My mom and I recently took a quick trip to Amish country, and stayed in a really nice, large, new hotel there for a few days. We loved everything about it. Before coming home, we decided to go to Malabar Farm and stay 1 night in the Mohican Lodge since it was nearby. When we got checked in at the desk, it was a long walk to our room, and we had to pull our baggage up/down some stairs in order to get to the room. We asked for the top floor, and when we walked out on the balcony there was literally a tree right in front of us, and a sidewalk below us. No view for us at all because of that. I knew this was a ‘lodge’ but we found it to be a little too rustic for our liking. The room was too dark with all of the wooden walls, and brown carpet, the bathroom was pretty small, but there was an extra sink, counter and mirror right outside the bathroom. We just weren’t impressed. We ate dinner in the Bromfield restaurant in site, and what we had was good. But it was not that impressive to us either, but our waiter was friendly and attentive. I could see this possibly being a fun place to getaway with a young family who wants to fish, swim, boat, or otherwise enjoy the nearby lake without being in a camper or tent, but this one wasn’t for us. We thought we would enjoy the pool, but there were a lot of kids and people sitting around out there already, some who were smoking near the far edges of the pool area, and it just seemed too crowded and awkward so we bypassed it. We stayed the night, but wont do that again.
Clean, comfortable room, great beds and pillows, very nice shower, spacious, wonderful amenities, delicious food in both the bar and Bromfield dining room, (excellent pizza) my grandsons loved it, ping pong, pool table, fire pits, shuffleboard, basketball court, lovely walking paths, very nice gift shop, nature programs ( missed the snakes this time, but loved it when we were there previously)! All this, and a staff who aim to please, makes this a favorite place of mine and my grandsons! Deb in Housekeeping was a sweet lady and always smiling. Lois and Karyn were two of our servers in the dining room, and they were both awesome! A little birdie told me that Karyn’s boyfriend was a chef there, so kudos to him or whoever prepared our food! It was all deliciously prepared and presented. The front desk staff were all very kind and helpful, forgive me for not remembering everyone’s names. You were all very much appreciated regardless of your duties, and I am grateful!
My family and I stopped in here to have lunch before we went out on the lake for the day. Beautiful views! The staff was very friendly and everyone was happy with their meals. I wish I remembered our servers name because she was awesome! My sisters and I will definitely be bringing the kids back to stay for a long weekend.
My husband and I took an overnight trip to Mohican State Park Lodge. The lake setting is beautiful especially when viewed from the large patio outside the dining room. The rooms here are spotless, large and have an outdoor deck. The lobby has many areas for cozy conversations. There are several outside fire pits that can be enjoyed for a fee. We ate in the on site dining room. We had pizza even though it was not featured in the main dining room and was a pub item. Our waitress, Robin, allowed us to put in an order and she personally prepared it for us. It was delicious! Robin was an attentive and accomplished server. She went the extra mile for us throughout our meal. We spent the day hiking and the evening sitting on the patio watching the beautiful sunset. We just love this park. Highly recommend.
I stay there every year for my birthday and really enjoy it. They have a very friendly staff and really good maid service that i think is under paid for what they do. It is a good place for family fun there is a lot to do near by or just hang out there. Beautiful views of the lake they have a restaurant with very good food and a sports bar and an indoor pool with a sauna and a outdoor pool also. When i stay i usually just hang around there and never get borad. Very relaxing place, i really like sitting next to their firplace in the big rocking chairs and write or read and enjoy the big picture windows looking out at the lake. I do recommend the lodge.
We stayed here for a Thursday- Sunday birthday getaway. It was really nice. We pretty much had the place to ourselves Thursday evening. So quiet and relaxing. Sat in the rockers by the fire pit. Played a little ping pong. Had a wonderful birthday dinner. Our waiter Eric gets a special shoutout. He was very helpful and attentive. When he learned it was my birthday he made my free birthday dessert extra special including a candle to blow out. Activity picked up Friday and Saturday and everyone seemed to be enjoying themselves. You could find little nooks with plush comfy seating to hang out in besides the room. There’s a nice path down to the lake. Housekeeping staff was very friendly. We ate a total of three breakfasts and three dinners in the dining room, all the meals were great. I especially recommend the fried green beans, NY Strip Steak and the Coconut Shrimp. My husband also recommended the panini , Chicken Rice soup, and the BBQ Pork Sandwich. The Snickers Cheesecake was divine. Great omelette. Sunday morning they had a breakfast buffet which was very tasty. Besides Eric, all the other wait staff we interacted with were great- Barb, Cassie, Robin and Lois. Front Desk staff were also great and friendly. This is a convenient place to stay especially since we hiked both Friday and Saturday and visited both Mansfield, Holmes County and Malabar Farm. Definitely plan to return when the weather is warm to kayak.
On a snowy February 10 and 11, we visited the Mohican State Park Lodge -- it was wonderful! Our room was clean, comfortable, and the view from our wooden deck was beautiful. The staff at the lodge were friendly and helpful. And, the two dinners in the dining room were fabulous - kudos to the chef ! We were hoping for a quiet few days with gorgeous water views - it was that and more! We will certainly visit again.
Was very nice. Had a good stay and the girls in the restaurant and lounge were great! Reserved our room and was getting a double and they upgraded us to a king room at no additional charge which we very much appreciated. Great view from our room!
We stayed at this facility for a weekend to attend a conference. Staff was very friendly, Room was clean. Our room had a beautiful view of the lake. It appears that every requirement for the conference was met. We only had breakfast in the dining room, and it was very good. The only complaint we heard from any attendees was about the layout of the buildings. The facility is designed on multiple levels with each level being separated by a short set of stairs. If you don't like to walk or navigate stairs, definitely ask for a room near the lobby. Otherwise, you're going to get your exercise. We anticipate going back in the Summer to enjoy the outdoors. We would recommend this place to anyone.
Stayed here New Years Eve. Everything was good. Room, dinner and New Years party. Electric went off in some areas of the lodge due to high winds. Front desk was very nice handling the situation.Refunds were made available to those that wanted because they couldn’t serve a hot breakfast. Yes I will stay here again.
