This came recommended by friends and thought it too good to be true. We were not disappointed and the staff we very attentative to even the most trivial of requests. Staff always friendly and hotel/room spotless. We shall return hopefully sooner rather than later.
A little walk into the Port from this hotel, but not too bad. Lovely rooms and great terrace restaurant with fantastic food and views. There is also a spa facility which seems to have been recently built which is great.
This hotel is rated as a 4 star plus which I think is fair. The location with private seafront bar and restaurant is excellent. It takes about 20min to walk along the "Pine Walk" to the centre of the resort where there are many bars and restaurants. The hotel is suited to an older demographic but the separately managed apartments behind the hotels are family friendly.
The hotel has undergone extensive refurbishment in recent years, and has now been completed to a very high standard. But with the changes has come a change of management and when we returned after 18 months I wondered whether the ethos and “feel” of the Illa d’ Or might have changed too. Thankfully, under the guidance of new Director General Sofian Hamames, the friendly and attentive staff who have helped shaped the hotel’s illustrious reputation have largely been retained and it is business as usual. He likes to engage with the guests and presents the same approachable manner as his predecessor, the now retired Miguel Salom. Once the domain of an older clientele, the hotel is now attracting a younger customer base which was evident when we visited in early October 2017. But don’t worry, the occasional evening entertainment remains subdued and tasteful, and concludes well before bedtime! If you have booked half board, the dinner menu changes every two days and there is plenty of choice with regular Mallorcan specialities on offer as well as more traditional fare. And if you are fortunate enough to be allocated a table in the window take care not to head-butt the pendant lights above the tables. You won’t hurt your head but it is embarrassing. In the summer months there is an a la carte dinner menu served on the outside terrace by the water’s edge. It is a beautiful place to dine, but if you are half board the allowance against using the a la carte is a meagre 12.5 euros per person. That seems a bit mean because to add dinner to the bed & breakfast tariff is 30 euros per person per night. With its beautiful location, coupled with luxury and style, it is no wonder that guests return again and again. If you can afford a sea view, even without a balcony it is worth paying the extra. The view of the bay is truly breathtaking, especially as the sun goes down behind the Tramuntana mountains that enclose the bay.
Had food here as a family. Was truly brilliant. Not cheap but if I ever go back to Pollensa I will definitely return. The burger I had was probably the best I have ever had! The rest of the group had great food too and the lady that served us could not have been nicer.
This is our fourth trip to the Hotel Illa D'Or and we have already booked for 2018. We like to visit slightly out of season and have always enjoyed friendly service and a lovely room - and this recent visit was no exception. It might not be to everyones taste - discreet evening entertainment, quiet position, limited outside pool area with no children facilities, but that's what we love about it. It was a bit busier than we have experienced before and obtaining a sun-bed by the sea could be a bit of an issue - only caused due to other residents securing beds for their use later in the day despite the polite signs. I am aware that residents of the apartments are able to use the full hotel facilities but not vice-versa for hotel guests to use their pool area - which might help to avoid the bottleneck. However nothing could deter us from having a fabulous time as always and we can't wait to return.
Located almost at the end of the pine walk this is a lovely family run hotel. Staff appear to be long serving and we met a number of people that come back each year and I could see why. Great service well equipped and good food in the restaurant. The room was a little small but well fitted with enough lighting. However we had a big terrace overlooking the bay facing the sunset which more than made up for it. Spa was good. Worth a return trip.
We stayed for two weeks at this hotel which was in a good position at the end of the pine walk which is enjoyed by all who stay In Puerto Pollensa. Everywhere is kept ver clean. The staff were very friendly and helpful and the food was well presented with quite a varied menu. Unusually the same menu was rotated every two days so if you enjoyed a meal it was also on offer the next. We had a central room with a large balcony overlooking the sea giving spectacular views especially in the mornings and evenings. During the main part of the day we found it too hot as there were no sunshades. The room was always nice and clean but we found it a bit small. Only three drawers for two people staying a fortnight. Both pool areas were spotless but the sun beds would benefit from a mattress. There is a good sunbathing area at the front of the hotel with easy access to a small beach and a clean sea. Many people we spoke to were on their twentieth visit or more which says a lot for the hotel. I’m sure we will visit again
Stayed during October half term for 3 nights, after changing booking at last minute from another Mallorca Hotel - with no regrets, Hotel was perfect for us in every way. Ideally situated for walking into Port de Pollenca, and iconic location right on the waterfront. Exceptionally clean, traditional culture, with excellent staff delivering great service from all departments. Many clients are clearly repeat and repeat and repeat customers, and have frequented the Hotel for many years. The Hotel started its life in 1929, and has been updated over the generations with a major refurbishment we understand during the past 3 years. It has all of the most modern amenities but has retained its charm and tranquillity throughout. The staff however are the number one asset, more like a large family, with a genuine desire to please. We will definitely return and become one of those repeat clients. M & S Robinson
Yesterday we returned from our ten day holiday at Hotel Illa d'Or in Port de Pollenca, Mallorca. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay. The hotel and staff were excellent. We loved the food and the efficient, sympathetic way the Head Waiter Agustin Duran ran his extremely hard working team. We made a lot of trips and there was ample opportunity for walking and swimming. We would love to come back!
