What an awesome experience in Nanjing. The rooms are spacious and comfy with balconies. The toilet has separate bathtub and shower closet. The welcome was pleasant and the staff were nice. I also enjoyed the breakfast as the fact that was able to pre order my dish. Looking forwards
I booked 2 nights via IHG app, but the front desk guy couldn't recognize that I'm an IHG member and no member benifit was offered; then he tried to confirmed with me that I only book for one night, I am sure if he did his job with heart, he could see in the system that I booked for 2 nights. When I went to the room, I found the floor was dirty, one manager came to check and changed another room for me. Based on that experience, I was disappointed about this stay.
Just wondering why a city can be that old and over thousands of years Nanjing is not able to build flat roads between the subway station and the hotel, what did the City do over such long period of time? Overall, the hotel itself did their best to exceed limits and standards, and tried to simply do their best to provide superb rooms, facilities and exceed service standards, however, the room did have a non working iPod station, which got replaced, the female sauna did not work after all, and the make sauna was just not safe to actually use, I saw a guest / with my own eyes / to break one line of wood with his left leg and got trapped in the sauna, he was lucky that he got some assistance to get out of that trap. (Refer to the picture). The attention signs throughout the fitness area and hotel is not even close to actual English and especially in the gym and sauna area, we (foreigners) don't understand a single word what it means. The hotel itself, the location, a few steps away from the well known Confucius temple, is excellent and it is in one of my favorites in China (for now), certainly there will always be some drawbacks everywhere, but this hotel is getting close to be excellent, but very good is all I can give, that's all. Please seek room for improvement in the sauna area, especially let women also have some fun, and do something about your signs in the gym area and sauna, as well as across the hotel. Before printing any attention signs, with the Holiday Inn logo, please at least get an English teacher or native speaker to review, it let your guests feel uncomfortable and let your hotel feel unprofessional. Keep going, one day you will be excellent, it's a target to aim on.
I stayed in this hotel for two nights on a leisure tour of Nanjing. The location of the hotel is perfect, as it is in the downtown area, very close to the Confucius temple precinct where there are numerous shops and eateries, which are open until 10 pm daily. This an area always packed with tourists. As it is only a short walk from the hotel, it was a great experience taking a leisurely stroll in the evening, enjoying the colourful sights with neon lights along the river bank, window shopping, souvenir hunting, as well as snacking on local favourites. The hotel actually adjoins a shopping mall called Aqua City, where there are a number of water fountains. Being right in town, there is no problem getting access to transport, shops, restaurants and tourist destinations. For a short stay, the location is unbeatable. The hotel itself is rather large, with a spacious lobby. However, the building seems a little dated. The room that I stayed in was on the 8th floor, with a city view. The amount of space and the amenities in the room were all standard, with no frills and certainly nothing that can be described as luxury. What I found puzzling was the fridge in the room was completely empty. In a city where summer temperature is in the 35 to 40 degrees range daily, a cold drink or a cold beer in the fridge is something that a hotel guest would expect in any hotel with a fridge. Also, when I tried to make a phone call from my room, I could not get a dialing tone at all. After a few attempts, I decided to go to the front desk and use their phone. I was then told that there is a policy of “locking the phone” unless there is a request from guest to “unlock” the phone in the room. I am not sure why there is such a policy but it certainly causes inconvenience to hotel guests. The hotel is a bit like a resort as there is an indoor pool, a gym, ping pong tables and even a billiard room. I did not use the pool, as I was somewhat overwhelmed by the “heat wave” when I opened the door to the swimming pool. The size of the pool is average; I was expecting a larger pool from the name of the hotel “Aqua City”. The room service was efficient. One day I accidentally switched on the “Do not disturb” sign and the room was not cleaned. When I returned in the afternoon and realized what had happened, I informed the front desk and the room was attended to promptly. All the front desk staff was very helpful with making phone calls, organizing transport and other enquires. This hotel has a perfect location, a team of helpful staff, standard amenities comparable to other hotels in the same class. However, one needs to stock up the fridge with BYO beverages, particularly if you stay in the hotel in summer.
Our family stayed here for 3 nights. Very clean throughout the hotel ( rooms, bathrooms, pool, dining). Comfortable beds and pillows. Incredible buffet breakfast. Would definitely stay here again and recommend. The hotel is connected to a mall, Aqua City. We visited there daily and shopped in BHG grocery on B2 for snacks, water. Best restaurant is Grandmas Home in mall next door. Wish that restaurant had chains in USA.
This was actually my 2nd time staying here. The first time was about 4 or 5 years ago and it didn't leave much of an impression to me. All I could remember was that it was next to a shopping mall. For this trip, I decided to try out the public transport of the city. I was not disappointed. At the left and right of the hotel, there are 2 metro lines passing by, about 8 minutes walk of about 500m. One line brings you directly to Nanjing Station (6 stations away) and the other to Nanjing South Station (also 6 stations away). Most of the time, each trip cost only RMB2 in the city. It was a very cheap and efficient way to travel if you are not carrying a lot of things. It seems to me that the hotel has gone through a renovation. Room was comfortable and well design. Service of the staff was pleasant and efficient. The hotel is connected to a shopping mall with a lot of eateries. It is also located right opposite the Confucius Temple tourist area. Around it, there are more malls and eateries, selling various kinds of food (fast, local, western, other provinces, etc). I also used the gym twice during my 2 nights stay there. It also has a good size swimming poo; Though I was there for business, it is actually a good place to stay when having a vacation/tour of Nanjing, be it individual or family.
This was the best Hotel we have stayed in in China. The staff were amazing, so helpful nothing was to much trouble. The room was very comfortable. Upgraded to a club room and got free buffet dinner and breakfast. A lot of the staff spoke English and were clearly very well trained.
Stayed 12 nights. Large room and nice bathroom. Very good location, very close to two subway lines, and very close to the Nanjing Confucius Temple, and adjacent to the Aqua City Mall. The breakfast was pretty nice, very friendly staff that helped me trying traditional Chinese's breakfast options. Average gym. Nice swimming pool. Overall very nice.
Feels a bit like coming home to this hotel as I have stayed here on average twice a year for the last 3 or 4 years for work duties in Nanjing. The staff are terrific and make a big effort to ensure you have a good stay. Nice touch that many staff remember my name and my preferences, be it special pillows or my coffee for breakfast. Make an effort to engage with the staff and they will make an extra effort to make your stay enjoyable. Everything worked well in the room; TV, internet, fridge and the room was very clean. housekeeping staff are wonderful. One tip for coffee lovers, try the Ristenpatt café bakery over the road from Aqua City. Just new and wonderful coffee and food.
This is restaurant with a typical western menus. The starter was OK but not more Three guys shared a 1 kg Australian stek, it was very good, but I missed the vegetables, we tried to sideorder, but we only got the frenchfries. Good but expensive wine.
