The staff make this hotel so good. Location is great we could walk to most places very easily. Breakfast very good. Would recommend this hotel and would stay again if I’m lucky enough to return to Madrid.

My husband and I stayed at Hotel Principe Pio for four nights, and are very happy with the service and the accommodation, given the affordable rates of the hotel. It has excellent location, beautiful views of the Royal Palace and gardens, very convenient in terms of public transport and other nearby sights and restaurants. Would absolutely recommend it to friends and to anyone!

My DH and I stayed at this hotel for 3 nights at the end of last month. The hotel interior was clean, modern and spacious with beautiful furniture. They had apples, pastries and luxury coffee machine in the lobby, which was treat for us. Our room and bathroom were very clean, spacious and well equipped. The hotel was very near the palace but not so close to other attractions. We walked 15 mins to metro station (Opera) or Regional train station (Principe Pio) to go to museums and other attractions. There were no grocery or markets near by the hotel so we used the supermarket in Principe Pio station. Near that station, there was a nice Beer house we visited few times. Cerveria Surena was a chain bar/restaurant which had nice food and beer bottles in a bucket for very good price. (5 small bottles of beer in a bucket costs 4 euro) The hotel front desk people were professional and spoke good English. They were very helpful whenever we asked them questions. We bought breakfast for 12 euro per person and loved it. It had lots of different kind of bread, pastries and egg, ham, bacon and fruits. Overall, it was really nice experience to stay there. I would definitely recommend this hotel to my family and friends.

We had a really fantastic stay at this Hotel. Everything excellent!!! We will be back. Comfortable and clean rooms, friendly staff always ready to help, excellent breakfast and top position!!! Absolutely recommended.

Very good location : near Palacio Real,Almudena Cathedral, Plaza Major, Reina Sofia Museum, Prado. Also near Gran Via -for shopping. Pleasant atmosphere, rich breakfast, coffee, apples and cookies în the hotel lounge. Friendly and kind staff.

This hotel is in a fabulous location, literally across the street from the palace and not far from restaurants, shopping etc. The service was wonderful, everyone we encountered was extremely helpful. They even provided a cell phone so that we could call our back in the US when our debit card did not work. The only complaint I have is that the room was unbelievably hot. We were on the 7th floor and the only way to get any cool air was to open the window and then we had street noise. Even with the window open it was still hot. There was a good breakfast and lots of space in the room, it was just hot. We, unfortunately paid a very high price for the room which created more concern.

We had a week at this lovely hotel which is very conveniently situated halfway between Principe Pio station and Plaza Espana station and opposite the Sabatini Gardens. We had a view of the palace from our window which made up for the fact that we were on a very busy road. Our room was spacious and comfortable with a big comfy queen size bed. It was spotlessly clean. Breakfasts were served in the basement dining room. There was a plentiful buffet with a variety of hot and cold food. All the staff were very friendly, polite and helpful. This hotel has a guest lounge which has comfy seating, a coffee machine and jugs of iced water. On the down side I thought the lighting in our room was poor especially in the area of the wardrobe. It was like looking into a black hole and we needed a torch to find things we'd put away in the safe. Also, the phone and two of the plugs didn't work.

Great location within an easy walk to many of the major tourist sites. We had a standard Palace view room with a King-size bed. The bed took up most of the room but we weren't in it that much. The bath was spacious and well-appointed. The breakfast was the best of the three hotels we stayed at in Spain and the two local restaurants next door were a delight to visit.

I was part of a group of 7 women and had a single room at the back of the hotel. For me that was fine as I could sleep with e window open. My friends who were all at the front said it was too noisy to have the windows open. My room was a good size with a large single bed with high quality bedding and very comfortable, a large wardrobe with a safe inside, and the bathroom was nicely finished too, excellent shower in the bath. Staff were lovely, friendly and helpful. The hotel website advertised "mini bar", when I opened the fridge there was 2 small bottles of water. There was no licensed bar at the hotel either, which was the only downfall our group felt. The residents lounge had tea and coffee available. For breakfast there was a good choice, I recommend the scrambled eggs. You can buy the city tour double decker buses hop on hop of tickets at reception for the same price you pay at a booth. A 2 day ticket was 25 euros, a great way to see the city, get about, and also learn about it through the commentary. Its a great location and you can easily walk to lots of the main sights and eating places. We all felt safe no matter what time of night we were out.The hotel is very clean and an excellent base for the city and would not hesitant to recommend to anyone else.
