The first time we ascended the sweeping staircase, I could hear the swish of satin gowns and envision my husband in a top hat and tails. We had just stepped back a century into gracious elegance. The majesty of the inn continued throughout the mansion. Here was a place that had not suffered under neglect. It was carefully preserved. We felt comfortable and refreshed in every room.
Overall this place was an 11 out of 10! The food was fabulous. The owner Tomi was very helpful and always around if we needed or wanted anything. The bartender and waitress was very sweet and helpful with all our questions during dinner and while drinking. The room was very clean and the bed was very comfortable. The tub was spacious and a nice place to spend time with a good book and a glass of wine.
Wonderful stay and delicious gourmet dinner! The staff was delightful!the room was neat and clean and we enjoyed the quiet area in the Inn. Whitetail ski resort and golf was very close by for those that enjoy those sports!
This bed-and-breakfast/inn is a lovely destination. I had both dinner and breakfast at the inn, and the food was very good and the service was excellent. The staff are very interested in making sure you are welcome and comfortable. I stayed in the carriage house because I wanted to make sure I had television. It was very roomy and comfortable & the air conditioning was running when I checked in, so it was very comfortable on a HOT weekend. I hope they do well & thrive this is a cute little town, too. The gardens could use some attention/cleaning for such a grand home, As I am sure photos for weddings etc. are very important from the outside. I would recommend you visit, (some wineries in area, too!)
New owners took over in 2018 and are doing a swell job. Inn is clean, bed comfortable, linens thick. Be aware, this is an old mansion so a/c is a noisy window unit and bathroom is a bit cramped. Only real disappointment was a wedding being hosted the night we were there so dining room was closed. Breakfast was tasty but on the light side. (Probably could have asked for more) Guests have the living room, porch, and pretty grounds to roam.
We stayed one night after hiking in the Catoctin Mountain Park. We stayed in the Loft Room with our two sons. The main room was spacious, the beds comfortable and we enjoyed the interesting aspects of it being a historic home (closet was very different, but so interesting). Our boys slept in the loft and said the beds were very comfortable. Our youngest wanted to take the mattress home! They loved the fact they were sleeping "on top of the front door". Their room felt like an attic room but my 6'2", 15 year old could stand up in the center and it didn't bother him to be up there. The shower is small but we were happy to have one in our room and the bathroom was clean. We had no noise issues in our room. We all had an uninterupted good night's sleep. The employees were all nice and helpful. It was obvious they work hard to make it a good experience. We ate dinner at Stoners on the square in town and enjoyed the meal (hamburgers, fish sandwich and prime rib). Would love to come back to experience dinner at the Inn. I personally love that the owners are keeping a beautiful old mansion functioning. You can see that there are some areas they still plan to work on but it is a beautiful house. Our family loved hanging out in the basement. I worked on a puzzle while the boys played chess, pool and watched a baseball game. It was a nice evening.
I stayed at the Mercersburg Inn for a month. The owner, Tomi, was a kind and generous host, making my long stay here so pleasant, I truly felt at home. She showed me around the beautiful historic hotel, and further explained the history and story behind the inn. My room was spacious and comfortable, I have no complaints. The highlight of my stay here in the Mercersburg Inn is their peaceful environment and I had a relaxing time away from the buzz of the city. At night, there were fireflies wandering around the compound as well! Absolutely beautiful. Although the mansion is slightly further away from town, I still had a lovely time exploring the quiet side of Mercersburg. I would definitely stay at Mercersburg Inn again if I ever come back for a second visit. Thank you for having me for such a long time, I had a wonderful stay at your mansion.
Mercersburg Inn is a lovely place! The manor house itself is beautiful, inside with lovely gardens outside. The pics on the website make it look like its more remote than it actually is, although being on a street corner wasn't a problem. The room was clean and beautiful, and the bathtub was a real treat! The food prepared by Chef Dan was amazing!! We enjoyed our dinners there two nights in a row. I have to say the breakfast was very dissapointing. Nothing special for such a wonderful B&B. They almost had it perfect except for that.
This has been our second visit this year to this beautiful Mansion, if you want a quiet retreat with the beauty of a magnificent mansion this would be for you. Tomi always meets you at the door with a big smile which makes you feel welcome the minute you enter the mansion. Staff is more than willing to make your visit fantastic. Breakfast .....what bed and breakfast would give you such a variety to pick from ...eggs, waffles, french toast, quiche plus a whole lot more. One of our favorite spots and would highly recommend it. Can’t wait until we can return again.....
My wife and I stayed at the Inn from July 1 to 4. The house had the ambiance of luxury that been well kept. The room was well furnished as were the common areas. We arrived late on our first night, however, entry instructions were emailed and a gift bag was waiting for us. For the remainder of our stay, we felt a real sense of solitude. More than we had hoped when staying in a B&B. The staff member (possibly) owner was courteous but rarely seen. There was never an introduction nor a conversation. This is not necessarily a negative but was less than we had expected. Maybe the best way to describe our stay is a hotel style in a wonderful house. Overall a pleasant stay at the Inn and in Mecersburg.
