I am a friend of the PARADORES - chain. So far allway´s satisfied. Sometimes in the pasat, the food of some Hotel´s were not to the expectation or standart. In the last stay, of only one day the small food service of the bar was very good in taste and cuality, as also the cuantity.
I was looking for an upscale, relaxing hotel out of the city center but within walking distance of the quarter housing our friends during the holidays. Hung on a rearward hillside with private gardens protecting its front, this Parador gave us a base of operations that assured peace and quiet, and still afforded me a 10-minute stroll to most places in town. Also a rare premium is the fact that this stylish hotel has ample private, protected, ground-level [no tight squeezes] parking. The staff is efficient and capable from manager to cleaning crews, and all are friendly; especially at the front desk. Miss Muñoz had answers to every question, and she enthusiastically engaged us in all our languages -- Spanish [of course], French, and English -- without flaw. Our room was perfect for our needs; modern, spacious, and tastefully appointed for entertaining guests. We were very happy with this choice of lodging and will definitely stay at this Parador again.
When people think Parador, they often remember only that part of the mission narrative that speaks of saving the castle-like treasures of Spain, and so many expect to find restored ruins for lodgings. It ain't necessarily so; and that is the case for the Antequera Parador. This modern, minimalistic-designed hotel sits upon a slope with a beautiful view of La Piñas mountain ... but also with the trappings of development and agriculture. Antequera and the state likely would not provide Parador the enormous and impressive fortress atop the village with its incredible vistas. Nonetheless, the Parador Antequera provides travelers and local tourism a stylish, quiet, and well-managed hotel and restaurant that provided us an excellent place to lodge and entertain while visiting family for the Christmas holidays. For a week we made the Parador home; and we will certainly do this with each return to Antequera. Our special thanks to Ms Encarni Muñoz who greeted us warmly -- even in the coldest and darkest holiday hours -- and expertly guided us in our navigation and exploration of the surrounding areas. She provided me some of my best photographs with her directions to just the proper places at sunrise. Even with her farewell, she provided a Parador invitation to the fine restaurant at their sister hotel in Lorca. Her assistance went a long way beyond the norm, and made that segment of our travels very memorable. Muchos gracias Ms Muñoz and Parador !
Room 210 may be the worst room in the hotel with no view except utilities and goods delivery area. Other rooms can see for ever across Andalucia with gardens & pool. Location is good, breakfast is standard Parador world class buffet.
We choose this parador for having a last night near the Málaga airport after a seven days X-mas parador holiday. The rooms were nice and even with a little nook with two Chairs and a table for a drink and Reading, but in the summertime we wouldhave regretted not having a balcony facing the pool and the surrounding landscape. The breakfast had a wide variety of food and high quality freshly squized orangejuice. The reception people were very helpful and ready to offer advices on what to do and see. One walks to the not so interesting town center in five minutes and there is a short drive to three Roman era dolmens. It'll take you 20 minutes to reach El Torcal, a fantastic clutter of ubelievably stone formations that beats the work of many modern sculpturers.
This is a modern hotel on the outskirts of the town but very convenient to the bus station. The hotel is very clean and well maintained. The rooms are very comfortable and well appointed. The breakfast menu and range of foods were excellent. The dining room is well situated overlooking the local landscape. The dinner menu did not look fantastic, so we ate out each evening. However, the whole place lacks atmosphere- there is no comfortable lounge where one might relax and seemed to be very difficult to get a quiet drink in the evening time. The staff on reception were not especially friendly. Overall, it is a good spot fro B&B and is easy walking distance to the town centre, where there are some nice restaurants.
the hotel is located on the edge of Antequera, very quiet and with an excellent view over the valley. The rooms are excellent and clean. Breakfast is abundant. We did not eat at the hotel as the comments were not so good (diner starts at 18.00 which is untypical spanish and therefore too 'turisty') and the town is just minutes away. The bar is not very well attended and the pool needs renovating (but it is clean) but all and all an excellent hotel for a short stay in Antequera
Quite a modern parador but very stylish and tasteful, filled with the usual amenities and with some very nice employees. The rooms also have a modern vibe and the breakfast was great as per usual in these hotels. There is also plenty of parking available and it is easy to find your way there from anywhere in Antequera.
I wrote a review of this Parador 2 years ago but have recently revisited. Since my review, the entire place has been renovated and is a lovely, delightful place to stay. It is modern, so if you want history and historical ambiance, this is not the place. Parking is free and convenient. Ask for a room with a view of Lovers' Mountain. Staff is very nice except for the bartender. The grounds are lovely and it's in a quiet location. Only problem we had was that although they promised several times that the airconditioning would be working (it was an unusually hot October this year), the airconditioning had been turned off so it was rather warm in the room...we slept with only a sheet on and it was still warm). I asked 3 different people working there about it and got 3 different, obviously made up, answers.
This hotel marries the old and new in a perfect harmony. We enjoyed both the hospitality and the warm friendly service by the staff. They were attentive and met all of our needs. We asked for a recommendation for our dinner and they sent us for short a walk to the bull ring. It was within 5 minutes and we enjoyed the recommendation. A nice view of the valley was welcomed and topped off our stay.
