Very enjoyable stay at the Hotel des Celestins

We enjoyed very much our 2 days stay at the Hôtel des Célestins, very well situated between the lovely Place des Celestins, the river Saone and place Bellecour (Metro) , pedestrians street . Very quiet. Friendly staff. Old building with all the confort . Good breakfast included .

Great little hotel

This is an authentic traditional French Hotel with large rooms, original wood floors, newer bathrooms, interesting decorations. Awesome location for visiting Lyon. The breakfast hits the spot with a nice variety of items. The breakfast room is on the 2nd floor. It’s light and bright with eclectic decorations. There is a reception desk, but no lounge area. The service is what sets this place from the others. Everyone was extremely helpful welcoming and nice. I would stay here again. This is not a full-service luxury hotel.

The main photo on hotel site is the building that hotel faces, not hotel itself. The hotel is more like bed and breakfast as it doesn’t have any common areas other than breakfast room. No entrance lobby at all. Not sure why it’s called a hotel. The room was comfortable and clean, very friendly staff, great breakfast. It’s in an excellent area, close to everything.

Great Stay in Lyon

Great location. Very central to every place of interest. We like to walk to see everything. We walked from the Rhone Express to the hotel (got a Uber) on the way back. 30 to 35 mins walk. Breakfast if very good. Caution when arriving. The main photo is the Theatre, not the hotel! We walked straight past the hotel as did another couple we saw looking for the hotel the following day.

We stayed in the Magnolia suite. It was very large and comfortable for two people. There was a large bed, but also a pullout couch. This gave my daughter and I the opportunity to sleep separately which was great. The bathroom was also spacious and very clean. The staff was very helpful and friendly with our needs. We would certainly stay there again.

I live this hotel and have stayed here twice. So quaint but modern/clean/efficient. Fast easy 10-minute walk to metro with luggage, good non-touristy restaurants all around it, high end shopping on the same block, such helpful and kind staff. Highly recommend.

Quick 5 minute walk to metro (metro line A to terminal stop on the line where you transfer to the Rhône Express train above ground to go directly to airport). High end retail shopping less than a block away. Five minute walk to historic St. John the Baptist cathedral and restaurants/shops. The staff is so helpful in helping with transit plans and recommendations for restaurants and agenda. I already booked my next stay with them!
