As ever, this hotel met our expectations and made our Christmas break a most enjoyable time. We knew that the service would be impeccable, the rooms would be comfortable and the overall facilities would be appropriate to our needs. We enjoyed the company of the English cricket Team and their families at breakfast as a bonus this trip.
Located at the junction of Chapel Street & Toorak Road, this hotel is close to great shopping, cafes and restaurants. Trams right at the door and a train station 200metres away. Who needs a car (just as well, because parking's expensive). The rooms and amenities are great, staff are very helpful, and the WiFi fast and free.
We enjoyed our 3 day stay at the Como...helpful, warm & friendly staff, large comfortable room close to some of Melbourne’s best restaurants...Ideal location convenient to city & Sandbelt golf courses.
A lovely hotel in a great location, however things have slipped somewhat since my last visit. The room is wonderful, beautifully furbished with a fabulous bathroom and all the niceties of luxury one enjoys in a 5 star. Pity the bar was closed at 6pm and took a long while to open (they had had a function in there), no cider or soda water was available to purchase (huh?) and there was an issue with payment. Breakfast was rather tense - a nicely laid out array of options in limited quantities though we felt rather "censored" by a closely-hovering attendant (checking that we didn't overeat?). In summary, beautiful at a high level with a few cracks upon closer inspection which is a great pity as this hotel could offer a wonderfully luxurious experience.
We stayed two nights at The Como Melbourne. The staff were very friendly and helpful. We got an upgrade without asking and the room was fantastic. Customer service was excellent throughout from the front desk to room service.
Stayed one night to celebrate a milestone birthday. We upgraded to a suite with a Japanese Garden courtyard which was very relaxing and surprisingly quiet. Beware the mozzies just before dusk though! The room was amazing with lounge setting, small dining table and kitchenette including microwave. The bathroom was great with a very powerful shower. If you like a bath (we did not) there is one of the biggest tubs I have seen in a hotel room. Bed was very comfortable and had a great sleep. Had a quick gym session and there are enough machines and weights for a decent workout. Breakfast was not bad. We chose the full breakfast which entitles you to continental breakfast buffet, one selection from the a la carte menu and one coffee. I think it's a bit mean to limit each guest to only one coffee (really how much does a coffee cost to make?). Location is great for shopping as you are right on the corner of Toorak Road and Chapel Street in South Yarra. All in all had a great stay and would definitely recommend.
I have been visiting this hotel since 2007, used to be THE place to stay in Melbourne. Probably wouldn't say that anymore but it is more affordable than the big cbd hotels. It's still lovely but not keeping pace with its competitors for the five star guest. In any event, nice, comfortable and has some good touches. Bed hard but I quite liked it. Room service pretty average because even though it was delivered quickly the salmon was very over cooked. I requested medium rare (very explicitly) yet it arrived well done with soggy skin. The veges on the side were just blah. Staff friendly and helped me resolve very slow, and initially expensive WiFi (they comped in the end). Why isn't high speed wifi free in every high end hotel? I loved being back in the neighbourhood though. Lovely part of Melbourne if you want to get out of town a bit.
We arrived in a rental car on the last cusp of rush hour and anticipated a drama, but were pleasantly surprised - traffic was not too bad, the valet unloaded our bags, pointed us in the right direction and took care of the car in what were very cramped quarters. We were quickly checked in and on our way to respective rooms. My suite was spacious, comfortable and well equipped, and the bathroom a highlight - again very spacious. The location of the hotel suited our requirements, handy to a multitude of restaurants and bars, and well placed for those who enjoy an early morning walk, with the Yarra River being only 2-300m away. The walk is pleasant, flat and with attractions as rowers doing their thing guide up and down the river.
This hotel was absolutely beautiful. The staff was lovely, the bed was perfect. And it was so centrally located but also off the beaten path which was nice. I would absolutely stay there again. I would highly recommend this to anyone staying in the South Yarra area.
A beautiful, modern boutique hotel in a great location. We were treated to a room upgrade and found ourselves in the Pearl Suite! Wow! What a treat and just what we needed to celebrate new beginnings in our life. It even had its own sauna- not something you see every day. It was a really lovely place to stay, close the shopping and restaurants and exercise along the Yarra
