The restraint and bar is expensive for the level of service.

I booked 5 rooms here for a group trip. We all spent 2 full days with no hot water and no wifi. lots of problems with parking. Room cleanliness and comfort were beyond lousy. If your trying to save money, I woull recomend spinging the extra $5 for a real hotel.

old place everithing is old furniture not confortable no parking tv does not work............................

It's ok if you just sleep there, don't think of staying at te hotel and enjoy the room... Tiny room, no hair dryer, no iron, tiny television, absolutely no sound insulation, no space for luggage.

If you're looking for luxury, look elsewhere. If you're simply looking for a place to leave your bags, take a shower, and get a good night's rest, then the Hotel Champ de Mars is perfect! This is a no-frills hotel. The rooms are small. There is no elevator - work-off that good Montreal food by climbing the stairs to your room. The rooms are clean. The staff are friendly. It's perfect for travelers who are more interested in being active outside in the city of Montreal and merely need a place to hang their coat. The hotel has a restaurant but we didn't eat there - opting instead to sample the wide variety of restos throughout Montreal. Positioned close to the old section of Montreal, there is an old-world feel to this French pearl. This was our second time staying at the Hotel Champ de Mars and we will most definitely stay again!

The location of the hotel was perfect, near the historic old montreal. The outside of the hotel was charming and quaint. However, the room was as small as a postage stamp. We could barely walk aroudn the perimeter of the full size bed. The owner bragged about the breakfast quality and value but were disappointed that they did not serve breakfast until after 8 a.m.

My husband and I flew to Montreal for a weekend getaway. After researching the hotels, I chose The Hotel Champ de Mars primarily for the location. After reading the reviews, I wasn't expecting much more than a place to sleep and shower. Wow! We were surprised. This is a quaint hotel. The room was small and the bath was of average size; however, the room was very clean with antique furniture. The level we stayed on was very quiet. The staff was very friendly. We ate breakfast at the hotel which was excellent and a bargain for ten dollars. This is a family business which adds a personal touch for the guests. The hotel is in a great location and walking distance to Old Montreal. I would definitely stay here again. This place is a hidden gem in Old Montreal.

It is so worth the price! I don't stay in the hotel that often, but it's so convenient to go to the old port and Chinatown. I enjoyed my stay very much. The staffs are also very friendly.

If you’re looking for luxury this is not the place. If you need a standard no frills room in a great location then it is a good option. I was overall happy with my experience there. The hotel was inexpensive with very nice people working there. The room was very small with a double bed with older comforters and drapes. The room was too small for a dresser or closet and the TV did not work. The bathroom was surprisingly large in comparison to the size of the room. It was clean but things are much older and not modern chic in any way. For the price and location I was very happy. When I think of an inexpensive 2 star hotel this meets my expectation. The listing mentions “breakfast included” which means they have a restaurant that serves a decent breakfast for about $10.00 (it is not free). I parked on the street near to the hotel without a problem but if you need a parking lot you’ll have to find a paid one a few blocks away.

All I did there was sleep and eat breakfast, yet the service was good, including an earlier than usual breakfast start so I could get my train.

because we arrived late in the evening, we ate at the hotel's restaurant. when we got the bill we paid with US dollars, because we had not had our money changed yet. The owner told us that the Canadian dollar was higher value than the U.S. so we had to pay more. The next day we found this to be false. The hotel is also very noisy, you can hear every movement in the rooms above, the sides and across the hall. It was hard to complain because the staff leaves at 11pm.

location was great, rooms a bit small. Was told [...] that breakfast was included but woman at reception insisted it was not and I ended up having to pay for 3 breakfasts for a quiet life.everything else was fine though, breakfast actually was great.

The hotel location is just perfect. The service is very good and the room is clean but little bir small

Great place to sleep and from which to get around by metro, by bicycle, or on foot. Typical downtown parking situation, nearly $20 per day parking, probably more expensive if in and out. Montréal is a park-it-and-leave-it sort of place. Rooms are tightly subdivided but sufficient for 1 or 2 persons. On-premises restaurant.

The best thing about the hotel of course, was being located in Vieux (Old) Montreal. So you can EASILY walk to various sights to see, including the riverfront and the main square. The staff were very friendly, as this hotel is run by a family. The concierge closes at 11pm however (no 24-hr staff), but if you're already checked in, you'll have a key to the front door if you're late. The rooms/bathrooms are well-maintained, but NO CLOSETS or rails to put hangers in the room. Just a few hooks. Only thing I was disappointed about was the fact that I was led to believe that full breakfast was INCLUDED when I bought the reservation on orbitz. Well, the hotel staff later told me it was NOT because 'oh, they had a "sale" that week on Orbitz, so my price wasn't high enough for breakfast!' Never heard that before. But it's $10 if you want to eat there and it's a good restaurant. No coffee maker in room. The room was comfortable, but small by American standards. The building is over 100 years old, so you may say it's 'quaint'. The huge windows with the sunlight was the best part, even in the bathroom (of course there are curtains). The key is a REAL key, with a large key holder (you get 3 keys - room, hallway and outside door), not a plastic card, so if you visit a govt building for a tour you may 'beep' at the metal detector. Plus, guys, the key holder is a bit LONG so it may be hard to put in your back or chest pocket. Of course we ladies just 'stash' it in our purses, so it wasn't a big deal.

Very small room. Small TV. Very basic The location is good. Close to Old Montreal. Provided with old style metal keys...the reception closes at 11PM
