this is a very good hotel. Location is superb; hotel is very clean; staff are efficient and helpful; food is excellent. It is the perfect hotel if you have bad weather as we did. However shower in the bathroom only trickled out water and could go from freezing to scalding without human intervention. Other guests had similar or worse problems.
A lovely hotel in a beautiful spot full of staff who greet you with a smile every time. Definitely worth booking a room with a balcony, even with a side view like mine. When the sun shines the spot is idyllic. When it doesn’t you can hide away in the spa or have a treatment. Shame there isn’t a bath in every room, next time I will see about requesting one.
Beautiful hotel in a wonderful location , we were made to feel very welcome by the hard working staff . Spoilt for choice food wise Good selection of locally run excursions available as well as trips on their own yacht Would recommend for anyone to stay here
The Excellent: Well furnished, comfortable bedrooms with memory foam beds, good size TV with Free sat, mini bar stocked full of drinks/snacks etc., en-suite bathroom, simply but elegantly furnished in neutral tones, plenty of toiletries. Good information in the room about the hotel & facilities, and sufficient storage. tea and coffee making. Safe for secure storage. Lots of discreet lighting. The outside bar area is pleasant and the bar staff are attentive. In the main the staff are polite, restrained and efficient. The cleaning ladies especially maintain the rooms to a high standard and the waiting and bar staff are very good. Breakfast is excellent - lots of choice between continental and cooked. Perhaps the most varied we have ever experienced and well prepared and presented. Concierge staff are efficient and helpful. Boat trip for 57Euros is a highlight - half-day cruise to Cape Formentor and lunch and drinks provided on the converted vintage fishing vessel. The pine walk outside of the hotel is very attractive with great view of the panoramic bay - approx. 1 kilometre to the main drag. Spoilt by anti-social cyclists. Also why do you non-road tax paying cyclists want to cycle on a footpath when you have two adjacent roads to do your thing? Mallorca is a mecca for cyclists. The balconies in rooms where they exist are good and enable some privacy and relaxation. There is evening entertainment such as guitarist and flamenco dancing. Port Pollenca is a very nice location and is an attractive, more upmarket, albeit commercialised, holiday destination. it has plenty of amenities, restaurants and shops. The Not So Good: Not all of the rooms have balconies - not acceptable in a 4 star superior hotel and given the high price. You need to ensure that you ask for a room with a balcony which comes at a surcharge of between 15-22Euros per day. The suites are enormous and superb but cost between 75 & 125 Euros per day depending on the season and demand. On occasions concierge forget to follow up on requests - this happened twice in a week but did respond well when reminded. I also noticed that newspapers were not always delivered to guests who had ordered them. I saw a few complain. The walk-in shower had variable hot and cold water so it was impossible to regulate the shower and I decided to have a bath in the end which was alright but not ideal. The evening meal was very school dinner. Vegetable dolloped on a plate next to heated Majorcan lamb chops - not cooked to order so after the first night we ate elsewhere. This was a big minus. Perhaps the restaurant does a la carte? We didn't use the sauna or massage facilities so cannot comment. Some of the basic bedrooms are too small and not fitting of a 4 star hotel at the price point whilst other bedrooms are of a good size and appropriate for the star rating. The good far outweighs the bad but it is as it is - 4 stars and not quite worthy of 5 stars but it's not far off if they improve on a couple of the downsides we've mentioned. The hotel is owned by a chain so is not family run and at over 200 guests it's probably a bit too big for our liking. But I can see why people like the hotel and come back regularly. The hotel has been extensively developed over the years. We are fussy and my role in UK has been inspecting residential care homes amongst other things so I naturally cast a critical eye over establishments when staying as a guest but having paid £1400 for a week's B&B we are entitled to be analytical and I have given this hotel and fair and proportional assessment which I hope will assist future guests when considering staying at this hotel.
