This probably WAS once a top end resort. But lapses in service, food quality, condition, and management make this a pretty mediocre experience. I would not return. Almost every aspect of the resort was 1/3 great, 1/3 marginal, and 1/3 laughably bad. Our room was probably once a fairly luxurious room. However, many years later, the refrigerator stocked with beer and soda didn't work at all. Literally it was a cabinet. How would a room attendant not notice that all of the drinks are warm when restocking every day? The ice machine, also not working. The furniture looked like it had been dropped down a flight of stairs it was so beaten up, and there were a few small items in disrepair. The spa was also very borderline. Net of resort credits, the massage was still VERY overpriced. The spa area of special saunas and tubs were all COLD because "a pipe was broken". The food ranged from very good to and absolute joke, with almost no predictability at all. Very tough to order when you might get something great or something so bad you have to reorder. The entire pool area ran out of towels at 2pm on a Saturday, for at least an hour until we gave up and left. Like many resorts, some ignorant patrons would stake out sections of chairs with their personal towel clips literally before the sun came up, only to use the chairs for 2 hours in the middle of the day. If this is supposed to be a luxury resort, it needs a lot of work on the mgmt. side.

Overall a very good experience. Very nice room. Good facilities. Nice beach. Attentive staff for drinks on the beach and providing snacks during the day. Overall the restaurants are very good as well

I had the most wonderful experience here at secrets wild orchid. The food and staff were phenomenal. I highly recommend this hotel

The grill gentleman walked no up and down the sidewalk with fresh jerk chicken or pork was a plus! The little snack bar with burgers and nachos was great, as well as activities all day by the pools. Pool water was a bit chilly, but you get used to it quickly. Mixed drinks had plenty of alcohol (unusual for all inclusives), however, tapped Red Stripe was all that is offered. Really? We are beer drinkers and that didn't settle with us. We were offered Miller Light in a can as one of our functions, but Red Stripe is all they will stock your mini bar with. Buffet breakfast was typical, lunches much better! Pasta bar was yummy!!! Dinner venues were fine, not fantastic. We didn't get to the hibachi because they weren't taking reservations before 9:00, and we do not eat that late.

This resort is top quality and the food was excellent.

If the weather had cooperated we would have had more celebrations on the beach. This is a very nice place - clean, well maintained, comfortable. It is handicapped accessible, with lovely walkways and access to all areas and truly wheelchair accessible rooms, which was needed for a member of our party. The food was very good and they had top shelf liquor in the inside bars. There are several nice restaurants and the buffet has a good, changing variety of foods. The staff are friendly and accommodating. Quibbles - if walking distances is an issue, getting to the restaurants and entertainment is hard. They did have golf carts available occasionally in the evening to help. Several of our party had rooms that were too cold and they could not adjust the AC, only maintenance could do this. The concierge desk often didn't seem to know how to get things accomplished, which was frustrating.

The swim out pool was really nice as well as the staff!!! Simone the waitress and Leo the bartender were absolutely amazing!! They had a good variety of food choices and the liquor stock was unbelievable! The only con i have is the cost of the taxi rides! $20-$30 for every trip taken off the resort is a bit ridiculous, but other than that the property is beautiful!

I loved this hotel. Room was gorgeous and I loved our swim out pool. The only thing that bothered me was that our neighbor smoked 4,000 cigarettes a day on his balcony so I had to keep my balcony door closed. Great staff and I loved the girls serving drinks by our pool- they were the best! Everyone was very good to us. Loved it here and hope to go back. Quick ride from the airport too.

Great food selection! Our room did not get cleaned for 2 days. When we called they argued with us saying it was our fault. Took them over an hour to bring towels and toilet paper.

Check in is very slow, and room needed some maintenance (water leaked from shower to toilet room, toilet seat was loose, door to the room was very difficult to open without body slamming it, etc) but the grounds and staff were super! The location is phenomenal!

Staff was amazing from beginning till i left. Great resort, food was yummy. Beach was beautiful, even had peacocks lounging on the beach. Loved everything about it. Cant wait to return!

