This is one of the most beautiful venues in Lourdes, the whole atmosphere brings back to memory the earliest time of the pilgrimage. Amazingly epoch decorated restaurant that makes you feel far in the past. Good service and food. Pricy option for a good food quality. I would say it is a must if one comes to visit Lourdes. Very close to the grotto indeed, very busy and crowded road though.
The hotel's front entrance is obscured by shops which detract from the charm and elegance of an old hotel with beautiful furnishings. Once inside we appreciated the beautiful lounge with plush seats and carpeting. Elevators were adequate. Our comfortable room had a nicely modernized bathroom (but shower screen leaked). Not spacious but quite adequate with nice windows and small terrace. WARNING: When I used a dummy plastic card to keep the electricity on in my room to charge batteries while we were out, the staff confiscated the card. Yes it is fair for staff to remove the card to turn-off the power, but I objected to confiscation of the card and the staff did politely return my card. Otherwise they were friendly and helpful for our visit. The hotel is conveniently located next to the shrine and multitude of shops and restaurants. Dinners and buffet breakfast were good and we enjoyed our stay.
Me and my husband where supposed to stay 2 nights in this hotel, that promised to be the best 4* in the area. We are traveling a lot, but this is not 4*( or shell we say small stars). We arrived through the parking area . The first person we met was a dirty kitchen member of staff who advised us how to get to the entrance door, which was not singed clearly. We went into a very dark tutti corridor, into the lift which was old but functional. The hotel all together need a good clean and so should be the member of staff. All of them that we met were not tidy and presentable. The room was clean but very simple. Beds where like in a hostel (2 single beds old and not even long enough for me and I am not tall). No long mirror, very very minimalistic room. It was supposed to be a "junior suit". Breakfast was ok, but not clean!!! We stayed only 1 night and moved to our next destination early than planned. No, we will not recommend this hotel as a 4* hotel.
The interior and exterior are outdated. But they succeed to maintain the cleanliness and the quality of everything. The service is awesome, the breakfast is perfect. you can just walk to the church within few minutes.
Nice hotel centrally located in town center. Old world charm with updated conveniences like wifi and modern bathroom. Room is on small side but decorated in the old world style with wallpaper and moulding. Air conditioning worked well as it got hot in Lourdes when we stayed (end of May). Hotel has a beautiful restaurant on lower level with draperies, crystal chandeliers, private dining alcoves remenisent of by gone days when people dressed up to dine. Nice.
I had a disaster of a visit, but 20+ other rooms for my group were great. When I checked in my room safe was locked. I tried to open the door and the entire safe moved around - it was not bolted to the shelf. That motion caused the safe alarm to sound, and it continued to alarm on-and-off for the hour I waited for service. When my luggage was delivered to the room, the person knew the code to open the safe (how many workers knew that code.) The safe never did work - it would not accept a code and it alarmed one more time while it was open. WIFI did not work for the room and I later found out that many of the codes they provide at checkin are not good numbers. I did finally get a code that worked. SO, the room was clean, quiet, and the mattress was good. Breakfast was good. My room had a nice balcony with a table and chairs. The hotel location is good and within walking distance of the Lourdes cave and the nightly procession. It's far enough away to avoid too much traffic, and close enough to walk to trinket shops and food options. I would stay at this hotel, again, now that I know what can go wrong and that the friendly staff can fix it.
This is a 'grand' hotel in the old style with many period features yet modernised throughout. Our room was marginally smaller than expected but well decorated, very clean & with all the expected amenities, mini refrigerator, TV (with access to some UK channels), hair drier, air conditioning, tea/coffee making facilities, safety deposit box, free WiFi etc. The en-suite was spotless & quite spacious. The restaurant is very olde worlde. It's a long room with tables spread according to the expected numbers, boasting chandeliers along its length & some small more intimate/romantic booths. The first floor bar is well appointed with a lovely terrace. Staff were multi lingual, efficient, friendly & always very helpful. The positioning of the hotel is worthy of note. We drove to it & approached from what is probably regarded as the rear. It has its own car park set in a comfortable well lit 'garden' area & it is this area that the bar terrace overlooks. It is quite peaceful & on an evening we could hear various choirs singing in the distance from churches or processions. It was quite moving in itself & you could be forgiven for thinking this extremely tranquil & relaxing setting was on the edge of some pastoral haven. Yet if you left through the front of the hotel you were immediately into the busy hubbub of central Lourdes, about 5 minutes walk from the main Basilica. Given the standard of the hotel I was pleasantly surprised to find they offered a reasonably priced 'menu du jour' - as it happens we didn't go for it, preferring to pay a little more & opt for the a la carte & were rewarded with a superb meal, well presented, well cooked & extremely delicious. Overall we were extremely impressed with everything about this hotel.
Stayed here for couple of days from April 11-13th. I would really only give this a 3.5 stars...but rounded up. Check in: Arrived around 6:30pm...advised them of late arrival..it was straight forward, they already had my keys ready for me at the front desk. No problems here, the front desk always had someone who could speak English. Room: Room was ok, however in North America this would only qualify for a 3 star room. Safe was locked already..had to call someone to come and open it. Someone should have checked that before. Also the tv was wall mounted in my room and had a loose connection. A lamp was placed in front of it so the tv would not turn off. Clearly someone knew of the issue..not my idea of fixing an issue. Bar/Restaruant: Didn't eat here, however I did have a few drinks. Service was good. Wifi: They gave me a username and pw for wifi, everytime I tried to login., it refused, I just ended up using my own internet via mobile wifi. Location: Location is probably the best thing about this hotel if you are visiting the Basilica and Grotto. Literally a minute away. Checkout: Was straight forward, no surprises. Overall a good experience, I might give this place a chance again.
Very comfortable hotel. Reception staff very nice. Very comfortable beds and quiet rooms. Would highly recommend. Hotel is very conveniently situated and very near the Basilica and Grotto. We had a delicious dinner both evenings in the elegant dining room and food was very good and reasonably priced.
The hotel is elegant, location is 9 plus. My room is more than inviting because of doors leading to balcony and beautiful setting inside the room. Besides the comfy bedding of double twin bed, large modern bathroom make my room valuable I love the hotel because it's located right in the center where I could walk to the Sanctuary in less than 10 minutes. Stepped out of the hotel are the souvenir shops, exchange currency is close by the hotel and gave the highest rate for euro.
