there were 4 of us, my disabled daughter, myself plus 2 friends to help with driving and caring. The staff could not have been more helpful. The rooms are basic, views are stunning, breakfast was superb. The rooms were clean and plenty of space for a wheelchair
As always the Campanile staff were really helpful and welcoming, this Hotel is in desperate need of the upgrades other hotels have had in the group. The restaurant was really good and the food excellant.
Wouldn't go again even if they paid us........... Diabolical. Dismal, dreary decor ,dated and disgustingly dirty. Needs knocking down. On the bright side We were up and out arriving at our next hotel early ( it's wonderful).
As we could find a room at a decent price on a Tuesday night in Montpellier, we searched nearby and found this hotel. It is located on the same fenced lot as Hôtel Première Classe Sète – Balaruc. We arrived late at night and had a bit of a problem entering the lot and registering. Both hotels have automatic registration through a computerized system we were not familiar with. In addition, the front gate was closed around midnight and we needed a code to open it. When I noticed that hotel Campanile is in the back, everything went well. A very helpful staff member used the computerize machine to register us and give me the key and also gave me a code to open the gate. Another helpful person (a cook at the restaurant) helped me to park the car. Our double room was very small, with a passable bathroom. As a quick stop for the night this hotel is OK. There is a restaurant on site, but we did not use it.
We generally like Campanile. They are good value for money, clean and have excellent beds. This time our main complaint was the lavatory which needed serious attention and the decor looked a little jaded. However the service was good as always and we like the buffet arrangements, both for breakfast and evening meal.
When we arrived, we were given a room two floors up. After pulling my luggage up two flights of stairs and using our key, someone was already in the room. The shower was broke, there was a hole in the bath and no bath mat. The room needs a complete renovation.
We have stayed in other hotels from this group this is definitely the worst.....the room apart from being small felt like something out of the 70s, horrible brown lino on the floor...this hotel needs a revamp and soon!!!!
Yes the hotel was a little tired, but in general it was clean and well maintained. Had the carbonnara. The sauce was a little on the thin side, but quite tasty and we were given a big bowl of cheese to go with it. As a negative and I'm being picky here - I would like to suggest that in ALL hotels, not just this one - that the staff occasionally actually SAT in the (empty!) bath and looked at the condition of the ceilings and under the wash basin. Would I stay there again - certainly!!
This was our first Campanile stay and will almost definitely be our last. The man in reception (in the restaurant) was quite abrupt but efficient. The lady in the morning was just the same. Our room (30) was at the rear of the hotel and a good size. The bed was large and clean and there were coffee making facilities. However, it all needed updating and a damn good clean. There was a scratched and dirty brown lino floor throughout and what were once white walls in the bedroom. The skirting boards were stained and flaking. The towels were clean but grey. The shower curtain was clean but hanging off. In all It was just tired (like we were when we left!). Soundproofing was non existent. We were woken multiple times throughout the night. The man upstairs was wet shaving at 2.10am and we could hear his razor dunking in and out of the sink as he cleaned it. The people above the next room both showered at 4am and someone on the first floor seemed to spend a majority of the night walking backwards and forwards in high heels. The reason we chose Campanile (instead of Hotel BB which we normally use) was that they had an offer saving €10 so you got 2 breakfast for the price of 1. At €5 each, breakfast was quite good value, but if I had paid full price at €10 each I would have been very disappointed. The restaurant was again very old and tired and really needed some tlc. The croissants were nice and the juice was fresh, there was meat, cheese and bread or brown fruit salad but that was it. Certainly not what I would call a full buffet breakfast and certainly not worth €10 each. In future we will stick with Hotel BB. Oh! And dont forget the bird's, there must have been hundreds of starlings roosting in the trees in the garden because the noise they made in the morning was deafening - I know there's nothing you can do about nature and maybe if we had actually slept all night it might have been tolerable, but as we hadn't it wasn't!!!
We stopped for one night at this hotel and as for the rooms, once you have seen one you have seen them all. They are only to sleep, but then there is something to eat and to drink !!!! Now after checking in I ask for a Bacardi Cola. The girl did not understood my French !! Walked to the reception desk which was in the restaurant and the lady there told me they don´t have it. Then the glass of nice red wine for my wife - I took a beer - turned out to be horse piss. I had hoped that France had better wines like this. Yeah, then the breakfast, if there would have been one item less you could not call it a breakfast anymore, but a croissant with coffee. Very poor all in all and for us not a place to stop next trip.
