NH Madrid Príncipe de Vergara4.0 out of 5.0

The NH Principe de Vergara is a very nice hotel, with friendly, helpful staff who spoke excellent English. The room and bathroom were very clean and well appointed. We had a room with twin beds- they were comfortable and clean. Our room was on the first floor and we chose to have the window open over night- the neighborhood was much quieter than another we stayed in but there is still some noise from the street. If it bothers, don't leave the window open and use the air conditioning. The hotel itself was quiet. Location-wise, the NH Principe de Vergara is pretty far removed from the city center but is very close to a major metro station that provides access to pretty much anywhere you might want to go in Madrid. We didn't do much exploring around the neighborhood so I can't speak to restaurants or sights but it is a nice area that seemed to be more residential.
I really appreciated the comfort of my bed at the end of long days of walking. This hotel was in a quiet area close to a Metro station. It had a mini bar that I could use to cool down my water. I found a supermarket just up the road after a few days so was able to re-stock my water supply. Internet is only free in the lobby, and that is just for 30 minutes. I could never get the free password to work. I wound up paying the 10.60 (per 24 hours) for use in my room. It was mostly reliable
Two blocks to the metro station Ave. de America. Modern and chic hotel. Great price. There is not many dinning options in the area.
