We had the 2 bedroom lockout. Both sections were very spacious and clean. One section had a separate bedroom & TV, & a kitchenette, the other was a large studio with a kitchenette & whirlpool tub with a pullout couch. The hotel was within walking distance to Bourbon St.,Harrahs & numerous restaurants & attractions. There was a workout room, hot tub & small pool, as well as a business center & complimentary laundry. This is the second time we've stayed there & would stay again when visiting the city.
Loved the location. Beware if you travel during carnival season, you won't be able to park at the resort. Parade route block all entries. We had to park about 6 blocks away in a parking garage and carry our luggage to the resort.
Wanted to add another night to my reservation and the person helping me thought she had to cancel my current reservation to do that. So she canceled it and now I am getting a higher rate on the new reservation which was hundreds of dollars more. I was never informed that it would be a higher rate and after spending two days on the phone with customer service they first said they can only give me 10% off the new rate , then after complaining more they said 15% and then after complaining more they said 20% , which is still $100 dollars more than my original reservation!! So I am being punished for there employees mistake!! This is just wrong!! This is not a review of the hotel itself , as I have not even stayed there yet. I could not find another forum to complain publicly.
The staff was AWESOME, especially Carolyn. The property was beautiful. Since we were on a girls trip they made sure our rooms were large enough to party in. We had a 2 bedroom lockoff unit and a 2 bedroom presidential suite. Close to everything so we walked or took the trolley to most places. Also don't miss the crawlfish boil on Wednesdays. Absolutely the best. I can't mention how wonderful the staff was to us. The only disappointment was the pool, very small, but hey we didn't come to swim! Thanks again to Wyndham for an awesome vacation!
Beautiful, ornate wrought iron architecture. Three of us had a 2 BR -- spacious, luxurious, but no stove (we really didn't miss). Small but nice indoor pool, plus spa, sauna and exercise room. Walking distance to many things. Good staff: Bell stand/valet, registration and housekeeping. Not so happy with one concierge "Don't book any tours or make restaurant reservations -- we'll take care of you." Sorry, but I knew what we wanted... special experiences, not cookie cutter marketing partners. Used points for three nights then purchased two more nights through Wyndham with stay at Sheraton and sales presentation here. That was disappointing... mixed messages on time (changed from 9:30 a.m. to 1:15 day of... messed up our day), and did not like talking with sales staff, to put it very mildly. They tried to convince us that we spent $281 on travel per month, and essentially, we could spend it all with Wyndham and get a lot more for it, including non-travel discounts. So many holes in that logic I can't even start. However, they had a nice incentive for attending, and they kept their word on that. So, the property itself is definitely a "5."
The staff was very nice. The concierge was not pushy. They recommended places to eat, entertainment, and even asked if we enjoyed ourselves when they saw us again. We had very nice conversations with the front desk staff. It was as if we were longtime friends. I would definitely return here again.
This hotel was cute and very close to the French Quarter. The hotel could have used some maintenance. The rug in our room was worn, the floor not level and there were unfinished areas that needed some touch up - but then, it is not a luxury hotel. For the most part, the service was very good. However, there is a BIG pitch to attend a breakfast presentation OR take an in room survey. We initially signed up for an in room survey but our plans for that day changed and the concierge was really pissed off that we cancelled. She even said that she "wasted time" on us when we checked in. Other than that, the staff was very helpful.
This is a TIMESHARE which I did not know when I booked a stay via booking.com. Thanks to other posters, I knew NOT to accept an offer to breakfast (which was only a too long sales pitch per the poster) and to UNPLUG the phone because the reviewer stated if you refused the breakfast, they would pursue you via the phone. What I didn't anticipate was that at check-in, the pushy sales person would flatly tell us to "drop your luggage in your room and come back and talk to me." She couched the reason as to learn about their partner tours and restaurants, etc...but I stated that we had visited New Orleans before, had dinner reservations for that night; tour reservations for the next day and didn't need her info. Her reply was to say again "go drop your luggage in your room and come back down to talk to me." We did not. OK, ASIDE from that, the property is fabulous. All other staff were SOOOO nice. The suite was well-appointed and VERY CLEAN. The location is superb. I would totally stay there again. Were it not for the pushy sales, it would be perfect. Now I understand she was just doing her job but isn't there another way to sell timeshares other than to harrass the customer? Were it not for that, my rating would be a well-deserved 5 stars.
When I tried to check in, they said that because my husbands name was on the reservation (along with mine but they didnt have it) he needed to be present. My husband died 19 years ago and I have never had a problem before. So I called RCI and they verbally confirmed that yes, I was on the reservation. But Wyndham still wouldn't accept that. They need RCI to fax them the information. Once this was resolved (about 1 1/2 hours later), they told me to see the person at the concierge desk who would tell me about things to do in New Orleans and about the resort. So she spent 15-20 minutes showing me things and marking them on a map, telling me about the resorts connections with different restaurants and assembling discount coupons, and then told me about a lunch option to tell me more about the resort and opportunities. I said I was not interested and she grabbed the information back, including the maps and said i couldn't have them. I told her that she should have told me this before we started and I spent 20 minutes listening to her, and she said she was only "doing her job". I told her I thought it was misrepresentation to not state it up front, and she again repeated she was only doing her job. I do not know if this is how Wyndham resorts work or if this was specific to this location. But after having flown overnight, I was really annoyed. She would not even give me the map.
Please note - do not use 515 Gravier address - it is on a street with no place to park, a very heavy door - not a good place to enter with luggage! Use the 209 Magazine Street - you come into a covered area - bell hop to assist. Why they even use 514 Gravier is hard to understand! We are Wyndham owners (30 plus years) and as such got a nice upgrade. The 15 minute update turned into "We can do this for you and you need to do this and that!" "Let me call my manager, he will want to help you." Hour has passed and we just left! Staff was helpful and friendly throughout. Hotel is close to restaurants, museums, French Quarter. Easy walking.
