First room Heat/AC is not working, so I have to pack up and move to another room. I could let that go. Unfortunately the second room has very bad sound insulation. When I told the management, they have denied that. I showed them a voice recording on my phone then with the clear voice from next door. They acknowledged that, but told me it should get better later on, which was getting worse. They finally let me switch room again at close to 11pm with a room suddenly "discovered". The third room smelled of very strong cleaning detergent to a degree to make my head hurt so much. I was too tired to do anything about it at that point. Management did NOT even apologize for any of this. Very disappoint. I will NOT recommend staying at this place. After 3 stays, I will never stay here again!

This hotel came highly recommended but I couldn't be more disappointed. I came into my room, my phone was missing and there was a dirty tissue on the floor of the bathroom. The hotel was not willing to do anything to accommodate me at all. They sent in a rude staff member to change the phone, who removed the phone completely. It was replaced later that night by another phone that was also not working. I couldn't call downstairs at all, to ask for extra pillows or anything else. Not only that, but when I told several managers about my issue, none of them was willing to do anything to help me. I wouldn't recommend this hotel to anyone.

This my third time back in NYC but first and last time at The James Hotel. Compared to the other two hotels I have stayed in this was the poorest experience. There was nothing horribly wrong but nothing outstanding either. There was a very loud, constant, daily noise like the sound of a tornado alarm going off every morning around 8am, that was the nail in the coffin. The staff was just ok, not very friendly but not rude either. Their swimming pool has a capacity of only seven people. Unremarkable stay.

Great view and wonderful room. The location is awesome and makes it easy for moving around NYC.

From Morgan, deservedly awarded best concierge in soho to Erik the doorman the staff could not have been friendlier and more helpful. The room was smaller than I expected but that was my fault as I converted the sqm wrong at booking. David Burke garden and food really recommended. We usually stay in the Gansevoort but as it was fully booked chose the James and we will definitely return!. Shopping in Soho is always a great experience and there are a few excellent restaurants very close to the hotel.

Loved this hotel!! Super convenient for SoHo, and inside the design is really cool and contemporary. Lobby is spectacular, warehouse loft feel, not at all corporatey, instead more like an ultrahip living room. Bedrooms are really unusual too in their design, in a v positive way. I had spectacular views East and South. One of my favorite hotels in NY and I have stayed at many.

The hotel has an amazing location in the heart of Soho/ Tribeca, perfect for walking around. The staff is extremely nice and helpful (probably the best of the hotel). David Burke's restaurants also a must. Very lively areas (terraces, lobby, etc) but not disturbing for guests.

Great location in soho, minutes away from best streets/shops/restaurants. Likely better than most nearby hotels, as it is relatively new, large and clean with a nice slate of amenities. Not spectacular 5-star, but overall good hotel, particularly given the location. Would definitely go back.

The staff and the service at the James was fabulous! We stayed for 6 nights and were greeted by friendly and helpful employees at all times. The restaurant David Burke is wonderful and conveniently located and also available for room service. The beds in the room are among the most comfortable I have ever slept in! Great location, close to shopping and restaurants. The only thing I can say that bothered me was every evening or early morning the smell of baking or cooking food wafed into the room most likely from the vents in the room. It may have just been our room, but that was my only complaint. Every night they have a wine and cheese reception and fresh baked cookies which was very nice.

Great hotel, great location in the midst of Soho shopping district. Great amenities, breakfast, wine and cheese, Wi-Fi, water in room all free Great staff, very helpful Room was a bit small, but comfortable

We stayed at the James for a long weekend and we found the staff to be very helpful, the rooms were comfortable, bed really great and for us who like to stay below Union sqare location could not be better

The James Hotel is a great hotel to stay at. It is so conveniently located to the best restaurants and shopping in Soho. The amenities are the best, not to mention the mini bar and snacks top notch! The staff is so friendly and David's Burke Kitchen is delicious, pricey but worth it! This will be my new go to hotel when staying in Soho! Absolutely loved it!

horrible experience for the cost

This my third time back in NYC but first and last time at The James Hotel. Compared to the other two hotels I have stayed in this was the poorest experience. There was nothing horribly wrong but nothing outstanding either.
