Let me start this review by point out the amazong weather of medellin, colombia. So cool and nice. We were 6 guys on a bachelor getaway at he beginning we were a little defensive since the rooms didnt have any air conditioning, but to our surprise it wasnt needed, very cool and 0 humidity at night. The staff was very attentive and helpful. The breakfast was very simple, cereal, milk, orange juice if you got up late the eggs were gone already. Will definitely go back to Medellin but will try another hotel.
Even though it has the name HOTEL attached to it, it is not! It is more like a big house that has been remodeled to 15 rooms. The location is excellent. I wouldn't attempt to walk to "Parque Lleras but Santa Fe and Oviedo are very doable. The ladies at the front desk were more pleasant to deal with than the men. The "hotel" is clean and quiet for the most part but, you will hear other guest talking, opening and closing of doors and motorcycle noise. The rooms vary in size but, they are all comfortable. Beware, only 3 rooms have Air Conditioners and there will be an extra fee for those! Something else to look out for; if you are a foreigner, there is suppose to be no IVA (tax) charged. Also, the "hotel insurance" is not mandatory. Wi-Fi is included as well as breakfast which is freshly made to order. Over all, my experience was mostly pleasant however, I noticed numerous new "hostal's" that would put this place to shame!
I stayed there for 4 nights and I must say it is one of the nicest places i have ever slept at. Nice rooms, quite clean, very convenient location and the best staff. It is a great choice if you don't like noisy areas although is quite close to the bars and restaurants of Poblado.
When I made the reservation, I asked about accessibility. The reply was the entrance had scales. They should have said nine stairs to lobby. Overall the hotel is clean but the morning breakfast is on the small size. A couple pieces of pineapple, papaya, a glass of orange juice, no other juice, a small omelet, but unlimited coffee. The bedroom had a hard double bed, fan no a/c, a desk with old type TV, not flat screen leaving little room for a lap top. The bathroom is another story. Almost impossible to use the toilet, one leg in the shower, remove the toilet paper and put other leg between holder. When you turned on the shower the door has to be closed quickly or the water runs on the floor in front of the sink. The mirror is short and I had to bend over to see to shave. The best part of the hotel is the yard with many flowers, animals and makes for a tranquil setting. The staff personnel are friendly and helpful.
I live in Miami and do a lot of business here in Colombia. I have been to almost all the hotels, from 3 stars to 5 stars so I can talk from experience. If you are looking for a getaway and want to be in a very nice sweet good looking area, I recommend this hotel. This is not a 5 star high quality hotel but it is classic, quiet and beautiful. Employees are extremely friendly, my only complaint was the quality of wifi. Other than than I'm cool with everything else. Peace.
only good thing to say about this hotel is that employees are nice and friendly. Other than that, wouldn't recommend this hotel. Not centrally located, bathrooms way too small even for a short person, no phone directory, no a/c TV is from early 80's, mind bar poorly stocked (only 3 sodas, 2 beers and I bottle of water. No iron, no ironing table and only 4 clothes hangers. . . Priced way too high for what its offered. If possible, stay away from this hotel!!
The hotel is actually one of the houses of the already 30-40 year old neighborhood, located across the street one of the best social clubs in Medellin. The neighborhood is quite calm and very trendy, not to mention how safe and well located it is. Now, about the stay ::: - The rooms are a bit old styled and I'd say the old TV sets could be replaced, though I had a good 37" one which still works fine. - The bathroom is simple and good enough, but nothing fancy... it does the job and it was clean! - Breakfast was good and you had a couple of options to choose from, being it's patio location really nice, since it's by the garden and all the birds can be seen and listened to. I'd likely go back if I needed a cheap option in the neighborhood. It's the typical bead and breakfast setting, with very good service and very willing staff.
The accommodations were clean, but lacking in a few basic needs. There was a lack of paper products for the bathroom and we had to ask to receive them. The room was clean but it wasn´t freshened up daily. We had to ask for towels etc; The staff was very nice, but had to be asked for services. The restaurant staff was very nice although the menu was limited. Food was average, but good. No A/C so it was hot at times. Especially in the afternoons. Not close to any restaurants or shopping. At least 2 km´s to the SanteFe Mall. Not realy safe to walk, so bes to get a taxi. Neighborhood was quite and peacful. Mostly residential homes in the area. Cable TV, but no USA channels . Had to watch BBC or CNN for news. WI-Fi was good.
I stayed there once. It is a small, but very pleasant place to stay. Rooms are clean, furniture is in good state and the service is excellent. Front desk was very helpful. The hotel is on a hill and breakfast is served in an open patio which is a very pleasant way of starting your day. Breakfast is nice, I remember ordering extra portions of scrambled eggs with that funny white cheese of them because I liked it so much. It's kind of a boutique hotel. Safe, comfortable, clean, not luxurious but certainly not cheap-looking either. Price is reasonable. I would have no problem at all staying there again.
