Property is still being upgraded so there is still work to do. However our room was clean and tidy and the added bonus was having the restaurant on site.

Not a bad spot but does need some revamping. Cold in winter with only oldschool heaters. Towels felt like rags. Staff were super helpful and kind. Bit overpriced IMO for the facilities.

I booked the Angus hotel for September 2025 because of it's 8.2 rating. The hotel experience showed a 4.0 would have been a more suitable rating. The first room didn't have a working heater so we moved to another room. In the second room the heater barely heated the room. The second room didn't have a microwave, the toilet worked intermittently, there was mold on the ceiling in the bathroom. The hallway ceiling to our room was patched up with different materials and in some places showing mold. The restaurant was good and the staff were excellent. They said a renovation was planned.

Hotel was clean staff was friendly .Only priblem encountered was eith breakfast .Reception ti Told us we had booked for one persin only so had to pay for the second persons breakfast.when we went for breakfast,kitchen staff told us there was booking for 2 people so we would not have to pay .i explained this to the receptionist on checkout but checking my credit card found out they had still charged us for the breakfast for 2 days

Lovely now, fabulous after refurb

Hotel is tired looking but the refurbishment starting shortly will make it a lovely place again, the staff are great and very helpful, and pickles the parrot always says hello to everyone, a joy especially for children, will be going back again in 18mths for anniversary, looking forward to the new look. Great bus/train availablity to wellington with amazing views of the harbour on the way, easy driving around locally & other towns.

The room was spacious, clean and quiet and the bed was very comfortable. What is supplied is basic, no hairdryer for example. There were some general maintenance issues, toilet running and air con not working properly but neither was a big problem. The rest of the property is looking tired and run down in places and there were room service plates and food left outside rooms for 12 hours + which gives a general feeling of not much care. Overall ok for a 1 night stay.

The heating I think needs an upgrade. The heater in our room was quite loud. Our room was quite cold on one very cold night but leaving the heater on was very noisy although it heated the room up well. Just didn’t have a good sleep. Maybe they could look into double glazed windows too as I noticed the glass doors facing outside had a gap at the bottom of the doors that cold air was coming through.

The accomodations were adequate, an extra blanket or two would have been appreciated and the bath was very slippery for taking a shower in. The restaurant was disappointing as our food order was extremely slow and arrived a good 45 minutes after ordering leaving us running late for a pre booked function.
