Stayed overnight with a colleague on the Friday and then ran a Saturday training workshop in the Metropole's Garden Room 2. Made fabulously welcome, nothing was too much trouble, bar friendly and busy and restaurant excellent food, wine and value. Bedrooms were huge and very comfortable with large bathrooms and the joy of bath and shower. (Bath was the most sparkling clean I've ever seen in a hotel!!) Many thanks to the staff who assisted with our training gear and were so friendly.
One of the best hotels my wife and I have stayed in for a very long time. Hotel spotless throughout food to dream about rooms well furnished and quiet ensuring a good nights sleep. Well located. Staff very friendly nothing seemed to much trouble and they seemed to enjoy there work always smiling. When next in this area of Wales will certainly stay here again. A big thank you to all at the Metropole for giving us one of the best holidays we have had in years.
Professional photographs oversell this hotel a little. Faded grandeur is more accurate although for some the quaint decor, creaky floorboards and rickety lifts will add to the charm. Our room was definitely due an overhaul. Busy patterned wallpaper and curtains, cream coloured woodwork and doors and old wooden furniture in what was actually quite a small room. The bathroom by contrast was recently renovated with modern fittings and clean sand coloured tiles. It was all clean and tidy though and the reception staff were friendly and helpful. The pool and spa area is decent. The highlight was probably the meal we had in the evening. This was very good and the service excellent.
My mother' ambition, when I was a child, was to stay in this hotel, which in those days was seen as posh. Sadly, like an ageing relative, it is declining, and cosmetic touches cannot disguise age. It is a rambling warren of a hotel, with odd corners, half-flights of stairs, tired carpets and chipped skirting boards. The room facilities are fine: but it is impossible to enter the bathroom without triggering an automatic light - which is antisocial and unfair to sleeping partners at night. Our room was very small, but rooms vary wildly. The door to and from the external fire escape was not well-secured - no problem for anyone to enter, if so minded. The multi-course gourmet dinner, mainstay of their leisure offers, was competently executed, but not very imaginative. Service was adequate but nothing more. The breakfast buffet is extensive but not enough staff to look after coffee, clearing of plates etc. Those present worked extremely hard, but simply couldn't keep up. We didn't meet a single Welsh member of staff - and wondered why there didn't appear to be any. If you have mobility difficulties, do make it clear when booking, as access to many of the rooms could be difficult for you. Excellent location in town centre, with large car park at rear.
We wanted to have lunch with friends (and our dog) in Llandidrod Wells. We drew a blank until, unexpectedly, we were told we could order from the bare menu and take lunch in the lounge. Very pleasant service, good food and a lovely relaxed atmosphere. Thnaks for making what had been a difficult day into a pleasnat one
Wife and l stayed here 28/5--1/6/17as part of coach party and was not disapointed The food overall was excellent we had no reason to leave any on our plates. Staff at reception were excellent and so to were the restaurant staff ,very attentive, polite and friendly, well done to you all. Our room was very clean spacious and bed very comfortable. The shower/toilet room was Iike new although lacking a larger shelf to accommodate toiletries. The whole hotel was spotlessly clean with new carpets being fitted in certain area's.The only fault we found was it was very warm in our ,room which was at the rear of hotel and there wasn't any air coming in from outside so found it difficult to get to sleep. The only thing lacking we found was air conditioning but apart from that we found the hotel excellent value and service , well worth a second visit , A big thank you to all staff
This was our first break since my husband became disabled. I cannot stress enough how much the hotel and its staff catered for us. After booking on booking.com and asking for room preferences, the hotel phoned me to clarify our requirements to ensure they provided what was required, even going the extra mile and reserved a disabled parking space for us and advised which lifts would suit us best. Room clean and well appointed, bar comfortable, prices good. Ate in the hotel twice and cannot fault it. Highly recommend
The Metropole was the venue for my fathers 70th birthday. We all wanted no fuss just Sunday lunch and enjoy a family day out. The Hotels strength is in my opinion it's consistency time and time again they deliver, so well done to you all. My father enjoyed his afternoon with great food , excellent service from a restaurant team that helped us all have a memorable day.
Fine old hotel in faded Victorian resort set in beautiful countryside. Highlight of our February break was the outstanding taster menu and service. Excellent value for dinner, bed and breakfast...£99.
Stayed at the weekend with my partner and my daughter. Very enjoyable stay. We stayed in the superior room which was very spacious and the rooms were very clean. The spa facilities at the Hotel are great and enjoyed by all. We will definitely visit again.
