I am a member of IHG rewards club and quite often stay in IHG hotels around the world during my personal as well as business trips. This property is below quality compared to some of the other Holiday Inn hotels I have stayed at. We were in a family room that sleeps 04. It was very small with very little room to move with two queen size beds. Bathroom was again small in size. Beds and sleep quality was OK. The breakfast is below average as they don't change their breakfast menu. we stayed 04 nights and all 05 mornings they had the same items in the menu. I won't recommend for a longer stay.
Although the room I stayed in was very small indeed, it has recently been furnished and the decor and furnishing were very stylish and modern. The bed and pillows were extremely comfortable. Holiday Inn Melbourne on Flinders is well placed and is a short walk to Southern Cross Station and walking distance to Etihad Stadium and not too far from the Crown Casino also. The staff here are friendly, professional and welcoming. There's a restaurant on site but I only dined there for breakfast and they have a great buffet breakfast set up here with everything you can imagine a good breakfast buffet should have. I thought especially given the recent refurb that this hotel offers excellent value for a four star hotel and I'd definitely come and stay here again.
This is a hotel currently undergoing some renovations. The hotel itself is very conveniently located. Just minutes walk away from southern cross station, where the busses from the airport stop. There is noise , but that didn't bother me too much, as I was out most of the time. Breakfast was basic. Nothing to write home about. Service was efficient and very seamless. I have no issues with the service, and staff were friendly. The hotel was clean too. Of course the first thing I should have done is take a picture of the room for my review. Clearly, I have forgotten to take pictures of the room, however, I've got a picture of the view from the room.
I stayed there during the white night weekend in February. Got an awesome executive suite, loved the service and attention of the staff, good bar and restaurant and amazing location just a short walk from all the action for white night! Will definitely stay here again!
On a work trip to the Reeds Gift Fair. The Hotel is perfectly position with only a 10min walk away from the convention center. Its also super close to Southern Cross Railway station and the Sky Bus terminal from the Airport. I didn't bother with the hotels breakfast as Oliviers is right next door and have delicious food at a cheaper price. Rooms are comfortable and if you sign up to IHG rewards club at reception then you get free wifi.
We were in a furnished apartment because we needed washing machine and dishwasher and we booked holiday inn to stay there after checking out at 10 am from the apartment since our flight was late in the night. Its one of the cleanest hotels you would stay in. I am not comparing in Australia only, but comparing to many hotels I tried before. Actually they are working on renewing the rooms and I think we got one of the new rooms. The bed is too comfy. It was so nice to stay there. The reception staff and the door guy are very welcoming. The hotel is very centered in the city. The tram is very near. Coles supermarket, Spencer Outlet and train station are in a walking distance. Crown Casino, DFO outlet and South Wharf and river walk are in walking distance and accessible by tram if u don't want to walk. enjoyed trying this hotel.
I am with IHG group so more often than not stay in one of their hotels where available. Helpful and friendly staff, and pretty well located in the free tram zone and with 2 tram stops close by and Southern Cross easy walking distance. Rooms are standard for this size and type of hotel.
The hotel staff were very friendly and rooms were clean. I was aware that renovation was taking place so I brought a.sound machine to cover up the noise. They allowed us to check in early which was wonderful. Breakfast was wonderful. It seems expensive until you go out on the street and pay $4.50 for a very small cup of coffee. At least I could drink as much coffee as I wanted at breakfast. So the price wasn't bad. Would definitely recommend!
When I arrived I was given a room on the 8th floor. After unpacking my car, I was told they looked wrong on the screen and am on the first floor. As I was soon to find out, this meant I was in an older room with an inter leading (locked) door, at the lifts, and near the pool door as well as gym door. I could deal with construction noise of the refurbishment, as they work between certain times but the traffic past my door at all hours was unpleasant. That inter-leading door caused a very awkward experience. My teenage daughter woke up to voices as people checked in late one night. She then spent time in the bathroom instead of listening to the sounds that followed. I slept through this and she only told me much later. Very unpleasant. Staff were friendly enough. Room was made up daily. Proximity to trams and station is really good. WiFi has to be paid for and parking cost is ridiculously expensive for someone who is not having their trip paid by a company. Feather mattress topper was broken and was only replaced after I asked for it. Even though it was spewing feathers everywhere. This is the only property, on a 2-week road trip through Australia, that I booked purely on prior Holiday Inn experiences. If I had read the reviews I would've booked elsewhere. This will be my final Holiday Inn stay.
Had 5 nights here recently weeknights and weekend. No real faults. Location close to transport. Taxi rank outside, lots of Uber hovering close by, and 2 blocks from Southern Cross Station where the Airport bus drops you off. Had a refurbished room with panoramic courtyard views and all new fittings - very comfortable. The only real drawback it seems is construction noise during the day - but luckily it wasn't close to my floor. Front desk and restaurant staff were attentive without being overbearing and the restaurant food was a cut above the normal Holiday Inn fare by way of quality. When back to Melbourne I would definitely stay again.
