The swimming pool has been shut down since before Christmas, the Ice machines were out of service. Room service missed a day. Way overpriced.
Had a business trip take me near by and stayed at the Howard Johnson Melville for the first time. Clean rooms, quiet, attentive front desk staff. Will be staying here the next time. The owner even ensured I had a good stay! Will be back again I'm sure.
I am travelling a lot and i am highly recommended this hotel to stay. Staff was fantastic and extremely helpful!! Room was quiet clean and renovated. Thanks again for a great experience away from home.
I came to visit with my family and the stay was great. Room attendant was very helpful and very friendly. I would definitely go back and stay if we plan to visit Melville again. Value for your money is what it is with the room and comfortable bed and quiet place.
The place is old, run down and I was wrong to book there. My tub did not drain on Day 2. The remote for the fuzzy TV did not work. The door know fell off when we left. I would be surprised if more than $10 has been spent to fix this place up. Ever! The pool was out of order with no time of it being fixed. LOL, like they would pay to fix it! Keys for the door, were real metal keys. The eating area floors look like they were installed by a 4 year old (no offense to any 4 yr olds). The "beer garden" built at the back of the hotel looks ridiculous. The paved parking lot was muddy. I am shocked that Howard Johnson or Wyndam associate their names with this property. I am pretty sure this was an abandoned building that was re-opened and nothing has been done to it since.
This hotel doesn't have night staff on duty so there was no assistance with a very noisy room. There were loud bangs occurring every 20-40 minutes throughout the entire night.
Checked in here to watch the Ladies Viterra Provincial Finals. The staff are very cordial and friendly. Turns out we knew the owner Jay who went over the top to make our stay a great one. He even provided us with a bottle of wine! . The rooms were clean and the beds just fine. We enjoyed ourselves which was evident from the recycle we left behind. I would gladly stay here again.
I stayed at the Melville Howard Johnson last night. It was good value for money. Rooms were basic but very clean. Comfortable beds. Breakfast was suitable - only problem was the attendant let supplies room down and took awhile to restock. Other than that quite satisfied with my experience. Would certainly stay again.
I've stayed at this location multiple times for work and I would say it's definitely average. There is lots of parking as there are lots of rail employees that stay at this hotel and get picked up by cabs and it may also not be that busy. I've noticed at check in that it's usually someone in training as they seem to change staff quite often. However that being said, they are always very friendly and offer great recommendations for dining in the area. The rooms are very basic however they've been upgraded recently and they are clean. Definitely not modern in any form of the word however the big thing is that I've never walked in and had an issue with the cleanliness. If you're on the second floor, you're in the quiet zone as the employees from the rail work off hours and it's awesome if you're traveling for work. Otherwise on the first floor I haven't had any issue with noise. Beds are comfortable, TV selection is great and the internet is decent as sometimes I find it to be slow. The hotel itself offers very little for amenities as there is no gym, the pool is closed indefinitely, the ice machine is broken and there is no intention of fixing it. The breakfast is absolutely dismal and I wouldn't even recommend taking a look around the corner in the closed restaurant to see what's there. Tim Horton's is the next parking lot over and so is a grocery store if you're looking for something to eat. Basically this hotel is great for sleeping and work if you can deal with a slower internet at times. I'll definitely stay here again as I have to for work but I wouldn't recommend making this a destination unless you have to.
We were in Melville for a medical appointment and stayed at the Howard Johnson in Melville. The hotel from the outside looks dated but it wasn't. They had done complete renos to the inside and to all the rooms. The room we had was a Queen suite Room 211 and it was very nice. It had a very comfortable queen bed, couch, 2 very comfy big chairs along with a table with 4 chairs, microwave, fridge, and a coffee pot.Everything was much nicer than I had expected to see it from the outside. The hot breakfast the next morning was very nice also. I would definitely stay at this hotel again when we are in town and I hear they have a Jacuzzi Suite also...but it was already booked for the night we stayed. But the next time in town for an overnight...that is what we are booking! It is also across the road from a small strip mall and very close to many fast food places and even a Pizza restaurant.
