Hotel Principe Pio

The hotel was in a very good location to where we wanted to be in Madrid. The family room had two rooms connected which was perfect for our needs. The beds were comfortable and we slept well. There was a peculiar smell in the rooms which could have been the cleaning products used but as we only slept in the rooms, it wasn't overbearing. We did not eat breakfast at the hotel but we found a lovely cafe down the road towards Principe Pio train station that had lovely toast, toasted bread with tomatoes and good coffee for far less money than what the hotel charged for breakfast. The wifi was excellent.

A good, average hotel with good location just a short walk from the Royal Palace. Friendly staff, good sized and clean room with a fridge. The only negative was the aircon who didn't seem to work properly, it was so hot in the room, which you not might expect in December. But it was ok. All was fine otherwise. The place is a short walk from a train/subway stop.

The Principe Pio Hotel is situated very close to the Royal Palace and it's gardens, which are located almost in the centre of Madrid. The hotel is classed as a 3* but the quality is much more deserving of a higher rating, it is very classy. The rooms are very well appointed with a very large comfortable bed, aircon, white linen (quite important so my wife tells me!) and a good size bathroom with bath/shower, bidet, shower gel and shampoo etc. There aren't any tea/coffee making facilities in the rooms but hot drinks are available, free of charge, in the downstairs lounge 24hrs. The rooms are cleaned every day to a very high standard. The nearest Metro station, as far as I am aware as it's the one we used, is at Principe Pio station, approximately a 10 minute walk away. But, to be fair, nowhere in the centre of Madrid is very far away although it may look that way on a map!

This Hotel is excellent, nice sized rooms, comfortable beds, pillows and modern bathrooms. The breakfast is really good and has everything for every taste. There is a coffee machine with a variety of coffee selection, in the main lobby 24 hours a day, with a mid-afternoon pastry treat. The Hotel is located at a walking distance to the most visit sites in Madrid, in addition, friendly and helpful front desk staff and knowledgeable about the area sites to visit. If you are renting a car there is a parking garage right beside the Hotel.

Stayed for 3 nights. Arrived from the airport at around midnight and were greeted by a very helpful night clerk, who spoke good English. The room was spacious, modern (with great wifi and sockets next to the bed) and very clean. The bathroom, and particularly the shower, was excellent, with amenities re-stocked daily. The walls were a little thin giving a slight noise from the corridor, but nothing drastic. The location is very good, within 3 minutes walk of the Plaza de Espana, the Gran Via and the Royal Palace as well as 5 minutes to the Principe Pio station, which has a direct train link to the airport. Free tea and coffee were provided in the lobby, which is a very nice touch. However, breakfast was 12 euros each, ridiculously expensive compared to surrounding cafes. Madrid is a fantastic city for a short break, and we most certainly enjoyed our stay at this hotel.

wonderful city, lots to do and to see. we got a but ticket for 2 days hopped on and off the buses. the hotel was lovely clean and staff very friendly. breakfast was lovely with lots of different food to choose from.

Across from Royal Palace, short walk from best shopping spots. Great location n service. Monica especially, was really sweet and answered all questions without being patronizing as others did. Great value for your money

We received a large triple room. it had jacuzzi in the bath room and a large patio. All the staff spoke good English and very friendly. There was free coffee in the main hall. Buffet breakfast was 12 euros, we did not try it. it is not quite in the downtown area, but very close to the Royal palace and a cathedral. From there we walked to Opera and Plaza Mayor.

This is a 3 start hotel so I didn't really expect much before going there. But once you arrive you realize that this is way better than a normal 3 start hotel. Perfect location, nice staff, very clean and nice rooms with a comfortable bed and a big tv. I definitely recommend it and will most likely go here next time I visit Madrid.

My wife and I spent a week from the 10th to 17th May 2017 in this lovely little hotel. The staff are wonderful and the breakfasts are not bad. The hotel is very conveniently located, being close to the Metro, Royal Palace, Sol, Plaza Major, Templo de Debod etc., The problem I had was that my room backed onto the stairwell and the noise from the lifts and the foot traffic up and down the stairs was dreadful. In addition the wall between our room and the one next to us was paper thin. The conversations, bathroom noises and the television in the room next to us could be clearly heard in our room. Some nights it was three o'clock before we could get to sleep. Unless you are a very sound sleeper I would unfortunately pass up on this hotel.
