This hotel is not our usual choice - our last holidays have been in Dubai, Manhatten and Barbados at Fairmont, Ritz Carlton and Jumeirah properties. However we wanted a short family break flying from our local airport at a reasonable cost - which is exactly what we got. Three nights here for 4 people AI with flights cost less than 2 nights bed and breakfast at any of the above properties without flights- so lets put the poor reviews into perspective. You get what you pay for and this hotel in spotlessly clean ,with a/c and refurbished rooms next to the most delightful cove. Then you make your choices - Food - fresh and local or fried and British We chose to eat fresh fruit, pastries, cheese and have coffee for breakfast- but you can choose a poorly cooked English breakfast, sugery cereals and packet cappucino too. Dinner for us was fresh fish, prawns, salad, and the traditional tapas such as russian salad offered in Spain. But you could also have chips, pizza and burgers to your hearts content. Pool - turn left or right Turn right and you need to go down before 8am, stand in your space and do the sunbed run! The Italian and Spanish tourists found this hilarious. Turn left and find a lovely spot under pine trees and with views of the cove at any time of the day. Simply stunning. Drinks - go local We drank Mahon beer, local Cava and G and T's - all great and served with a smile. We gave the cocktails a miss as they are from a machine and the wine at dinner was undrinkable. Rooms They are refurbished with a great shower and excellent and quiet air con. Our balcony was enormous, the shower was powerful, wifi strong and TV good. Staff Polite and helpful at all times - what goes around comes around.- treat them with politeness and they do the same. Entertainment Not for us - we took a G and T and headed to sit and watch the sunset and then enjoy the view form our balcony. We hired a car and didnt take the transfer coach - with under 45 mins journey time from airport to hotel. We drove each day to the most beautiful beaches to rival the Caribbean -Cala Galdana, Cala Turqueta and Cala Marcella to name just three. As I said this is not our usual type of holiday and after reading reviews on here I had nearly cancelled - so glad I didnt. The only reason I wouldn't return is because Cala Forcat is sad and shows the signs of recession. But then you have Cuitadella nearby - beautiful. All in all - value for money - ignore the haters and don't expect 5 star because 5 star costs a hell of a lot more!
I am currently staying at this hotel. Pros - The hotel is beautiful. Everything is spotless and really well done. The staff work so hard. The waiters are so friendly. The pool is amazing, lovely and cool which is perfect in hot weather. Our room is lovely and spacious, comfortable beds, clean, nice decor. We love the freebies in the bathroom! The setting is nice, go down to the coves and snorkels - bring snorkels and underwater cameras! The salad bar is lovely. Lots of fresh items to choose from. Cons - The hot food.... is awful. It is such a shame. If the quality of the hot food improved, I could see the hotel being 5 star in no time. On our first night I had pasta, added tomato sauce and cheese... It was so bland. No taste at all. I tried some meat which I couldn't chew through. The second night I had lasagne.... It was mush. It was like eating blended baby food. It had no flavour at all. I tried a few other items too - the pizza was rock hard with no toppings, breadrolls rock hard, potatoes were rock hard... I've actually been sick both nights after eating (partly morning sickness/partly the food). I'm now living off fruit for my breakfast and lunch, then eating out in the evenings - try the Pizzeria Roma, stunning food! Having paid over £2000 for a week all inclusive, then having to fork out for evening meals elsewhere, we are very disappointed.
We have just returned from a 10 day all inclusive stay at this hotel. To be honest, I was concerned about some of the previous comments regarding the food. However, we found the food to be very good, with an excellent choice at all meal times. Although at times it's not exactly a restaurant experience due to the volume of people. The staff do their best but there can be a delay in clearing tables. My advice would be to attend breakfast and lunch as early as possible, but leave dinner until later. Our check in was great as we were allocated 2 interconnecting twins with sea views. The rooms are very modern and bright, with a nice modern en-suite shower room. The bars are well staffed, hardly any queues. The adult only bar was nearly empty of patrons. Swimming pool areas are fantastic, but you will have to be down by 8 to guarantee your spot!! Beach - small but worth a walk down. Only negative - Smokers at the pool and the terrace bar Overall we had a fantastic holiday and we would return.
