nice hotel with well mannered staff

The overall experience was very nice. Staff was great but the facilities are dated.

beautiful and luxurious

The setting is absolutely beautiful -- lush gardens, very elegantly appointed, a place that has hosted Churchill and Ronald Reagan. Not like the tacky high-rise Sandals resorts with giant "Sandals" signs plastered everywhere, thiis was smaller, more classic and understated. The staff could not be more friendly and accommodating. The food was very good, especially grilled local fish like grouper, but I would not call it 5-star. Lovely pool, but not big enough for swimming laps, and small sandy beaches that felt well protected and secluded. Afternoon tea on the porch was delightful. This is a beautiful and luxurius retreat for those who want to relax in a gorgeous setting. A little on the quiet side -- not for those who who want to party till they drop -- but this i exactly what I wanted..

beautiful beach/pricy food

This is a lovely hotel and despite the fact that it poured rain for 48 straight hours, we found our stay relaxing. The grounds and the beach are beautiful. We found the new "butler" system annoying -- constantly calling and knocking on our door to assist us and when we requested a dinner reservation, they failed to make it. Too many interruptions. Food is outrageously expensive. Breakfast is $40 per person. Dinner is $75 minimum per person. Food is average and service is poor. Also, carefully examine your bill - we found dinners, etc. added to our bill which were not ours. We much prefer St. Barts and Grenada.

could not be better!

Great hotel with picture perfect views. The food was beyond delicious, first class spa, wonderful choices for an all-inclusive. Would go back in a heartbeat,

old world luxury

This was a relaxing romantic hotel for couples (no one under 18 allowed). The staff go over and beyond to accomodate you. There are only 75 rooms so the staff get to know you personally. On the beach, they bring you Mangoas, Fresh fruit, cucumbers for your eyes, and a water bottle spritzer to cool you down. With the Royal Plan (all inclusive upgrade), you get a free sunset cruise on a 60' Catamaran, free tennis lessons by their tennis pro. They don't advertise these extra perks, we only found out by other guests. Also, they have English tea at 4pm and they have a free floral arrangement class to learn about all their exotic plants. My husband liked the steam and sauna room (complimentary as well). I went to the spa for facial and massage (not the fanciest spa but the Jamaican women make it well worth to attend). This resort is truly for romantic couples needing rest and relaxation. There is little nightlife so if you are looking for that you have to go offsite. We stayed 4 nights/ 5 days and it was perfect for us. The pool area is a little small so most guests go down by the beach cabanas. From Montego Bay (Sangster Airport), it is a 1 hour 30 minute drive. But they shuttle you in a mini van or bus with a cooler of drinks. When we departed at 11am, we asked if they could box some lunches for us on the way to the airport. Of course, they made us club sandwiches, drinks, and chips and salsa. This hotel is all about service for their guests. Outstanding. We can't wait to return.

awesome romantic hideaway

Awesome food and service. The hotel was spotless. The beach was beautiful. The staff was attentive to every detail. We stayed at the resort for most of the time. The only drawback was that the house wine choice was absolutely awful for a resort of this caliber. Also, there was a constant unexplained burning smell.
