We spent two nights in this lovely B&B owned by Heidi and Werner, originally from Switzerland. They are extremely welcoming and offer very comfortable rooms, ours (the Venetian) was a very good size with a small deck that caught the sun, and a lovely little fountain trickling to the side of the deck. We were not aware of any aircon but the room with its lovely high ceilings and solid walls was cool enough for us in February. The gardens are beautiful, with a small plunge pool, a gym shed, a vineyard, orchard, vegetable garden, a few livestock and a tractor. Heidi and Werner kindly invited all guests for a welcome drink and canapés where we were served their homegrown Chardonnay and it was lovely. We sat on the veranda in the evening sun with the other guests and it was simply lovely and very fitting of this quaint building full of antiques and lovely artwork. Breakfast was delicious with much of the produce coming from the gardens tended by Werner and Heidi. Heidi was a very attentive host and we absolutely loved this luxury B&B and would highly recommend it.
We stayed only one night here but would have chosen longer if our itinerary had allowed. We were warmly greeted on arrival and Heidi ( the proprietor) was able to suggest several ideas for things to do to make the most of our time in that area and also booked a table for dinner at one of the local wineries for us. We were invited for a welcoming drink early evening to socialise with the hosts and other guests, a very nice touch. Our room was a good size, well equipped and very clean. The house is classic and stylish, the garden is interesting and nothing seemed too much trouble for the hosts. A fantastic place to stay.
Truly enjoyed our stay at this beautiful bed and breakfast. The location was perfect with easy access to the Marlborough wine region and Sound. The rooms are spacious and comfortable and the surrounding farm scenic and beautiful. Heidi and Werner are very nice and gracious hosts. Loved it and looking forward to returning soon.
Heidi and Werner have to be the most gracious friendly host I have ever met. I took my mom there for her 75th birthday and we were met with open arms, great advice and five star service. Peppertree is unbelievable. Every room feels like you are stepping back in time as you relax with a sherry, tea or a glass of wine. We stayed 3 nights. Heidi set up a private wine tour with Marlborough Elite Tours (Fay), I reviewed earlier as 5 stars as well, and all of our transportation to and from some of the best dinning in the area. The breakfast each morning was wonderful as we met people from around the world each day but yet small and special service by Heidi herself. Our room and bathroom were set in a time period that made you forget all your worries and the bathroom wood floor is next to none in beauty. I can’t say enough about this beautiful place and our host. It made our trip so special. Thank you!
The Peppertree is an exceptional Edwardian home set among idyllic gardens with a delightful range of native flora and fauna (including two large ducks, Fixie and Foxie, with more personality than many people we've met). It is exquisitely maintained, down to the beautiful Wisteria vines on the front verandah and the 100+ year old hardwood floors. The owners and hosts, Heidi and Werner, are a delight. Refined, personable, interesting and proactively helpful. They alone make a stay at Peppertree worth the trip. Our room, with an external balcony overlooking a small private garden, was bright, clean, airy and very pleasant. With wind wafting through the outside trees during the day and a panoply of stars in the crystalline air at night, the setting was soothing. Multiple areas in the home permitted quiet reading or conversation without the constant presence of other guests. Heidi and Werner have their own chardonnay vineyard and share the output with their guests. Quite a treat. Excellent home-grown wine, good conversation, all in a wonderfully bucolic setting. Make the effort to visit the Peppertree. You will not be disappointed.
The Peppertree is a manor house with fascinating gardens. They have their own winery, with the wine exclusively for guests. You could easily spend an hour looking around the gardens, a real labour of love. Our room was comfortable, with a good size ensuite. We had a good nights sleep with no noise issues. Well located, being in the heart of wine country and a five minute drive away from Blenheim. We were generally happy with this choice for our accommodation in the Blenheim area. However it did feel over priced compared to other places we stayed at during our two week trip around the South Island, though that may reflect the Blenheim wine country market.
This is a very special place. A beautiful Edwardian house and kept immaculately both inside and out. The entrance to the hotel, surrounded as it is by vines and gardens, promiss much and the experience delivers. Great hospitality from the owners and a step back in time to the beauty of the early 20th century. Thoroughly recommend it.
We arrived exhausted after a very (no breakfast) early start and a very rough ferry crossing from Wellington to the beautiful, Wisteria festooned, tranquil, Shangri - la that is The Peppertree. Heidi welcomed us as long lost friends to her wonderful home and provided us with the means to eat our own food on our private patio next to a fountain beneath, what else, a Peppertree. Very welcome gesture as we were very tired but I'm sure she would have cooked for us if we had asked. In the evening we were invited to and attended a welcoming wine and canopies party with other guests. Heidi and Werner showed the are not just excellent at bed and breakfast but are very good wine producers too. Their own label white wine is light and refreshing. The rooms are spacious and comfortable, warm and airy. The gardens around the house are full of fruit trees, and flowers, wild ducks and I saw some rabbits. Our breakfast was a joy. Well stocked cereal bar and fresh fruit with the full English to follow. As a parting gift Heidi presented us with some muffins for our onward journey wrapped in silver foil in the shape of a gondola. Heidi and Werner are special people, wish we had stayed longer.
Heidi and her husband run a lovely lodge in the heart of the wine district. Breakfasts were delicious. Heidi was a gracious and helpful host. The property is just outside of downtown (not walkable), but we were driving so no issue for us. It is very close to the wineries and perfect base for a day or more of touring.
Recently stayed here with my partner and got engaged at the Peppertree Accommodation. Stayed in the luxury double room with a balcony overlooking a beautiful little garden. From the moment you walk in the door Heidi and her husband give you a very personal stay. Beautiful breakfast with All Ranges of food. Although beside the main road it is very very quiet. A little pricey but would recommend.
