Clarion Congress Hotel Ostrava4.5 out of 5.0

You can hardly expect such a high level of finish from the outside - rooms are really modern and comfortable: very spacious, cozy and equipped with everything you need during a business trip (e.g.: there is even an ironing board + iron in the wardrobe). Internet good. Breakfast OK. Parking included. Most of the service staff very friendly and helpful. And all of that at very good price. But you must remember that it's not located in the center (you can get there within 10 minutes by taxi @ 200 Czech crownes) - however there is practically nothing interesting around hotel.
My partner and I were at this hotel during the Ostrava Music Festival(2nd time, we stayed in another place 1st time, but was already fully booked). First of all, the Hotel is shown as 4 star, I can guarantee this is rather 2 starts at best for the rooms, 3 for how professional the employees are. I ll start with the positive points: I wanted to say the integrated wellness area, but as I have been told it s not part of the hotel, so, no positives here. Negatives: We received a normal room, instead of the superior we booked, and since the hotel was overbooked for the festival, we just had to stay in the normal room. We stayed 4 nights, cleaning service came once!!! multiple times we requested the room to be cleaned, nothing, baffling answers from the reception that didnt even know if the cleaning service would pass by or not, unacceptable. We even had to request clean towels once at 0200 in the morning coming back from festival, since no room cleaning had been done again (although pointed out multiple times, sign at door was present all time), they just didnt care. The room was dirty, see pictures, air conditioned is probably a health hazard (I decided to check and the end of our trip) and never been cleaned since they put it up in like 1950? Furniture is old and outworn, one unsafe cable in the bathroom, see picture. I honestly don't see how people can give any good rating to this hotel, not recommanded in the slightest, stay as far away as possible if you care about your health.
Seems that this hotel has his great times in the past. It istn new and all the furniture is old and used. The room was really small and so was the bathroom. Both were clean. The breakfast has a lot of choices but I did t like the taste of the food. For lunch we had pork and potatoes and it was cold and not very tasty. Maybe it wasnt a lucky stay here.
Finally hotel realized importance of good coffee and installed decent espresso machine. Breakfast is only food I had, however coldness of the stuff surprised me. No smile, no kindness, no warm welcome. Just as being surrounded by mindless machines. Only exception has been receptionist who has been very profesional. I do believe that hotels are about people, rooms and good bed. Otherwise rooms are nice and tidy and as usual for this hotel chain very small. I have got superior room however I'm wondering what this superiority defines. From the room I could see only metal roof of adjacent facilities. Thats all I can comment for one short night at the hotel. Night before I have spent at Olomouc NH hotel with same price - value for money is radically different.
Central location. Friendly staff and overall experience was very pleasant. I would recommend this hotel for both business or pleasure with parking inclusive. On site Spa and gym are available for the guests.
Good position for visit Ostravar Arena, bud not for visit city centre. Good restaurant in hotel, good Breakfast - great selection. Beware of restrictions - children up to 150 cm can not visit swimming pool from 15:30.
The reception is a little bit wear, not very confortable. The restaurant is OK, with different options from traditional txec food to asian food. The bar-cafeteria is confortable. There is a place outside for smoking guests with heaters and blankets.
Stayed in Clarion Ostrava for one night. I had great stay. Very comfortable rooms and nice amenities. Food was very good quality ( buffet dinner and BFK) and service was very attentive and professional. For me great value for money....I recomend to go by train from Prague. Nice and easy with lots of comfort.
I enjoyed stay in this hotel... hotel restaurant is very good and tasty (I think the best duck in my life), great breakfast (salmon, various types of pancakes, various types of cheese, ...). This hotel is one of the best choice in Ostrava.
Perfect Congress hotel. Fantastic breakfast. Very good wellness center. Great congress spaces. Relatively far from city center and far from railway stations, 20 minutes by tram. No shopping possibilities around hotel.
