Great Location in CBD. Very convenient & very close to train stations. Train rides are free within the CBD. From the hotel, you can take free train to many tourist points. Holiday Inn is one of the pickup point of the day tour. Staffs were friendly & helpful. That was my 1st time to visit Melbourne, staffs gave me helpful informations like to have a leisure walk along the river ( the hotel is very close to the river), where to try the local food. The breakfast was also very good & money for value. It's not an excellent choice because it was still under interior renovation when I was there. When I got back to the room after a day out, it was very dusty.
Stayed here for 2 nights over Christmas in order to attend the Ashes Cricket Test Match at the Melbourne Cricket Ground. The hotel is well located for bus connection to Melbourne Tullamarine Airport from Southern Cross Station as well as suburban and country trains. Free tram also available to explore the city centre area and Docklands. South Wharf restaurant and bars are also within walking distance. The hotel underwent refurbishment in 2017 and my room on the 7th floor was fitted out to the usual standard of the Holiday Inn hotels throughout the world. The room was a King Leisure room with a large fixed window allowing plenty of natural light with two automatic blinds one providing total blockout to enable late sleep in, without being woken by the morning sun. The bed had a selection of firm and soft pillows to choose from. Small ledges either side of the bed with a clock radio on one side and a phone on the other, plenty of power points and the electronic window blind control switches. Small reading lights were also above each side of the bed. The large flat screen television was on the wall along side a writing desk another phone and an office style swivel chair. The tea and coffee making facilities are located in an open area above the small bar fridge with milk that also has a small freezer area for ice cubes. An electronic safe is also located above the fridge along with glasses and mugs both located behind a cupboard door. The wardrobe has plenty of hanging space, coat hangars, an ironing board and iron, hair dryer and slippers. Next to the entry door is a bench space for a suitcase and some large drawers underneath. A suitcase or bags could also be stored in the bottom of the wardrobe. The bathroom has a large walk in shower with toiletries provided and a generous supply of towels and face washers. The hand basin has a bench with glasses and room for toiletry bags to be placed underneath when not in use. A small container on the bench has complimentary shower cap, cotton balls etc. The toilet is also located within the bathroom. The air conditioning settings can be controlled within the room. The room was cleaned daily and was well presented on arrival and after cleaning the next day. Noise could not be heard in the room or corridors during my stay. Breakfast was additional and both mornings I had continental breakfast in the ground floor restaurant/bar area. Selection of juices, tea coffee, cereals, bread/toast and condiments and pastries. The staff were very friendly and checkin and checkout was processed quickly Checkout at 11am is also good. The lobby has some lounges to relax in or you can sit in the seating in the adjoining area for coffee or bar service. Would definitely revisit this hotel when looking for a hotel in Melbourne.
Super impressed with the room and the facilities. Staff were also really nice and the breakfast was also great. Only thing I would suggest is a recycling bin in the room and also around the hotel. If you want a less noisy room due to trains, I would suggest a room away from the main street . Didn’t bother us much though and the view was great!
I’ve travelled around Victoria in the past 3 weeks staying in 4 different hotels and I have to say this was the BEST. Room very big... TV, Bathroom, Bed. I could go on. The remote blinds are funky, never seen that before. Small gym and pool but adequate. Reception staff super friendly (keep up the good work ladies). I understand that hotel has recently been refurbished and to good modern standard. Only had snacks and coffee in hotel due to dinner commitments with fiends, prices as you would expect from any hotel. Good location, walking distance to tram and train station. I tired to rebook for sat and sun but fully booked. Think everyone is hear how wonderful this establishment is. 😍
Rooms are newly refurbished and quite large. Shower is big with good water pressure. Beds are comfy and the view over the pool is great. Close to trams and trains to get around or out and about. Quiet and a good place to base yourself.
Even though we were only here for 1 night the room was comfortable enough for a longer term stay. Large bed, plenty of space, desk and cosy armchair which was great to curl up in next to the wall to wall double glazed window looking onto Spencer St. The automatic blinds can be controlled from your bedside, huge shower and walk through robe into the bathroom. The only hotel facility we used was the valet parking, which was a little disappointing, no one to greet you and take your keys when you get there - this is all done at check in, and when we picked up our car it was from a dodgy little back lane way where it seemed like it was parked all night. It was a Saturday night and the city was pretty full with people celebrating at Xmas parties, so I imagine parking would be fairly busy, but I wouldn't expect this from a valet service, glad we didn't take a good car.
Located not far from the free tram stop, this Holiday property is extremely convenient from all key locations. We took their family room (4 people) which was extremely convenient for us. The breakfast was excellent compared to any other holiday inn property in Europe or America. Would surely come again.
The rooms are a good size and clean and tidy. The parking is off site and a bit of a walk if you have to return to your car if you forget something. Staff where friendly and helpful. A good place to stay if you are going to the footy.
Well located, recently has had a refurbishment and normally I would always stay at the Intercontinental, but I have to say the rooms here are better, or the room I had was better. Comfy large bed, iron that works, large Tv, blacked out blinds, great stay, smallish bathroom, but otherwise really good. Only bad thing as a Spire Elite I was not upgraded, in that case offer something else like breakfast
Stayed for a weekend trip with my husband at the Holiday Inn on Flinders. Check in was a breeze and we were upgraded to an executive room due to the fact we are platinum members with the IHG group which was a nice touch. We also got a free drinks voucher which we enjoyed down in the lobby bar before heading out to dinner! The rooms aren’t huge, but are sufficient enough and have all the amenities you need for a comfortable stay. One thing which was a bit unusual was the mini bar, this was empty and you had to order a drink from downstairs if you wanted anything. We got a bit excited and ordered too much! Reception was great though and credited what we didn’t consume, just be careful as it’s quite pricey. Staff were friendly and efficient. The only down side was that there was a bit of a damp smell in the hallways, however the positives of this hotel outweigh this being an issue. Would stay again!.
