10-15 mins walk to city centre. Staff very friendly, all the rooms and communal areas are spotless and fresh. The rooms are very homely with everything you need, great comfy bed, great shower, TV with sky sports/BT sports and fast WiFi. Can’t fault it at all - the best Place to stay in Newcastle

I stayed in the staybridge suites with my boyfriend for two nights this weekend. We couldn’t be happier with the service. The car park was secure, the staff were very helpful, the breakfast was great and our room was perfect. All cooking equipment was included as well as hair dryer, iron and ironing board. It was decorated lovely and made a comfortable home for the weekend.

My children, Mother and I stayed here for a weekend. Brilliantly located for the Quayside and Seven Stories. Also a short walk into the centre of town. Lovely clean, modern room with all the facilities you need. Great view from 6th floor! Lovely friendly staff.

We enjoyed our stay in this suite-style hotel. Parking on site was very easy, the check in staff were very friendly and helpful, our room was large and clean and the bed was comfy. Air conditioning worked well. It was about a 15-20 minute walk down to the river and downtown area.

Arrived late morning last Sunday and parked in the hotel car park, £8. Suites are not in a great area but they are a 5 minute walk from the quayside. We noticed a sign at reception saying that we had been nominated as 'Guest of the Day' and would basically be treated like royalty but when we mentioned this to the young lady on reception she thought we were making it up and had just come downstairs! This was quite funny and we engaged in some banter. So what were the benefits.....early check in, free car parking maybe? Apparently there may be something in our room but we couldn't check in yet. When we did finally check in we were offered a bottle of beer....and that was that. Suite was set up for someone staying more than one night but price was reasonable, we didn't need a kitchen.Travelling with a parent so asked for a twin but no twin beds and not such a big double. The whole place is very laid back and you eat in a spacious lounge style area with TV's which is a good set up. Breakfast area has everything you need with the drinks in the fridge - take what you need. All in all a very pleasant experience - would definitely use again.

Stayed here for 5 nights in 2 trips over the last week. Great place, friendly staff and they offer a great complimentary breakfast. Only downside rooms were a little warm and the ac didn’t bring it down enough. Overall definitely worth it and such as easy walk into town
