We arrived exhausted after a very (no breakfast) early start and a very rough ferry crossing from Wellington to the beautiful, Wisteria festooned, tranquil, Shangri - la that is The Peppertree. Heidi welcomed us as long lost friends to her wonderful home and provided us with the means to eat our own food on our private patio next to a fountain beneath, what else, a Peppertree. Very welcome gesture as we were very tired but I'm sure she would have cooked for us if we had asked. In the evening we were invited to and attended a welcoming wine and canopies party with other guests. Heidi and Werner showed the are not just excellent at bed and breakfast but are very good wine producers too. Their own label white wine is light and refreshing. The rooms are spacious and comfortable, warm and airy. The gardens around the house are full of fruit trees, and flowers, wild ducks and I saw some rabbits. Our breakfast was a joy. Well stocked cereal bar and fresh fruit with the full English to follow. As a parting gift Heidi presented us with some muffins for our onward journey wrapped in silver foil in the shape of a gondola. Heidi and Werner are special people, wish we had stayed longer.
Heidi and her husband run a lovely lodge in the heart of the wine district. Breakfasts were delicious. Heidi was a gracious and helpful host. The property is just outside of downtown (not walkable), but we were driving so no issue for us. It is very close to the wineries and perfect base for a day or more of touring.
Recently stayed here with my partner and got engaged at the Peppertree Accommodation. Stayed in the luxury double room with a balcony overlooking a beautiful little garden. From the moment you walk in the door Heidi and her husband give you a very personal stay. Beautiful breakfast with All Ranges of food. Although beside the main road it is very very quiet. A little pricey but would recommend.
Cannot say enough wonderful things about this old villa, it's lovely decor (a wonderful combination of antiques with little modern touches and beautiful flower arrangements), its owners and hosts (from Switzerland), the small vineyard, olive trees and pepper trees!! The beds are so comfortable, bathrooms large, breakfast more than ample and using local ingredients. The only thing one should be aware of is that Town and lunch and dinner is 5.5 Km away....walkable (along a vineyard bike path) but a $20 taxi ride each way. Still, I'd return in a heartbeat!!
A wonderful Edwardian villa with fabulous, friendly and helpful hosts. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at The Peppertree. Heidi, immediately sprung into action with advice for places to visit during our stay and the best restaurants to go to, and then booking them for us. Evenings were started with Heidi and Werner hosting a get together with all the guests, offering wine made from their own vineyard along with tasty canapés. Breakfasts were a fine affair with homemade cakes and preserves as well as fruit, yoghurt and bircher muesli followed by a cooked breakfast. Our room was comfortable and nicely decorated. Tea and coffee making facilities were provided, with pretty tea cups and saucers. The gardens were a joy to walk around.
We stayed for three nights as a base for visiting the Marlborough region and absolutely loved it. Beautiful setting, great room, fabulous hosts and super breakfast each morning. Our hosts made us feel very welcoming and helped with restaurant bookings etc. Perfect in every way!
First class accommodation with vineyard and orchard. Extremely friendly owners and staff. Exquisite bedroom. Very spacious and a bathroom of remarkable taste. The breakfast was absolutely delicious and full of homegrown products. The wine was excellent and from their own vineyard. A real luxurious holiday
This is really luxury accommodation in every way. The welcome we received from Heidi when we arrived in the pouring rain was fantastic. She made us immediately feel welcome offering us a cup of tea, offering to book an evening meal and a wine tasting trip for the next day. Our room, the William Morris suite, was spacious and tastefully decorated in period. The bathroom was truly luxurious with a high standard shower and bath. Heidi and Werner invited us to meet our fellow guests at an early evening wine tasting of wines produced by Werner. Breakfast was a beautiful fare with a large choice of cereals, fruits, homemade yogurt and jams. The cooked dishes came garnished with edible flowers. Our bed was also turned down for the evening. Heidi offers a laundry service and the clothes come back dried and folded. There are so many little personal touches it is difficult to list them all but you would never get this kind of personal service in the most expensive hotel.
Truly one of the most spectacular stays of my time. Expensive and worth every dime. What Heidi and Werner have done is nothing short of amazing. 20 years ago, they left Sweden and a hectic life and settled in Blenheim. We had an amazing room, phenomenal homemade breakfast, checked out the resident cow, calf, ducks, and sheep. Fruit trees are plentiful here and we got to pick and eat our own fruit. All I wanted at breakfast was to eat plucked blackberries and toast with Heidi's homemade jams. Do order a soft boiled egg as the contraption to crack your egg open is an event. Breakfast is a communal gathering and incredibly enjoyable. Words cannot describe Heidi and Werner's hospitality. Oh by the way, there are phenomenal Marlborough wineries and restaurants to keep you occupied. I was beyond incredibly sad to leave as the feeling of relaxation during our stay was indisputable
What a wonderful B&B. Heidi and Werner go out of their way to make our stay perfect. They are very welcoming and the Peppertree is a luxurious place perfect for wine tours in beautiful Marlborough wine country. Breakfast was a social affair with other guests and hot food was cooked perfectly to order. We very much enjoyed the chance to meet other guests over a glass of Werner's wine and Heidi's canapés on one of our evenings there. Would definitely recommend.
