This was the second time we stayed at Ibis Newcastle, and Jo-Anne and her team went out of their way to help us after the event we were travelling for was re-scheduled twice. The staff are friendly and courteous, and while the room (particularly the bathroom - not enough room for two people to get ready to go out) is a little on the small side, it's clean and comfortable.
I called into the hotel an hour before the due date to cancel the booking due to a plumbing leak in my house - the lovely person on reception helped me rebook the room for a later date (just wish I had her name however the date was Oct 26th thanks she was very good had lovely phone manner and pleasant to speak to we had a laugh about water all through my house I needed it
We had a carless family walking holiday stay at the Ibis which is well situated for public transport. The Ibis is near the shopping area of Marketown, within the city free transport area, the new Newcastle train station is about 500 yards away, the Stockton ferry about 25 minutes walk along the Hunter river and bus stops nearby for both transport into the city and to all localities outside the city. The hotel itself is of a good quality as you would expect of a 3*. There was a good selection of food a breakfast. The hotel staff were very friendly, cheerful and helpful...going that extra yard to make the stay enjoyable. We were able to maximise the benefits of public transport with the use of the Opal card doing A to B walks mainly along the coastal areas Stockton and Swansea beaches even taking in the final section of the Great North Walk from Charlestown to Newcastle. There is a lot of construction going on in the city area and when this is completed the Newcastle experience will be even more enhanced.
Handy location to the foreshore and very good value. Room clean and efficiently laid out. Really friendly and helpful staff. Quiet despite its location. This is the third time I have booked here and will do so again.
Rooms are a bit on the tiny side and a tad prefab but clean and comfortable so suited to purpose. Centrally located with friendly helpful staff make this an ideal hotel for business or trade types and is recommended.
Five motorcyclists stayed here for the Newcastle Super Motards. When the queen beds are split into twins the room becomes a little too cluttered with all the paraphernalia that must be brought in from the bike. I opted for a separate queen roomb on the second night and slept well. Ensuites are still the modular style and compact but the shower is screened off and the rest of the ensuite is not splattered with water like the old style Formule 1. A big tick to the staff and buffet breakfast.
Don't bother. Plenty of accommodation in same price bracket around, go elsewhere. Agreed to pay $15 a night for parking but there's no spare car parks, go in to ask where we can park to be told just because you paid for parking we can't guarantee a spot WTF!! Obviously we blew up & were then told to just park in a disabled spot for the night. Did not feel comfortable doing this at all! Floor in room was saturated so had to be moved. free wifi' doesn't work. Connected fine but couldn't actually use the internet at all so don't rely on that. For $200 a night this was by far the worst accommodation we've stayed in. Very overpriced for a tiny room, no internet or parking!
Hotel is easy to find and breakfast was great. The pluses end there. Check-in assistant was not very helpful, I ask for a room above ground level, response was your room has been allocated and I can’t change. When asked about public transport options was told,I don’t use public transport so I can’t help you. We booked twin room, they added the most uncomfortable roll away bed which made the room very cramped. Food found left in refrigerator, also room looked tired.
We have a 1 nite stopover from Port Stephens and the hotel is very centrally located. The front office staff was very friendly and we checked in with no problem at all. It is a small hotel after all but it is still clean and i like the toilet cubicle..very cool.. altho it may posed a space problem for someone big in size. The bed was comfortable and equipped with complimentary drinks. We had dinner at the hotel restaurant and its amazing the front office staff double up as service staff too taking food orders. We used our complimentary drink vouchers to go with our meal and it was really good and the food was good too, For a small hotel, I do not expect a big spread of breakfast but it serves its purpose and I am happy with it. The small croissants which came out fresh from the oven was soo good that I have 4 pieces.. Also we meet the Nepalese room cleaners and they were very friendly and courteous.. I enjoyed my stay here and would recommend anyone who needs a great stop over.
Stayed for 2 nights in September 2017. Very clean and comfortable. Very friendly and efficient staff. Breakfast was very good. A $15 fee applies for on-site overnight parking which seems excessive. Overall assessment: good for short stays.
