Pendulum Hotel

Avoid if you can. There is no air conditioning. In hot weather the rooms get extremely hot. They had fans but they hardly did anything. The rooms are also extremely small, there's hardly space to move around the small double bed. Breakfast is limited and of relatively poor quality, including the juice.

There's a gigantic pendulum that swings back and forth constantly, down from a high floor and into the middle of the entry area. Hence the name of the hotel. Yes this is a conference center. No nonsense. Well suited for business and academic travel and events. The rooms are well designed and include everything one needs to outfit a temporary home away from home. Breakfast, served in the Hub Bistro, is buffet and fully adequate. Evening dinner in the same restaurant is superb - one of the best kept secrets in Manchester.

From checking in to checking out , this hotel was amazing loved the beer garden and the breakfast was superb. The staff were lovely, Will definitely be going back. Rooms are clean and tidy if a little small but we only use it for a bed.

We stayed as part of a superbreak deal so it was great value for money. We opted to pay £10 for late checkout at 2pm which was definitely worth it. The hotel itself is located less than a 10 minutes walk from Manchester Piccadilly station. As has been previously mentioned the rooms are quite small but that was not a problem as we only stayed one night. It would have been nice to use the garden bar as it looked very nice but we didn't have time. They also offer 24hr room service. Everything was perfect, as both me and my partner work in a 4* hotel we were expecting similar or even less than what were used to however the hotel exceeded our expectations in every way! Especially breakfast which had a great variety of food, all the staff were lovely and accommodated to my dietary requirements. We are very impressed, the only bad thing was checking out as we didn't want to leave!!

We stayed for the Parklife Festival Weekend and can not fault our stay. Lovely clean room, really friendly attentive staff, great central location. The value for money is unbelievable. When we return to Manchester we will be staying here 5*

I stayed here for a week for work and I can not fault the hotel. My room was clean and well presented. Service was first class, staff were always friendly and helpful and the food was great. Ideally situated near Manchester Piccadilly too. I would certainly be happy to return.

Stayed here recently. Hotel was worse looking and more dated than the photos. Tried complaining about the room being unbearably hot. The staff were no help and got me the manager. The duty manager just said it was my own fault for booking the compact room and was rude unpolitical towards me. Personally I found his answer rude and unfair. I have emailed the property since to complain and got no reply. Hence this negative review, I would never stay at this awful hotel again, and you would be mad to book it. When spending over £150 for a night in a tiny hot room I would at least expect an apology. I certainly won't be staying or recommending to anyone

Made welcome as soon as arrived, check in quick and easy. Room was not yet ready which was no issue as went for a drink in conservatory bar (lovely on a nice day) Returned to reception and was told room was ready however on entering our room it had not yet been cleaned- bins full, dirty towels in bath, beds moved half across room obviously not a great first impression however rang reception issue sorted within 20 mins. Returned from our night out was advised room service was 24 hours so tried to order only to be told they would ring us back- waited 15 minutes with nothing so rang down again to be told only cold sandwiches available (no apology for leaving us waiting 15 minutes and not ringing us back) Not the best but can't complain considering the time and in all fairness I think the hotel was extremely busy due to concert however wish we would have known so could have got something on way back to hotel. Only other issue was the extractor fan in the bathroom keeping us awake for about half an hour after switching bathroom light off? Must be on a timer? Couldn't find seperate switch for it (if there is our mistake!) Very loud almost like a helicopter landing in our room :) Other than that breakfast was nice, hotel clean enough and outside area really nice. Lovely man on main reception although didn't get his name- very helpful with regards to getting us a taxi and then asking if we enjoyed our night the following morning. Would stay again but perhaps on a cheaper deal as don't personally feel was worth what we paid.

Stayed at the pendulum for one night on a bed and breakfast booking while visiting Manchester for a Robbie Williams concert. The hotel is in a good location with a large multi-story car park next door. It is generally clean and tidy with very helpful staff. We ate in the restaurant which was pleasant and reasonably priced. The breakfast was very nice with good service. My only two complaints would be my bathroom was slightly tired (but clean) and the price £189 for one night! As the title states in my opinion very excessive!

Welcomed with vodka and cranberry shots! Great stay as it is in a good location for the Etihad where we went. Large, clean room with a strong shower. Super breakfast and friendly staff. Choice of hot and cold breakfast options.
