I arrived early round 8:30 am. I waited in the lobby until 12:50 pm when the room was available. The two persons at the check-in desk were indifferent to the fact that a room was unavailable yet. The location was great. There were restaurants and convenience stores nearby. I do not recommend this hotel due to the indifference that greeted me when I arrived.

Owners were very nice and welcoming and even let me check in early which I really appreciate. Room was charming and comfortable, and even had balcony view. This hotel was three football fields long. It has two lobbies, one at each end, but the management closed one and sealed it up (is this safe if there’s a fire?), and then they stuck us at that extreme end of the hotel. It was a very long walk down an endless corridor to our room. Also, the breakfast buffet was meh, restaurant service was meh, and there were long lines for coffee. When we visited again several days later we stayed somewhere else.

The entrance to the hotel is disconcerted tu when you take the elevator and get to reception, your idea of having made a mistake disappears. Small but cozy and the staff very kind, professional and ready to help. The rooms are comfortable clean, spacious and the cleaning staff is always attentive, available and friendly. The only thing that could be a problem for older people is that the shower has a slightly high tub if you have balance problem. The location is unbeatable, very central and reasonable prices, If you want breakfast, La Mallorquina is there, crossing Puerta del Sol, you want to have a dinner, bars, restaurants with all kinds of flavors and if you want to save money on food you have El Corte Ingles just crossing La Puerta del Sol again! As a bonus you have a mini refrigerator in the room an you can always request to use the microwave at the reception. That’s it, when I’m in Madrid this is my favorite and convenient place to be.

An exceptional hostel right off Plaza del Sol, ground zero in Madrid from which all roads and development radiated centuries ago. Had a private bath with a bathtub, large wall mirrors, comfortable queen bed, and sparkling clean with all amenities needed. Problem is it’s always booked, so I could only stay two nights then had to find another one for my last night, but fortunately only a few steps away as I was carrying too much luggage, leaving for States the next day.

Tried to refuse a confirmed booking when I arrived

Tried to refuse a confirmed booking when I arrived as they were "fully booked". As a single woman traveller this was not appreciated especially as I had printed details of the confirmed booking with me. When I advised them that if they did not have appropriate accommodation for me I would have to advise the police suddenly two spare rooms appeared. They initially tried to sleep me opposite the reception which would have been totally inappropriate and noisy especially as I had requested a "quiet" room, After this suddenly another room appeared at the back of the hotel, which suited my needs. Although the room was suitable and well provisioned unfortunately the fact that they tried to throw a lone woman traveller out on the streets without accommodation when a conference was on in town (so alternative hotels would have proven difficult to find) certainly was not appreciated. As such I would not book with them again.
