This was our second time staying at Southern Comfort B&B. It is still excellent. Clean and comfortable, along with sumptuous breakfasts, it’s the only place to stay in New Orleans. Located in the Garden District, it is a short 2 block walk to the St. Charles street tram right into the heart of downtown. Cindee is a fantastic host. Knowledgeable about New Orleans, she has plenty of suggestions about restaurants and goings on in town. This is a superior B&B. We can’t wait to return!
My wife and I stayed here for three nights and had one of the most amazing experience we’ve had at any B & B. Cindee was a wonderful host who did whatever it took, to ensure your stay was a pleasant one. Not only is she an excellent cook who served up exquisite breakfast but provided outstanding recommendations on places to eat and must see tourist attractions. Will definitely be back to NOLA and absolutely seek out this gem of a place to stay again.
We stayed in the Bouligny Room, which had a beautiful rich feel to it. The innkeeper accommodated our last-minute arrival change without a hitch. She asked what we were interested in seeing, provided helpful info, & and took it in stride at our lack of interest in the history side of the Garden district. What a wonderful place to just walk the day away! Thanks for an awesome experience!
Our family took over all the rooms of the Southern Comfort Bed & Breakfast, as we were in New Orleans for a baby shower. It was wonderful to have the place to ourselves and Cindee, the proprietor, made us feel like her home was our home. The rooms are all beautifully decorated and you feel the history of the home with the decor. Cindee made herself available to offer advice about things to do in New Orleans and offer restaurant recommendations. Breakfast each morning was a treat! And Cindee went out of her way to accommodate a family member that needed a gluten-free diet. Ready to stay here again on my next trip!
We enjoyed our stay at Southern Comfort and are looking forward to returning on our next trip to New Orleans. We were very comfortable and the location was perfect for us, Cindee helped orient us to transportation, restaurants, and entertainment. She goes out of her way to prepare delicious breakfasts.
Wonderful New Orleans hospitality and delicious breakfast in a charming and comfortable home. The owner is very personable, and offers great advice on local events and restaurants. Highly recommended.
Cindee is a wonderful host and Southern Comfort is a beautiful and comfortable B&B. If you need advice on what to see and do in NOLA, Cindee is always willing to help point you in the right direction. The B&B has three rooms. My wife and I have stayed in two of the three rooms and prefer the Plantation Room which is the largest and has a comfortable queen bed, sofa, and small side room with a twin bed (good for a couple traveling with a young child). The Plantation Room's bathroom has been updated. It does lack the ambiance of a claw footed tub and an antique china pedestal sink, but that is fine for us as we find claw footed tubs more difficult to get in and out of and pedestal sinks lack counter space on which to place our toiletries. On a nice day, the front porch is a pleasant place to sit and read or just have a conversation with someone. The breakfasts are fabulous and home cooked by Cindee. Her repertoire includes soufflés, "etouffees" with grits and eggs, pancakes, baked French toast, and a number of others she has served to us on our occasional trips to NOLA. We have tried a number of different B&Bs in NOLA but find Southern Comfort to be the best and most enjoyable in which to stay.
Southern Comfort is our "go to" bed n breakfast in New Orleans. We stay in the same spacious room, each time. The updated bathroom is spacious enough for an older home and the "side room" could even hold a child. The bed is quite comfortable! Cindee is renowned for her wonderful breakfasts (bread pudding souffle, andouille sausage with bisquits, fluffy pancakes, fruit, muffins, etc) and "concierge" services - she recommends places to see, and places to dine. We have been to NOLA many times and seen a lot of places NOLA has to offer, but she still came up with a new place (the Southern food and Beverage museum!) which was great for a rainy day!
As a New Orleans native, I'm picky about where I stay when I return, and unless you want the whirl of constant activity and noise in the Quarter, Uptown is the place to be. It's an area convenient to all activities and sites, yet a quiet charming neighborhood with locals walking the streets. The B and B itself has lovely high ceiling rooms with large bathrooms. It's very comfortable and allows you to immerse yourself in a former era of history. We were very lucky with the weather and spent most evenings before dinner with a bottle of wine catching up on the secluded leafy patio. The living room would be a nice option as well. Cindee, the owner, was truly born to this role. She has the exact right touch of involvement, and is a wonderful cook. It's like having a friend in the city who instinctively knows what would interest you. She provides extensive information about activities and has copious reading material about the city. If you know the ropes, she doesn't intrude. I would not hesitate to return. It may be pricier that some other options (although I'm not sure about this), but you really do get what you pay for.
Spent 4 lovely days here with friends and were very pleased with our choice of B&B. An easy walk to the streetcar made our location ideal - we could get into town quite easily. Cindee gave us great tips on local restaurants and activities, and her breakfasts were really terrific. The house and garden area were comfortable, clean, and well kept, making our stay delightful! Would definitely return!
