We own a small apartment in Palma Nova and were anxious for a group of friends - 22 people - to stay at a hotel nearby. Hotel Tropico Playa was conveniently close by so we booked for our friends who were coming from all over England and from USA. We were horrified at the attitude of the ‘gentleman’ at the reception who kept telling them to look on the website rather than give answers to basic questions that were asked. They had to pay to access a television remote and pay for the use of the fridge and safe in the room. The beds and pillows were uncomfortable and one day a week there was no provision for maid service. There were loud staff members in the dining room - not pleasant or polite as people in the hospitality business should be. We were embarrassed that we had chosen this hotel for our friends (one couple run a chain of hotels in USA). Although they paid for full board they only had breakfast there as they all preferred to eat elsewhere the rest of the time. We would urge the management to look at the attitude of the staff and upgrade the service they provide.
The best location in Palmanova, superb views. Very nice and friendly staff, you feel the service is very personal, as the hotel isn't too large. Food OK, all inclusive is very convenient. They also provide picnic packs if you go out for the day. We use this hotel for our October holidays and it is perfect for us.
I am an avid review reader and sometimes rely on reviews to make my decision so hope this review helps you! we were 2 young couples on a october 4 night break. Firstly the hotel location is ideal.... beach views on the strip, by all the shops and resturants. Ideal! Inside the hotel... welcome prosseco drinks (amazing touch) lovely decor, really nice finishing touches. Staff- Amazing and we all agreed that they really do make this place what it it Food- although repetitive there was always something to eat. Drinks... STRONG! and always on offer (ideal for us!!) Entertainment- amazing, we was there for the Halloween night and they went above and beyond! great night! On the other nights there was always entertainment whether it be a magician, flamenco dancers or DJ now sadly the downsides The room- over whelming smell of damp and really grubby we was put in what i could only describe as the staff quarters (as we seen a waiter let himself into the room next to ours, and his balcony was not separate to ours, it was just one big one) There was also ZERO lights. seriously unsafe especially when it was accessible to the public. who wants to walk down an unlit corridor? or the light switch be next to your room. The last day it rained and they closed the upstairs bar which meant no snacks and 4 hungry guests! The pool- not shallow incredibly deep. Over all the staff was really good and would return, however not for more than 4 nights.
Our first visit to this hotel, family of five (three teens) two rooms booked on an all inclusive basis. Asked for sea views, one room was provided with SV, the other at the back of the hotel, we asked for a change to be closer to our children were offered a change on the second day which was excellent. Good points: Friendly staff, all English speaking, very accommodating and helpful. Reception staff great, restaurant staff fab and super friendly, always keeping tables clear of dirty plates. Bar staff very entertaining and friendly. Maids were lovely too, kept the rooms tidy and changed linen and towels every day. Food was good with a wide selection of hot and cold foods, puddings etc. Breakfast was excellent with omelettes cooked to order in front of you whilst you wait. Rooms were basic but clean with comfy beds and TV if you want it. Clean and tidy pool area, snack bar serving snacks and drinks but closed on our last few days as hotel was winding down to close for the winter. FABULOUS location, beach across the road, clean and tidy with lifeguard. Entertainment had something for everyone every night, particular highlight was the Jigger band and Gypsy Kings tribute. Not so good points: Coffee machine only, no fresh brewed coffee was a big thumbs down for us, we understand that the hotel caters for all inclusive so coffee machine is economical but it would have been nice to have the option to pay for a decent cup rather than go elsewhere. Not much hot food for vegetarians other than vegetables and occasionally soup and one rice dish during our stay. Glasses are taken away at 11pm and drinks are transferred into poor quality plastic cups with sharp rims, again, we understand that a minority of guests might smash glasses after one or two many and people take the glasses up to their rooms but it felt like a curfew and we couldn't be trusted with glass, another thumbs down here and something the management needs to review - maybe no glasses in room policy or better quality and less flimsy plastic could be offered? On the whole, this is a great little hotel in a prime location, we enjoyed our stay and can recommend it to other families looking for value for money, comfy beds, clean rooms, plentiful food, friendly staff and beautiful beach on the doorstep.
