Very cool place with the best host! Everything is perfectly decorated. Private and the property is beautiful. Very unique and one of a kind experience.

This place was great.The host was friendly, there was even a welcome packet on the front table. It's very quaint comfortable and eclectic, I liked it.

The hosts were quick to answer any questions throughout the entire booking. The property was exactly as described. Quiet, secluded area away from the noise of the city, yet close enough to get there quickly if you want.

Wonderful location, great trails right out the door, creek near by, sounds at night only of frogs and owls. Very nice and responsive hosts. Not for everyone; it is rustic, not elegant -- but exactly what we want. Also a great deal for the price. Having a full kitchen saved us a lot of money.

I love this place — the sound of the birds and access to the trail make it so special. The bed was incredibly comfortable, and I always enjoy staying here.The trail was more overgrown than my last visit, so I didn’t walk as long as I had hoped. There was also quite a bit of noise from the upstairs unit at times, which disturbed my sleep — perhaps additional rugs or soundproofing could help.A microwave and hair dryer would also be helpful additions.Overall, I truly love this spot and would happily return.

NICE SPOT IN OLD TOPANGA

Great ground-level suite with large living/dining area, small bedroom, kitchen, and nice bathroom. Very rural and quiet, especially for L.A.

The property itself is nestled nicely in the trees, the location is very convenient, and I felt safe during my stay. However, the management, cleanliness, and amenities were highly disappointing.Upon arrival, I found dirty underwear and a partial snack wrapper left in the bedroom and a dirty tray in the toaster oven. The kitchen was very poorly stocked for cooking, there were no paper towels, no tin foil to use in the toaster oven, no strainer, and the knives were quite dull. Noise is also an issue; I could clearly hear the upstairs unit watching TV late into the night and had to sleep with a pillow over my head.The biggest issue was the host's unethical billing practices. They required an off-platform pet deposit via Zelle (which violates Vrbo policy) and then refused to return the full amount. I had to escalate the issue to Vrbo customer support twice just to recover my stolen funds. A peaceful setting unfortunately does not make up for this kind of mismanagement.

Decent, rustic (as stated), funky place. Good hot water, kitchen items/utensils/etc, a table, chairs, sofa ... butThey have changed the decor since the photos here, and perhaps it should be called the "Random suite" rather than "creative" suite - it seems to be the place they put all the things they didn't know what else to do with (the pics show they once had a much better designer). Random does not equal creative.(said with humor).Alternately, they could call it the "surfers suite." There is a huge mural dominating the space of brightly a colored surfer scene, and a large painting of a surrer on the other wall, with surf boards outside. I still would have rented it, as I just needed a place to sleep, but not a place I'd be inspired to relax and feel peaceful to write/meditate/have a retreat.There wasn't any proper curtains for the door that goes outside from the bedroom, so I needed to hang an extra blanket over it to block the light coming in from yard lighting. I also didn't like the overpowering scent - likely a cleaning supply of some kind. Just a heads up if scent sensitive.And finally, a heads up for anyone with even slight mobility issues, bad knees, hips, or back - you have to crawl in and out of the bed from the foot of the bed since there is no room on the sides (it is nearly flush with walls both sides).All that is just an FYI for those coming here in the future - all in all it was decent so it is still a place that is reasonable and clean and tended to.