This was our second visit , last year we were disapointed with our room as it was overlooking the carpark , this time we had a front sea view which was stunning . ROOMS clean , modern, lovely bathrooms and fantastic shower , toiletries provided which was a nice touch FOOD Dont really understand why people have moaned about the food , huge choice of meat , fish or pastas . Lovely salad and fruit bar . We enjoyed every meal LOCATION Stunning , beautiful cove next to the hotel , snorkelling gear a must , little town with some shops and activities for kids . Bus stops outside the hotel for visiting further afield . One thing we did find was the Management were always visible and taking an intrest in the holidaymakers , this for us proved its a well run hotel , staff worked very hard and it was lovely to be greeted with such warmth from the lovely lady at the pool bar . We have decided to try another globales hotel next year and cant wait to book !! GLOBALES ALMIRANTE FARRAGUT Thank you for a wonderful week !!
currently staying here and impressed by everything (apart from sunbed wars) rooms - quite business like in appearance but well equipped and a shower so powerful I'm using it on half power! nice sea view and big balcony food - have read a lot of mixed reviews but so far it's been excellent. a lot of choice, lovely salads, plenty of sweet options and a good breakfast. no complaints about the food far from it sun beds - unfortunately it is a case of if you can't beat them join them. the beds are locked until 8.30 and if you haven't got down there and taken a bed by 9 you will struggle. the first day I arrived about 1 and there were no beds. you just have to hope someone moves. the strange thing is it's an isolated hotel with no beach so I have no idea where people disappear to after they have taken a sunbed. I would encourage the hotel to remove towels after an hour as it doesn't take any longer to eat lunch etc entertainment - haven't seen any as I've used the adult bar which is quiet but the local beer is decent and spirits strong as you would expect overall I already feel it's good value and would certainly recommend it to anyone wanting a holiday where you don't want to do much apart from relax
We stayed for 10 days at this hotel, first impressions were very pleasing, very smooth transfer from the airport which took a good 45 mins. Our rooms weren't ready when we arrived at lunchtime so we put our cases in a locked room and went to have some lunch and a explore until our rooms were ready about 2 hours later. The rooms are great and the air con and ceiling fan kept us very cool!! The staff were very friendly and helpful and continued to be during our stay. The food was plentiful and good choices, we never went hungry!! There are a good selection of shops about a good 5 min walk from the hotel which sells daily papers etc. Water is available on tap at the hotel but if you want a bottle you can buy that over the bar. The evening meal started at 7.30 and there was usually a lot of people waiting at the dining room doors for opening time!!!!! The biggest let down for me at the hotel for me was the evening entertainment, it was the worst iv ever seen in 17 years of going on package holidays. It was the hotel entertainment team and not Thomson, which obviously made the difference! It started at 9:00 with children's disco, they need to ditch the big screen on the stage which the children stood in front of and copied and one person from the team that actually came and danced with them but disappeared after about 10 mins and the screen came on again for the children to copy from. They really need a massive rethink for next season because it really lets the hotel down. One evening the adults lined up for their bingo tickets and took up a good part of the dance floor while the children's disco was on, not great planning. It was a little disappointing that it was inside as there was no outdoor stage, but you could hear it perfectly out on the terrace, where the smokers sat, so if you have little ones as I did we had to sit a good distance away so she didn't breathe in the smoke.
