No pool, no restaurant, breakfast is questionable, old beds, but the room we stayed in was clean.
we were not happy with the credit card stuff was going on one minit it was pay the next it wasn't get stuff your in order
If was only hotel in Melville would be ok but that is not the case. Advertised to be newly renovated but seems to be just quick and easy fixes. Hot continental breakfast was terrible
I've stayed at this motel several times over the past years. Few changes other than the name. The worn carpets are still there. The formerly good restaurant has been replaced by a complimentary hot breakfast for guests. Nice, except the food is tasteless and cold; coffee is weak and lukewarm. However the coffee packets provided in the guest rooms is good. Our room was clean and comfortable. We appreciated having a microwave, fridge, and dining table. The motel is within easy walking distance of a grocery store and pizza place. We also appreciated being able to open a window to fresh SK air! The staff is friendly and obliging -- if you can find them! This is a decent motel, but leave your big-city expectations at home!
Unusual that on a long weekend the hotel was not busy. Staff really good. On arrival bathroom counter not cleaned properly. Hotel has been renovated. However the bathtub faucet was very difficult to set and the key for the door was more than difficult. The front door was locked at 10:00 PM. Was not advised on checking in. Was able to phone and thus the other key.
The Howard Johnson in Melville is an older hotel with newly renovated rooms. The inside of the hotel and the rooms were clean and comfortable. The girl at the front counter was very pleasant and even let us check in early as we were to be gone all day in a golf tournament. Over all I would recommend this hotel.
Extremely overpriced.. room was not renovated and looked nothing like the pictures online. The light on nightstand did not work it was not a burnt out light it just flickered and the tv had to be turned on for a min of 10 minutes before the sound would work.
I would have to say this is one of the worse customer service hotels I have ever been to and I am not a hard person to please. If you are needing ice and are leaving early in the morning or coming in late at night you can not get ice. This hotel is run down as probably read the pool and hot tub are shut down and is an eye sore when you look out the window but that really didn't bother us as we didn't spend much time in the hotel cause we were there for a ball tournament. The staff is never at the front desk, I wanted to cancel my third night there and the first night I came in around 10 at night and wanted to cancel my room for the next night and no one at the front desk no one in sight at the hotel. So I went early in the morning before I left for the ball game, same thing no staff around. So I went back in at 1130am after the game to cancel the room and I was told that I had to cancel before 11am. So I ended up having to pay another night, and that didn't make me a very happy camper. On top of that my room never got cleaned until I went and complained the last day when someone was finally at the front desk. Think twice before booking this hotel.
The hotel is very dated. They are not open 24 hours and some nights they are already closed at 10pm likely because of a lack of people staying there. Of the three times I stayed there, twice there were knly 1 or 2 rooms in the entire hotel occupied. The early closure isn't conducive to my travel needs. The ice machines and pool don't work and haven't worked in some time. When the sign in the hotel says no expected date of reopening, it's probably not happening anytime soon. You can get ice but the front desk has to go to the bar to get it. The positive was the breakfast which is decent for a free breakfast. I stopped staying at this hotel in June when they increased their prices 25% and found a hotel just as comfortable, without the free breakfast, but $52/night cheaper in the Melville Comfort Inn.
The swimming pool has been shut down since before Christmas, the Ice machines were out of service. Room service missed a day. Way overpriced.