arrive 10th october easy check in, got lovely room it had been refurbished very clean, had pool and sea view as we had asked for. The staff were all very pleasant, friendly and never stopped working. The food was good always something to eat, pool bar made pancakes and toasties all day. Drinks were all good, and will be going back 2018
my partner and myself just got back from tropico player hotel, 09/10/17 till 19/10/17. We have now spent our last 2 years in October here, and we love it! On arrival we were quickly checked in but on entering our room and going on to balcony was met with a sloped roof cutting our view of nearly every thing. we made our way to pool bar, and notice that they make pancakes and toasties now which was a welcome surprise, which went down well with a coffee, which was also at pool bar. While we were there Saskia the manager was talking to bar staff and came over to us, we explained we wasn't very happy with our room and why and that we were returning guests. Saskia told us that after breakfast the following morning to go see her as she would give us a better room with sea view. As good as her word she did, and what a view. we were more then pleased. Food was plentiful, but evening cook so much better at what he does. Food at breakfast was good but not as tasty as the year before. entertainment was ok, something on every night but must admit a bit hit and miss, people seemed more happy with karaoke nights including myself as everyone seems to join in and have more fun, perhaps this should be increased to 2 or 3 nights a week instead of just 1. there was also a magician night which was very good, and of course the NIGHT OF JAMES" if u go around the 16th October, which is Halloween celebrations. All the staff pedro, Geraldine and team are a credit to Saskia and are all friendly, happy and nothing is to much, even domestic staff and maids are worth their weight in gold. I hope to be returning in april/may with my children and grand children for a week and then again in October 2018. your close to all shops, and beach over the road. its a 10/15 walk in to magaluf if you so wish, and close to all bus stops if you want to go further a field. All in all a good happy and friendly atmosphere at the tropico player. So yes I will definitely stay again. A BIG THANKYOU TO SASKIA AND ALL HER STAFF.
This was the first time we have stayed here And was amazed by the kindness given by all the staff especially Saskia and the receptionist Mirvia . The hotel is very conveniently situated just across the road from the beach 🏖 .. The rooms are spotless clean and the maid goes in everyday to make your bed clean etc. The food was very nicely prepared and all very tasty 😋 We have been to Palma nova many times. But this hotel truly beats the rest everyone so friendly I entered the Halloween fancy dress and won first prize a weeks all inclusive holiday this was a brilliant well organised event thank you to all the staff for the hard work you put into it . We can’t wait to go back next year and will recommend anyone to stay here. Regarding a few negative comments don’t listen to them they just don’t know how to have fun Please please go guarantee you will love it. The highlight of the holiday was obviously winning the fancy dress when I heard the judges say the winner is Brian and presented me with a free weeks holiday I was overwhelmed. Many thanks again to saskia and her team who all work hard to make sure we have a fabulous stay.
We spent 4 nights at Hotel Tropico Playa in October 2017 to celebrate our first wedding anniversary. The hotel is very dated & needs refurbishing. We stayed in room 215 which was very shabby. The balcony overlooked other apartments & we were unable to use the balcony when dinner was cooking due to the vile smell. There were holes in the bedsheets. The cupboards were battered. There was mould in the air conditioning unit. The metal shower hose in the bathroom was coming unwound & was rusty & sharp. The towels were thin & stained. The food was very basic, we only ate at the hotel 2 out of the 4 nights. The drinks tasted like they were watered down. The all inclusive snacks consisted of a choice of plain crisps or mini breadsticks & chocolate dip. Some of the staff particularly the bar staff were rude. The hotel is in a great position & was generally clean, hence the 2 stars we have given it.
My husband and I and 16 friends went on a 2 week holiday to Hotel Tropico Palma Nova for the first 2 weeks in October. We had a brilliant holiday, the staff in the hotel were wonderful, very helpful great fun nothing was a trouble to them. The rooms were kept very clean and most rooms have a balcony. We felt very comfortable staying there, the evening entertainment was quite good, it was an all inclusive holiday. We have already booked for next year and know that it will be every bit as good. Great location opposite the beach, great people, great hotel.
We have just returned from a very good week at this hotel. Location right on the sea front. Room was excellent. Comfortable beds. Stunning sea view. Effective Air conditioning. Decent WiFi in the whole hotel. In all rooms not just the public areas. Staff were friendly and helpful. Food selection was fine and the preparation very satisfactory. We have already booked for a return visit next spring.