Visited here several times before and always a good experience, this time no different Warm welcome from the charming staff just like going home, food as good as ever and hotel spotless as usual. Please take a boat trip with Simon very enjoyable with food and drinks provided .you will love it
We had a fabulous 10 days stay at the Illa D'or over Easter staying in a double room with a new walk in shower. We booked a room with a balcony (balcony rooms need to be booked, sea view rooms also come with or without balcony) and we had a side sea view room with the benefit of the morning sun. Room 102. The service and quality of the hotel as a whole was more than worthy of the high rating. It was a real pleasure to have table service for the evening meal, with a fabulous menu and food. All of the staff were exceptional (special thanks to Christina and Loli) and Monica couldn't have been more welcoming on the management side. The location is quiet, laid back and peaceful. The Pine Tree walk to the Port is beautiful. Buffet breakfast taken outside overlooking the bay is a real delight. (We recommend that you don't use the egg station but order directly from the waiters). We cannot compliment the hotel and staff highly enough. We will definitely return.
Just returned from our stay in Mallorca. We would have no hesitation in staying here again. More suited to adults, very relaxing with wonderful staff. Frontline position with very pleasant walk to shops and bars etc. Our room was booked with a sea room. I was very disappointed with this room which was in the eaves on the fourth floor. The window was rather high but I could see the view on top toes! Fortunately we were able to move. I would suggest you book a room with a balcony. The restaurant was excellent. Freshly cooked and well presented. Evening meal was in two sittings - 6.30pm and 8.30pm. There is some musical entertainment in the evening but it took place during the second sitting which we had so were unable to participate. Other facilities include an outdoor swimming pool (rather cold in April) a small gym and spa with various treatments available. Behind the hotel is a nice self catering complex with pool and tennis court, more suitable for families with young children.
Speak as you find, we had a wonderful weeks stay. Our room was lovely, side of the hotel with bay view, it had plenty of room. The staff were attentive, efficient and friendly. Clean, tidy and well maintained hotel with a welcoming atmosphere. Excellent food in the restaurant, with a two day table d'hote menu with plenty of choice. No a la carte but if you have dietary needs these are catered for. Buffet breakfast, again, with plenty of choice. Quiet situation at the end of the bay. Recommended.
A lovely hotel with beautiful views. Enjoyed a trip on the hotel yacht around the bay to a secluded cove. Very relaxing and enjoyable. Staff very welcoming and friendly. Just booked a return trip in October. Weather gorgeous too! Definitely recommend.
This is a high quality, very clean and well managed hotel and the location is fantastic - beautiful views and nice & quiet, but still only a short walk to town. Positives: - beautifully kept, inside and out - helpful competent staff - fabulous location - excellent breakfast buffet (except the omelettes - please can someone teach the chef to cook an omelette!!!) with big choice and very fresh - lovely bar by the sea front - big and comfy communal areas - comfortable (firm) beds - lovely views from the room (417) - if you are interested in fitness: there is an excellent small gym with free weights (1kg to 5 kg only), 3 cardio machines, a multi gym and bosu/mats/balance ball. Lovely and clean and plenty of space (I was the only one there at any one time). Also great running along the sea front as the prom runs for miles! Negatives: - we were disappointed with the size of the room as we had booked a room for three adults - there was only a small space to move around the main bed, and you could barely get out to the balcony as the sofa bed blocked up the rest of the room. At this price point, I had expected more space. I requested a bigger room, but this was only available if I wanted to pay more. For 3 adults, the room is too small, although fortunately the third person in our party was our daughter, so once we had adjusted our expectations, we were ok if a bit cramped! If you need more space, it might be worth checking room sizes. - arriving at 23:30, we were disappointed that room service had finished and although I believe the bar was still open, the staff at reception were unable to rustle up so much as a crust of bread for us. We went to bed hungry but made up for it at the lovely breakfast buffet the next day! - the whole hotel has been renovated, but not really the bathrooms - shower cubicles would have been nice, as would a proper hair dryer. The bathroom was very spacious and clean.
