I would have to say this is one of the worse customer service hotels I have ever been to and I am not a hard person to please. If you are needing ice and are leaving early in the morning or coming in late at night you can not get ice. This hotel is run down as probably read the pool and hot tub are shut down and is an eye sore when you look out the window but that really didn't bother us as we didn't spend much time in the hotel cause we were there for a ball tournament. The staff is never at the front desk, I wanted to cancel my third night there and the first night I came in around 10 at night and wanted to cancel my room for the next night and no one at the front desk no one in sight at the hotel. So I went early in the morning before I left for the ball game, same thing no staff around. So I went back in at 1130am after the game to cancel the room and I was told that I had to cancel before 11am. So I ended up having to pay another night, and that didn't make me a very happy camper. On top of that my room never got cleaned until I went and complained the last day when someone was finally at the front desk. Think twice before booking this hotel.
The hotel is very dated. They are not open 24 hours and some nights they are already closed at 10pm likely because of a lack of people staying there. Of the three times I stayed there, twice there were knly 1 or 2 rooms in the entire hotel occupied. The early closure isn't conducive to my travel needs. The ice machines and pool don't work and haven't worked in some time. When the sign in the hotel says no expected date of reopening, it's probably not happening anytime soon. You can get ice but the front desk has to go to the bar to get it. The positive was the breakfast which is decent for a free breakfast. I stopped staying at this hotel in June when they increased their prices 25% and found a hotel just as comfortable, without the free breakfast, but $52/night cheaper in the Melville Comfort Inn.
The swimming pool has been shut down since before Christmas, the Ice machines were out of service. Room service missed a day. Way overpriced.
Had a business trip take me near by and stayed at the Howard Johnson Melville for the first time. Clean rooms, quiet, attentive front desk staff. Will be staying here the next time. The owner even ensured I had a good stay! Will be back again I'm sure.
I am travelling a lot and i am highly recommended this hotel to stay. Staff was fantastic and extremely helpful!! Room was quiet clean and renovated. Thanks again for a great experience away from home.
I came to visit with my family and the stay was great. Room attendant was very helpful and very friendly. I would definitely go back and stay if we plan to visit Melville again. Value for your money is what it is with the room and comfortable bed and quiet place.
The place is old, run down and I was wrong to book there. My tub did not drain on Day 2. The remote for the fuzzy TV did not work. The door know fell off when we left. I would be surprised if more than $10 has been spent to fix this place up. Ever! The pool was out of order with no time of it being fixed. LOL, like they would pay to fix it! Keys for the door, were real metal keys. The eating area floors look like they were installed by a 4 year old (no offense to any 4 yr olds). The "beer garden" built at the back of the hotel looks ridiculous. The paved parking lot was muddy. I am shocked that Howard Johnson or Wyndam associate their names with this property. I am pretty sure this was an abandoned building that was re-opened and nothing has been done to it since.
This hotel doesn't have night staff on duty so there was no assistance with a very noisy room. There were loud bangs occurring every 20-40 minutes throughout the entire night.
Checked in here to watch the Ladies Viterra Provincial Finals. The staff are very cordial and friendly. Turns out we knew the owner Jay who went over the top to make our stay a great one. He even provided us with a bottle of wine! . The rooms were clean and the beds just fine. We enjoyed ourselves which was evident from the recycle we left behind. I would gladly stay here again.
I stayed at the Melville Howard Johnson last night. It was good value for money. Rooms were basic but very clean. Comfortable beds. Breakfast was suitable - only problem was the attendant let supplies room down and took awhile to restock. Other than that quite satisfied with my experience. Would certainly stay again.