Long lines to buffet, bad service on the beach, but the location And the hotel are great. Very expensive spa services, massage cost 180$

I splurged on this resort and was not disappointed. Check-in was friendly and more organized than at some other resorts. I enjoyed my first rum punch as I went through the simple check-in process. My room wasn't ready yet so I headed off to enjoy what would become my daily lunch - jerk chicken from the cart with some fresh potato chips and a red stripe. It took about an hour and a half for my room to be ready but I was rewarded with a top floor with a great panoramic view, a cheese plate, and a note to call to order a bottle of champagne. I called to have the bottle delivered but then left it in the ice to go enjoy the beach. The beach was far closer than at the other resorts I've been to, which was great. It was slightly rocky in some places, specially the preferred section, but that didn't bother me much. What I didn't like was how broken up it was, this isn't the resort to enjoy long walks on stretches of beaches, but there was snorkeling right off shore. I hit up a la carte restaurants for dinner every night. Most of the time I could walk right in - I did have to wait a few minutes at the Italian restaurant - but the food was well worth it. The bouillabaisse at the French restraurant was chock full of seafood and topped with a half a lobster tail. I took a risk on the ox tails at the Jamaican restaurant and was well rewarded - a lot of people skip this one but it's worth a trip. For lunch on most days, I hit up the jerk chicken cart on the beach and picke

From the time we checked in we were treated very well. Being as it was our 25th anniversary as well as my wife's birthday i wanted her to feel special. We enjoyed the beach and the food. We especially enjoyed Francios the Bartender at the pool bar. He can make a mean Rum Punch. Special shout out to Toni-Ann with their customer service. She was very helpful before our trip with answeing questions and helping with request. Will definitely consider Wild Orchid again for another trip.

Our experience was great! Loved the staff and the food was good.

I had a marvelous time and will definitely be back.

Everything was great. Do alot of traveling and we were impressed! Exception would be the distance to the venue's. Mystic Mt trip is 1 1/2 hrs by bus..each way. Climbing the falls was a must do. Lots of choices in food choices. Breakfast is buffet at one place only, but great. Went off Resort to Sea Horse Grill for authentic seafood. Short distance from hotel. Took taxi to shopping area but would wait until leaving because airport is loaded with vendors at better prices.

For the money, I consider this resort to be one of the very best. My recent trip was the second time staying at Secrets Wild Orchid. The staff is super friendly, the beaches are beautiful, the rooms are very comfortable (bed, temperature controls, TV options, etc.), there are a ton of free activities each day (snorkeling, kayaking, paddle boarding, live music, trivia, etc.), and lots of food options. The breakfast buffet is amazing with a multitude of choices including personalized omelettes, cereals, tons of fresh fruit and juices, bacon, sausage, local cuisine, etc. We ate at almost every restaurant option and, overall, I would grade the dinner fare a 4 out of 5. It's somewhat hit or miss in terms of excellence. For example, the hibachi is fantastic, the crab cakes are wonderful, the salmon very tasty, and several pasta dishes are excellent at the Italian restaurant. The cuts of meat are not super high grade, though, so if you're expecting an amazing steak or craft burger you'll be disappointed. The great news, however, is that it's all inclusive so if you don't care for something you can always order something else or more of what you love. Again, for the money it's very, very good. The liquor options are both plentiful and solid quality (e.g. Crown Royal, Johnnie Walker, Stoli & Absolut vodkas, several local rums from Appleton Estates, etc.). Plenty of Red Stripe and frozen drink options too. If you like to imbibe this alone will make it worthwhile. Enjoy!!

The food at every restaurant was outstanding. Service couldn't be better. Jerk Chicken cart phenomenal

This resort was excellent. Great location, beautiful beaches, great food. The room was very comfortable and views were excellent. My wife and I would likely return to Wild Orchid when we go back to Jamaica. We were worried that the facilities would be crowded since 2 resorts share all the common areas. It really didn't feel crowded. But we did go in November, which the staff said it was less busy from Sept-Nov due to hurricane season. Oh, of note, if you are considering prefered club, the views from wild orchid prefered club are more of the bay rather than the ocean. Also, Wild Orchid has a better location on the resort property vs Secrets St. James when it comes to access to the restaurants and on site shopping. You can view this on the property map.