I try to do honest reviews and am happy if you email me for any help if you are due to holiday at this hotel. The transfer time is 1hr to 1hr30mins depending on whether or not you use a transfer bus or hire a car. The hotel has amazing views as it is on the edge of a cliff and is 5 minutes from the nearest mini beach. Bring your snorkels and go swimming in the cove. You never get tired of the view. Rooms: Lovely clean updated room with power shower (but no bath). I personally would chose a 4th floor room facing the pool and sea. Beds made and towels changed daily if required. After a week I did ask which days the rooms were cleaned and was told daily but in 10 days not one squirt of bleach went down the loo! Lovely touch was the free beach bag which is yours to keep. Pool: 1 large pool, one smaller pool and a childrens pool with a small slide. Outside area always very clean and good solid sunbeds. At night the beds are packed up and chained away - this is so the area can be properly cleaned and to prevent any beds blowing into the sea! Unfortunately you need to claim your bed at 8.30am or you may end up being unable to get your sunbeds together. Plenty of choice for sunbeds though - around the pool, on stepped areas around the cove, shade or non shade etc. Entertainment: There is entertainment for every age group although we only participated in the adult games which as a family we found fun to do and the staff were really lovely - mini golf, archery, table-tennis, bowls, darts, shooting, water polo, water aerobics, "cocktail" game, shuffle board. Games up until 1pm and the one afternoon game at 4.30pm. The evening entertainment started at 9pm for children and went onto the adults at about 9.30pm. Paid games are pool, air hockey, and mini-golf (£2.50 per club and ball and can be used between as many people as you like). Restaurant: Breakfast 7.30am - 10am - excellent and even includes black pudding (never seen this outside of the UK before!). Lunch 1.30pm - 3.00pm. Evening meal 7.30pm - 10pm. Snacks 10.30pm - midnight. The food was lovely with a lot of choice. However the staff were at times quite aggressive that you sit at an appropriate table with the correct seating numbers - I get that you need to keep a 6 seater table for 6 people rather than 2 but when it is quiet it really doesn't matter and there are polite ways of advising guests about this - rudeness is never an option. Perhaps it would be easier for staff to greet and seat guests and remove this problem. Also the late night snacks were badly done - there was always a closed sign on the restaurant and many guests were unsure whether or not they were allowed in - choice was poor at this time and you were made to feel uncomfortable by staff who advised you could only sit at a 2 seater table regardless of numbers and carried on hoovering around you! Perhaps to remove this problem this late snack could be moved to the outside bar area on the ground floor. You can also gets drinks from a pool side bar (the friendliest bar with the loveliest bar staff - thank you) and an outside bar which also does a late breakfast and snacks throughout the day until 6pm. Huge choice of drinks but it would be better if you could get your own fizzy drinks rather than having to queue up continually. Ice lollies and ice cream tubs available throughout the day - excellent for children (and husbands!). Unfortunately once outside guests can smoke anywhere. It would be a nice touch if the outside bar area was divided into smoking and non smoking. Staff: Reception team were excellent and helped with any problem quickly and efficiently as did the service team who fixed our air conditioning within 2 hours of our phone call. Star staff member was Wilkin who never failed to have a smile on his face whether he be in the bar or the restaurant - thank you very much. This hotel became my first choice because of the free Wifi and free room air conditioning which to my family are important. I was really pleased as the Wifi was the best we have ever had in a hotel which meant for a very relaxed holiday if you are a parent of an anti social teenager and the rooms could be kept permanently cool. There is a charge for the safe - these are in every room and should free as it costs nothing to the hotel and gives peace of mind to the guest. The nearest shops are a 5 minute walk and has maybe a dozen shops. The nearest town is Ciutedella which is 20 minutes bus journey from outside the hotel (every half hour) and costs 1.65 euros one way for anyone over 4. There is a VERY small market on Friday mornings and also in the evenings from 8pm. It has a lovely port and boat trips are daily. Overall I would definitely recommend this hotel for any family combination - there is something for everyone.
Just returned from a lovely weeks holiday the hotel is Beautiful and so clean and the sea view from floor 3 are amazing to wake up to we neuer had any trouble getting a sunbed and i think its a good idea to lock them up til 8.30am resturant and pool bar food was lovely so much choice we couldnt fault the food The cove beside the hotel is beautiful and the sunset from the cliff top is amazing we took the bus to Cuitadella 1.65 euro once at night which was beautiful and so lively by the harbour and lots of craft market stalls and we visited on the friday morning for the main market All staff work really hard and are so helpful we will be returning soon Thank You for a very enjoyable holiday
A big thank you to all the staff at the Almirante Farragut for yet another fantastic holiday they all go out of there way to make our stay enjoyable. Looking forward to my next holiday see you all soon
Just returned from our 1 week holiday last night, this hotel is brilliant. Huge selection of food, all the staff (((work sooooo hard))) We loved our room/bathroom, and unusually we had a comfortable double bed :) If you want to be picky you will always be able to find fault, but we were so impressed with this holiday. It was my husbands birthday while we were there, we were surprised he got a lovely birthday cake and bottle of bubbly after dinner. We did always get a sun bed but it was difficult. Thank you to all the fabulous staff x
