The most noticeable thing about this hotel is the staff. They are friendly, funny, helpful and efficient ....... which is exactly what you want as guest. The restaurant and bar are nice, comfortable and relaxing.Room was spacious and clean and of course the location is just right for seeing Melbourne. The only negative, and this applies to the majority of hotels,is the gym.It is too small and there were no wipes to clean equipment but hey how many guests use the gym !!!!!
I recently stayed for 2 nights at the Holiday Inn Flinders in Melbourne. It's a nice hotel in a great location, walking distance from pretty much everything in central Melbourne. The staff was friendly and helpful, and my room was very comfortable. They are upgrading the hotel so there is some construction noise during the day, but I didn't find it intrusive. I will definitely stay there again.
We visited during construction, so it was dirtier/noisier than normal. WiFi was not great in the room, but good in the lounge. Hotel bar/restaurant is a good perk for having something right there and easily access. Hotel staff was great, very friendly and helpful. Recommend for an easy location but not for a luxury stay.
Stayed here the night with friends before a two night party cruise from Melbourne to Sydney. The hotel has a central location close to Southern Cross Station and is pretty close to the major tram routs. The room was a newly renovated room and I would describe the decor and furnishings as modern. It was very clean and comfortable and served its purpose well. It is modern but no frills and certainly not to 5 star level of what you would expect at a more pricey establishment. Having said that I think the renovations make it a highly competitive alternative to stay at if you are looking for budget prices.
I stayed here for a weekend prior to meetings in Melbourne last month and it was well positioned for both business and pleasure. I hired a bike for the weekend which was delivered to the hotel and was handled perfectly by the concierge service. Having a refrigerator in the room was a real benefit to keep drinks, etc cool after a long ride. The room looked like it had been recently refurbished, so was very clean and modern. The breakfast was good, with various hot and cold options and a chef service for your choice of eggs or omelette in the morning. I did not get to use the pool, but it was nice to have the option if needed.
I review this motel last year since then the hotel has undergone renovation. The rooms are now excellent very sleek and modern and roomy. The bathrooms are great with lots of space. Wifi and choice of TV is good. The staff in the restaurant are a bit disinterested but besides that a good place to stay
Good location for city centre and station. Very pleasant staff, good breakfast, buffet style with hot and cold choices plus eggs cooked to order. Breakfast was offered at a discount rate with our room only booking. Rooms a little dated but hotel is in process of being refurbished. Bed was very comfortable and blackout curtains excellent. Good wifi. Check out at 12 noon, reception staff happy to keep our luggage and for us to use pool changing room shower late afternoon.
Great location, close to everything However the bathrooms could use a bit of work, but tired Breakkie very good and friendly staff Have stayed there in the past and would stay there again Can recommend it
I have stayed here occasionally over the last 12 years but recently have preferred the nearby Crowne Plaza. The hotel was getting a bit tired but I have now experienced one of the refurbished rooms and its a smart change. The rooms have been given a modern look and a new fitout. Modern requirements such as USB and plenty power points make a difference. The hotel is in a great location near Southern Cross Station and the river. It's a low rise building so no spectacular views but its very good value and the lick of paint means it's worth another look. Note some floors are still being done up so there may be some daytime noise until this is finished.
To be fair they are starting to do up their rooms, so when booking ask to be in a redone room. Our room on the top floor was tired but presentable, although when booking we had asked for and accepted a room on the 4th floor but this hadn't been recorded, even though my husband stays regularly for work. The bed was rock hard and I didn't have a good night sleep the entire time, so I'm hoping they plan to change the beds. The big problem being the shower, it was extremely dangerous and I would never let a child shower in it. It took forever for the hot water to come through, so thinking it needed more we turned it up. 2 minutes later it comes in scalding hot (dangerously so) and on trying to turn it down it took about 1.5 mins so I couldn't stand under it for all this time. By then I had turned it too far (there are no indicators) and it was really cold, up down up down. We never had a proper shower while staying. The breakfasts are great and worthwhile, and 2/3 people serving in the bar were great. One was extremely rude, serving all the men and then totally ignoring me and when I went up then to ask for a wine he brought it back 2/3 full,, so I asked him to add to it (politely) he definitely wasn't impressed because he had to start a new bottle. The front desk were very welcoming and showed me in detail where to go and what to do. We had dinner there and I ordered a risotto seafood dinner, which only had 4 small pieces of seafood. I never said anything until same man asked how it was, and I said it was ok but it couldn't really be classed as a seafood dish as there practically wasn't any and he didn't bother answering. If your going to ask someone, then don't get stroppy if they answer politely but honestly. Its better to not ask. Apart from him the other afternoon bar staff were excellent.
