Convenient location which is walkable to most places. No dedicated drop off points which made loading and unloading of suitcases very difficult. Lobby is on level 2, had to stop the car at the roadside with hazard lights on to ask what are the parking options, especially when the hotel parking is full. Map of the other city carpark options provided is very detailed. Amenities provided in the lobby is great. Breakfast has decent choices but can get extremely crowded.

We had a very pleasant stay at this hotel. Everything about the room was very comfortable and we highly recommend staying here. The hotel staff went above and beyond to help us when we encountered an issue with ETC along the way to this hotel in our rental car. (The issue had nothing to do with the hotel.) We asked the front desk how we should handle this issue as tourists and their staff and management went out of their way to make several phone calls on our behalf with the ETC staff and our rental car company explaining what happened. The hotel manager even said that if our rental car company or ETC gave us any issues when we turn our car in, to reach out to him directly and he would help us which was a very compassionate gesture to offer us. Not only will you get a nice and comfortable hotel room if you stay here, but you will also have very emphatic and friendly staff who will go above and beyond! We are very thankful to the hotel management and staff for taking such great care of us!

We stayed in the Standard Double Room, Non Smoking (No Extra Bed, 18 sqm). The room was clean, practical, and slightly more spacious than typical business hotels. The bathroom had a small bath tub, which is customary, and a humidifier was provided where you add your own water before switching it on. Amenities such as coffee, toothbrushes, and combs were available at the lobby’s self-service corner. Check in was smooth and the hotel already had our Expedia reservations prepared. As with most Japanese hotels, copies of our passports were taken during registration. The hotel also provides coin laundry facilities along with vending machines for drinks and beer. The location is convenient, a short walk from Matsumoto Station and within walking distance to Matsumoto Castle. While there is a shopping mall right beside the hotel, it is currently closed. The nearest active mall is further south, closer to the bus terminal. Overall, Richmond Hotel Matsumoto provided a comfortable stay in a well connected part of the city.

Loved the central location to Matsumoto train and bus station. The hotel was walking distance to the castle, frog walkway, Media Garden and restaurants. The room was comfortable and loved the self-service amenities offered (toiletry options, coffee, tea). Would definitely stay again!

Clean room. Lovely staff. Great amentities. Great shower. I found the mattress firm but thats just me. We had no AC or heat in our room due to a malfunction but a lovely girl at the front desk brought us a Dyson heater to use.

My husband and I stayed at the Richmond hotel for two nights. It’s in a great location, and the rooms were reasonably priced and clean. The staff were really kind, and helped organise luggage forwarding to our next hotel. Our only bugbear was that we could hear other people on the floor - they were pretty loud. It would be great to have had a little more sound proofing.

Perfect hotel for a stay in Matsumoto, parking is next to the hotel, rooms are large by Japanese standards and the cafe on the ground floor has a very varied breakfast for Y1200... you may have to wait a bit to get a table as it's popular.
