I arrived in Mumbai ready to check into the hotel I had booked through Orbitz a few weeks earlier. They didn't have my booking and refused to refund the money I had paid for my room. Frustrated and exhausted after flying for well over 26 hours, I just wanted sleep. I decided not to trust Orbitz again and opened Expedia. I found Hotel Talon and booked the room without doing much research because again, extremely tired and exhausted at 02:45 in the morning. My driver went with me to Hotel Talon and the lights were out and the front door was locked. We knocked on the glass and a dim light came on and a man crawled out from a pile of blankets on the 'lobby' floor and waved a firearm. We asked if the hotel was open and he told us it is not. Frustrated, my driver drove me to Hotel Ginger Airport and I booked a room there. It was more expensive but at least it actually existed and there was less risk of being shot by what appeared to be a homeless person. I filed a refund request, but have no faith that Expedia will accommodate the request since Orbitz didn't. I now know where to book a room for my return trip in July and won't use either Orbitz or Expedia since they don't verify listings to keep their users safe, and take the money but won't return it when the customer can't get the room they paid for. They burned me and lost a customer.
